Goodevening all. Please I opened a fresh email for my in-law to apply for dependant visa. Along the line the email cannot be accessed again. Visa fees have been paid. At the point of getting date and uploading. Now we cannot access the email again after trying several times to recover password.

Please I need advice. Do I cancel the application or call vfs or what can I do to access the account.

Thanks for your understanding.

Congrats on your soft landing.
One will guess it's the housing contract. A relatively short one so that you can renew if it suits you or search for new ones: By then you'll have understand the system much more and got some records.
Generally gas, so indicate gas heating and smart metering.

Ok thank you. Much appreciated.

Thanks alot for this information. Out of curiosity, please can you tell me reason why I should avoid Hillfield? Gangsters? Robbery? Do you mind sharing your email? Thanks once again.

Solumtoya:

You don't have much worry, and I doubt if anyone will ask for rent of more than 1 month as rent is typically monthly. The contract, though, might state you gotta stay for minimum 6 months or 1 year. Since your Employer is getting it for you, that's soft landing. Some of us rocked Airbnb for 2 months before moving to renting. So, I'd say "Be careful with the contract, hope it doesn't bind you for long, and pretty much hope for the best". My first place was Electric Heating and my first Energy bill was £850 cos the Thermostat was on 30°c for the entire month (subsequent months kept dropping till we hit £80 in the Summer without Heating) so watch anything that has to do with heating: Boiler, Radiator, Iron, Cookers, Oven, that's what controls your Energy Bill.

Thanks @solumtoya for your inputs. Please can you expantiate on the "be careful of the contract...." do you mean the housing contract or the job contract? So I can know how to roll up my sleeves. Do I pick gas heating over electric heating? Thanks allot for your time.

Good evening great people of God. May God bless you and bless your husstles. Please I would like my Sabi people to help Torchlight on this matter as I be proper jjc.

I am moving to Coventry in 2 weeks time with my family of five on a tier 2 visa. Employer would assist in getting us accommodation while we pay. Please what are those things we should look out for in the rent terms. Is it wise to just pay for one month incase we need to move apartment or just stay put till we have gained a little ground?

Pls can someone who has lived in Coventry say something about the affordable areas and maybe a little advice as per settling down with family. Opening account, registering with GP etc.

I would have really loved if there is a little Coventry community one can familiarise with as it may be somewhat lonely in a new environment.

Thank you great people as you respond to my query.

IcecoldDon:
My online family, a wonderful day to you all. I feel so blessed and grateful for all the advice, knowledge, support and help i get from this platform directly and indirectly. My family ( wife and 3 kids) arrived safely to join me in the UK 2 weeks ago, and little by little, we have been acclimatizing and trying to settle down as a family. I have been here since October 2021, but based in Coventry as I am doing my Msc in Coventry University. But I rented a place in Birmingham as I preferred to settle there and my extended family (2 brothers) also live there. The whole process of 'japaing' with the entire family, the mental, physical, emotional and financial stress will be story for another day.

This post is to give accolades to all the elders and everyone who regularly give feedback, responses and information on this thread, which i believe might just be the last genuinely world-class level of goodness and humanity left for nigerians to nigerians who despite being strangers are so good and kind to each other. May God continually bless you on here. There are too many people to mention here who have been towering icons of knowledge and help, to both me and hundreds, requiring information for life changing decision, God will continuously richly bless and keep you and your families.

