Please remember our telecommunications subscriber base in the country is over 140million. How did the telecommunications achieved this? Keep deceiving yourself |

LASG SET TO ROLL OUT 'NEW' LAGOS IDENTITY CARD
The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to roll out the New Lagos Identity Card, “LAG ID” for residents of the State.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ms. Yinka Fashola during an Internal Stakeholders Workshop held on Saturday, 10th July, 2021, at Alausa, Ikeja.
In her address, Ms. Fashola revealed that the Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring the successful rollout of the card as she encouraged all enrolment officers to be proactive and show commitment to achieving the registration of 100 residents per day. She expressed confidence that the target of registering 10 million residents before the end of the year can be achieved.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Engr. (Mrs.) Ibilola Kasunmu enjoined all members of staff and other stakeholders to be good advocates of the ‘New’ Lagos Identity Card when it is finally unveiled.
Mrs. Kasunmu, who said that the workshop was held to explain details of the project, declared that the major difference between the card issued previously and the new one to be unveiled is that the latter is a multipurpose Smart Card that meets International Best Practices and will serve as a valid means of identification.
"The card comes with a chip. Security is one of the features of the LAG ID Card 2.0 amongst others. The chip has multipurpose uses and can be accepted anywhere in the world. Also, you don’t need to carry the multipurpose card around because the chip houses the information to be used by the card. It has contactless capacities”, she said.
Relating that the new initiative aligns with the Smart City Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu 's administration, Kasunmu said that the concept is the first of its kind in West Africa and was quick to state that the “Unique LAG ID” is to replace the former LASRRA Number.
In her words, "The card has a validity period because it is a bank card and is renewable every five years. It has other 25 generic features which were embedded to ensure inclusive participation by all our Ministries, Departments and Agencies. These generic applications will be customised to suit different MDAs depending on their needs".
The General Manager also pointed out that the Validation Portal has gone live and described the Android Application solution, which will make registration seamless and accessible through smartphones, as work in progress.
The Head of Registration at LASRRA, Mr. Ajibola Abari, took participants through the registration plan and process, pre-enrolment process, requirements for registration, various registration centres in Lagos State and the card pick-up points.
Other issues discussed at the workshop include the card issuance process, the Veto Company that will be in charge of the card and the PR communication approach. Phase I of the process dwells on the integrity of the card, Phase II outlines how to engender stakeholders' support and understanding and Phase III lists the benefits of registration by the public. Discussions also covered meeting with stakeholders from time to time, proactive reputation building, framework for the media plan presentation and others.
#LASG #ForAGreaterLagos Why should I be renewing my identity every five year's? Do you mean after expiration of my identity card, I would automatically become an alien in my land? I hope our government aren't comparing national/ State identity cards to international passport that is renewable? The former is basic, while the latter is optional. Basic because the government can plan with the data and also serve our country as security strategy. Renewing national/State identity card is like renewing ones tribal Mark. How? I need to understand the rationale |

authority2006: This kind of opportunity is rare. Two, no one knows how connected you are or how deep your pocket is. Studying many courses in Nigeria is like wasting of time, simple. You're wrong Sir. I lost my banking job while he was in his 4th year as under graduate in Unilag in 2015. I shared my car on uber (I drove on Lagos streets to make ends meet) while he was struggling with his Masters degree at Unilag. He secured the AXA job after his Masters degree. Today, the story is different and it can only get better going forward. Passion is key towards achieving one's goal in life. Do your best and leave the rest unto God. PS: I am actively searching for job should there be opportunities around you. |

Physics as a course is the bedrock of science and engineering.
My son graduated with a second class upper at Unilag, did his masters in physics at Unilag, got employed by AXA as a back end programmer for about 18 months, and presently on scholarship in the United State as a graduate assistant in a university and also studyibg for PhD in physics all paid for by the States.
The gospel truth is that, you must first have passion for what you do to be able to excel in it. Understand the course very well, you could become an inventor. Physics is beautiful |
