This is the solution. What you are experiencing is called cold start rattle. It is common with Toyota. Basically your VVT actuator/ camshaft gear is faulty or timing chain tensioner is worn. Oil drains from the cam gear while the vehicle is sitting. That's why the engine rattles upon startup.
It's the camshaft gear plus timing chain guides and tensioner that needs replacing. While you are in there you might also consider replacing the water pump.