From my experience, and following the give back culture of the elders of this thread, these a a few of what i learnt that might help other people as well;
1. If a family plans to relocate, It helps a great deal if the husband or wife comes alone first, to try to settle things down in terms of accommodation especially, and other arrangements especially if 2 or more kids are involved. I know this isn't possible for all families, but from my personal experience it helps sooo much especially in terms of cutting down initial expenses and ensuring the best decisions are taking without too much pressure.....e.g kids in winter cold..arrrgh.
2. Try as much as possible that you have family or very close friends in your final destination town. The help of people already settled in a place can be invaluable in terms of all the help they can give. I can testify to this. My brothers saved me over and over, from helping me pick up household items that i bought, to helping me install beds and carry couches, standing as rent guarantor, to doing grocery shopping and helping me set up the house before my family arrived. As much as possible, base decisions on where you have a deep prior relationship, it is very very hard when you do not know anybody.
3. The couple should endeavor to save as much as possible, in terms of the partner in UK as well as the one back in Nigeria. Plans for selling properties and possessions should start early enough and be organized for maximum returns. We started a month early, itemized all the things we would sale in a excel table with predicted prices and actual prices to guide us. You will be surprised how much can be done with Jiji website as well as a page called Declutter, as long as you know how to navigate these platforms. Try to avoid selling or listing things to family and friends, you won't get good prices but rather gift them what you can spare and use social media to sell your stuff.
4. Use scale at home to weigh your luggage before going to the airport to avoid some boxes being rejected due to overload.
5. Utilize all the free websites available in UK and ebay used sections when you arrive. You will be amazed the good deals on offer if you are patient and know just where to look.

These are all i can quickly remember for now. I am fully settled now, done inspection for schools for my barely 6 year old(in 2 weeks) who will join Year1 in April for their third term, and my 3 year old who will be in nursery. We are trying to get a healthcare job for my wife while I try to round up my Msc program and and simultaneously look for a sponsored job ( I am construction project management in case anyone can refer...Lol), so I am just looking forward to the next chapter in my family's life.

Thank you all so much, sorry for the long long post, I am just so grateful to God and all of you...especially those that constantly responded to all my constant questions and inquiries here even when searching for accommodation etc. Lol. Long live this thread.

Hello! Thanks for your long lenghty message. It's really educative. Please is there a way I can get your email or mobile? I will be on Coventry next month and there are so many questions I want to ask about the place. Thank you.

My email is yemstico@gmail.com.

Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by yemstico: 12:28pm On Dec 07, 2021
Good afternoon everyone. Am happy to be here. Great Nairalanders!

Please permit me to call myself a fresher. I just want to apply for student visa against May/June or September 2022.

My questions are:
When do i start the process? Am looking for a budget friendly school and where accommodation is reasonably reduced. Course of study is *social work*. Am applying with dependants, hubby and 3 kids. How much am I supposed to have as POF?

I may be needing help with filling the form as well. Being here I know I don't need an agent anymore because alot of people have testified form previous pages av read without agent.

Please I need all the help and assistance on where to start from. I have read previous pages but this one is practical and I don't want to make mistakes.

God bless you famz as you respond. May you prayers be answered. Amen.

Whoever told you placenta is added to baby's in utero weight and not mummy's total weight gain probably finished from Iya Alagbo community medical college. cheesy

Why are people so fast to castigate! yh 0.6kg obviously.even the lady in question overlooked and made her comment. In my last comment placenta is added to body weight I would say. Iya Alagbo community medical college is totally unnecessary even tho it may sound so funny. pls be more sensitive. Thanks

Hello Mamas,
Please is it ok for baby to weigh 3kg at 35 weeks and also scan shows baby is 36weeks while from my LMP its 35 weeks? Please i need help as i am scared of all this tearing ohhh and besides i have not been eating through this pregnancy and its not because i do not want to eat but i got low appetite since i fell pregnant. My bump is as though i am 4 months pregnant and yet scan is putting fear into my head as the dr said baby may add more before delivery if i get to 40 or 40+ weeks. Please what can i do ? I need small baby at birth ohh, the tearing scares the living daylight outta me grin

Hello sis. The weight u were told at the scan center still includes your placenta so in actual fact your baby himself is not up to 3kg. Keep the faith!

Bosslady am sure its because of the rising dollar rate that caused the increase in prices.
bossladyMo:
Is Aptamil now 4,500? Wow. Before I left Naija, Lagos, just a few months ago...the prices were -
Aptamil 900g - 3,700/3,750
Enfamil refillable tin 625 g - 7,500
Enfamil refill 2 x 625g - 11,000
Enfamil non-refillable tin - 6,500
Similac was around the Enfamil price range. It's also better to do the refillable Enfamil.
As you can see, Aptamil offers more quantity and
lesser price. But it is 1scoop to 1oz...so it almost adds up with Enfamil which is 1scoop to 2oz, at the end of the day.

