Ok, I'm willing to help, busy at the moment but should be free the week before Jan 9, so let me squeeze in a little bit of research. Is there a particular reason you're looking at these courses? Send me a message by mail but still share your questions here to get faster and more diverse responses. Good luck, amazing girl! Fardowsa: |
Awww, don't worry, you will receive a favourable response from IRCC soon, wishing you all the best. And thank you for doing the right thing. Leadforteservic: |
Hello, You are on the right track by trying to figure out your options using this forum. My advice is go to Google and YouTube and type in " affordable schools to study nursing in Canada", watch as many videos as you can. List out your preferable options based on cost and/or province, then go to the school's websites to check for requirement I.e. if your neco result will be accepted. Then come back here to page 1 and read through list of required documents to submit your application to IRCC. Ask questions as you go along if you need to, good luck! Fardowsa: |
Hello, This is a young person and even though you may not have intended to be insensitive,it came across as that. You can advice and make suggestions and applaud the fact that a 17 yr old took the initiative in the first place to ask questions on this forum, we have full blown adults asking this same question that get answers. Awww, thank you and amen to the prayers. 2pretty4u: |
Hello, Applicant should notify IRCC of the new passport before submitting, do this via webform and emails, try to send this information 2-3 times. Then go ahead to submit the new passport only, it will be stamped without issues. This is what I did for my study visa that was approved recently. But since you said the new passport isn't ready and your typically have to submit within 30days of being notified, what's your plan? Eddy4400: |
Long post alert! Been on this thread for a while and I'm an older applicant. Started trying express entry around 2018 but something was always not aligning, transcript wahala and then low CRS scores. Wanted to try the student route in 2019 but a friend said because of my age, I most probably wouldn't get approved, so I abandoned it. In 2020, same friend advised me to try the student route for my daughter and that's when I came to this thread and it helped me tremendously to package my daughter's application which was approved and I've shared the story here too. So, while I was doing research for my daughter's application here, I'd see older people once in a while with approved applications, I started considering it again, the more I read about approvals for people within my age range, the more encouraged I became, so I took the plunge. Long story short, below is my timeline Upfront medical - April 2022 Application submitted - 28 June 2022 (new portal used) Sent a webform in July to ask them to update medicals. Medicals passed - 20 August 2022 Eligibility review started - 31 October 2022 BVL & PPR - 3 November 2022 PP submitted - 4 November 2022 (Lagos VFS) PP received - 22 November 2022 Documents submitted LOA SOP (3 pages) Passport biodata page MBA transcript Other professional certificate(s) Resume MBS - personal account MBS - business account Bank reference letter stating I'm sole signatory Coy registration documents Coy Invoices and PO's Board resolution letter, confirming my leave from work and that coy was going to fund my studies Same person affidavit cos name arranged differently on different official documents Notarized Letter of support by spouse - saying that he'd take care of our kids and help oversee my business. MBS of spouse's coy account IELTS & WES - submitted cos I had it Old and valid visas and stamped passport pages PCC Deed of assignment Birth certificates of my kids Passport biodata page of spouse Passport biodata page of mum (expired) Death certificate of father 4 pictures - with spouse, kids and mum Things that may have helped me: * I have valid US and Canadian visit visas and just returned from a recent trip to Canada to visit daughter. * I approached 2 MP's, one responded and said background check was passed but eligibility hadn't started as at September, other MP didn't respond. * After my return from Canada in September, sent about 5/6 webforms and same amount of emails, sent about once every week, different days of the week. Different story each week but basically asking for a decision to be made on my application. * Didn't apply with second daughter and husband * Tuition paid in full * My coy is funding my studies, so included a board resolution letter approving amount to be spent. This platform has been great and I can't quantify the wealth of information you can get from here as long as you're patient and willing to research, will share some tips: If you're following this thread or any other one you're interested in, leave the tab open on your device, that way you can come back and continue from where you stopped, just refresh to load new pages. You won't then miss responses to any questions you've asked or new points/stories that have been shared. Use the notes app on your phone. If there's any information that has been shared on nairaland or any other platform that you think will be useful to you or someone else, copy it out and paste it in the notes app. This way, that information is easily accessible to you in the future, just use your search tab on the app. I find this is more helpful than screenshots. Google and YouTube the heck out of everything! NairaLand is great because it gives you the perspective of Nigerians living in Nigeria, who are on the same journey as you but there are other resources you