To cook tom brown, mix the quantity you want in cold water from onset bt make sure ders more water cos it will swell and thicken wen done.keep turning till it cooks.jst like u want to cook pap. 6 months baby can take it thats why u av to make sure the shaft of soya beans is discarded. You don av to mix it with pap cos combination of the tom brown alrdy contains maize. When tom brown is cooked add ur babys formula, mix and feed. Its healthy and makes babies add weight.

You can wash your babys bottle with a seperate long brush or sponge just for the bottles alone then u can put them in a clean preferably white plastic and put milton tablet in it and add water just to cover the bottle.you can also store in sterilising unit if u av steady nepa supply.

CharmyBliz:
ow do u wash ur child's bottle? wat do u use?
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by yemstico: 3:28pm On Mar 18, 2015
Gr8fulheart,tom brown is the combination of maize, millet soya milk and groundnut. Its mostly eaten by notherners but its now known by a few here in the south.we use to get from kaduna in those days.
It usually comes in powder for so u can store in a dry container. I make for my baby tho its a tedious exercise bt worth it. You fry your maize in a dry pan, also fry ur groundnut too(u can buy one derica)do same to millet then as for the soya beans fry it first then grind roughly to remove the shaft, blow away the shaft(the shaft is not good for consumption) after that combine all these four ingredients and grind all togeda then store in an air tight container.

Gr8fulHeart:
@nita, tnks 4dt detailed corn preparatn mixture.
Pls I want to ask what is tom brown? I hear ppl talking abt it.
Secondly, dt soyabeans, sm say boil and sun dry, some say fry and grind. Biko wich is d real one? Mama, pls answer

Kimoni i feel u.Nitas maybe frm the newly manufactured bt wen i had my baby even the hospital said i shldnt give gripe water and nospamin so i used Infacol which was gentle for my babys tummy. Reason why i said i feel Kimoni was that the doctors also said we shldnt load our kids with diff drugs and we shld let their bodies build their own antibodies. Tis well, may God help us mothers, amin.
NB: There are two types of gripe water. Nigeria and imported.

Nita2013:
Sorry dear but I beg to differ. Gripe water can be given from birth. I just checked d dosage on d one I av, it states "for new born infant, half of 5ml" that's 2.5ml.

It's recommended in many naija government hospitals from birth. My sis had her daughters in govt owned hospitals and they wrote it as part of what she should buy

Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by yemstico: 9:34am On Mar 18, 2015
Please give INFACOL instead of gripe water. Infacol can be given from birth but gripe water cant if u read the pack.

Nita2013:
If u r not doin exclusive dear then u can give water. I ll advice u give oh cos my son was exclusively breast fed and now he hates water with passion. Though I hear some exclusively breast fed babies do take water well.

Gripe water is very good for d tummy and navel. I gave my baby for 2 months I think.

Lol @paracetamol. Pls do not give paracetamol except ur baby is runnin temperature oh. After all d many carrying, ur MIL should press d baby's body well while bathing ur baby. U can also give baby massage. Baby massage is super good and that enables mother and child time

Thanks alot Nita2013!

Nita2013:
Yemstico hi,
For rice cereal, I buy uncle ben's brown rice. D small pack. It's about 1200k then I blend d rice usin dry blender into powder form. U can take it to d market so d pple usin big grinding machine can grind it. It's smoother that way. Store in an air tight container. Then to make it, boil water in a pot. While d water is boiling, add like 2-3 tablespoon of d grinded rice cereal, keep stairing and allow to cook for 15-20mins on low heat. If it's too thick while cookin u can add water to get desired texture. Allow to cool down a little and add ur breastmilk or formula in desired quantity then serve. Store d remaining grinded powder in d freezer.

Do same with oatmeal but I use Old fashioned Quaker Oat.

Most pple prefer oatmeal cereal cos of d high fibre content thus reduces d chance of constipation.