should make use of because it shows you what other nationalities are doing to get their applications approved. Some simple questions can even easily be answered once you use Google & YouTube, believe me you get samples of documents, updates on travel requirements, school recommendations, meaning of abbreviations, literally everything is available there, just type in key words and voila, you're in. Lastly, thank you to each and everyone that has shared their journey here, thank you to people who've lent a helping hand to total strangers. As someone who is private myself, I know the first instinct might be not to bother to share your story but trust me, it helps in encouraging and hopefully giving people the needed push. My program starts in January 2023 and once I'm settled in, I "wish" to help people reach out to MP's cos I noticed they hardly respond to people living outside of Canada, I'm hoping it will be possible. This offer will be free and for people whose applications have significantly gone beyond the standard processing time and it will be at my discretion. Best of luck to everyone! |
Wow, have you tried reaching out to MP? Silas12345: |
Hello, Did you send your medical examination sheet, either by webform or email? I mean the upfront medicals you did in February? Did you also go for the one you said you booked on 13th of September? If you didn't, I think you should re-upload your initial upfront medical examination sheet, send by webform and emails. Also post this on the student side to get more contributions. Hope this helps. Wow, that's ridiculous. Probably, they're confused as well cos they must have just started it, lol. Cheebu: |
Yes, visa will still be valid. Note: check the validity date on the visa o, the visa is valid until that date. Ojb555666: |
Oh, this must be new then, my apologies! Makes no sense, just like you've said. But is this only applicable if your permit was refused the first time? Cheebu: |
Per your second point, as long as you have the yellow paper you were given when you went to do your biometrics for the first time or a copy of it and you submit to the same place your biometrics was captured, you don't pay transmission fees. Cheebu: |
Your passport will be stamped up to the date of its expiration. Please note that the visa on your passport is for entry/exit into Canada. At the port of entry, you will be issued your study permit which will also be to the point of validity expiration of your passport. After entering Canada and when you have a new passport, you will apply for study permit extension and a new study permit will be issued to cover for your program duration. If you need to travel, you will also need to apply for TRV so that your new passport will also be stamped. Hope this helps. kvngosas: |
Hi again, Typically, passport renewal is done six months to expiration of your passport. However, they have what is called "migration" or something like that, you can renew your passport if you have more than six months to the expiration, especially for reasons like getting study visas. Yes, you pay more but it's achievable. jaydave: |
Correction: if you have a valid visa on an old passport, that visa will still be valid even though you have a new passport, that's why the immigration will stamp "without prejudice" on the old passport. You can still use the visa, just take both passports along for your trip. Secondly, if you renew your passport, send the new biodata page through webform and to Nairobi email and when you receive PPR, you can send the new passport, it will be stamped, regardless that you used an old passport for the initial application. Just like you said, the old passport number is indicated on the new one and there should be no issues. Hope this helps. jaydave: |
Love this!!! Congrats to you and your family! zurryland: |
Hello, Your father is clearly financially capable but you still have to convince the VO of this, I've seen a few responses to your question which are all valid and you should consider everything but I wanted to chip in what we did for my daughter's application as it may help you or someone else. For said application, we used our business accounts (mine and my husband's), no personal bank accounts were submitted, my kid was a minor so no SOA submitted for her as well. This is what we submitted: 1. 6 months MBS for each company account 2. Company registration documents: certificate of incorporation, form CO2 & CO7, memorandum and articles of association etc 3. Sales invoices 4. Board resolution letter confirming that the company and its board are aware of the sponsorship and will be paying the school fees for the period stated ( this is very important) 5. Bank reference letter confirming that I'm the sole signatory of my business account, the bank reference letter for my husband's coy didn't state this, just confirmed how long the account has been running 6. We also submitted an affidavit of sponsorship saying that in our capacity as owners of coy X and Y, we will be responsible for sponsoring our child's education. Note 1 - we are majority shareholders in our separate businesses. Note 2 - your father's personal bank account is sufficient, especially if there are no lump sums. You can use this on its own or add the coy's account as additional boost. Hope this is helpful, all the best! Peace634244: |
Hello, I'm super impressed that you want to be fully involved in your application. First of all, as your parents said, don't worry too much, everything will turn out ok for you, amen. So to your questions, you've started reading the thread, that's the first logical step to take. The documents you require is similar if not the same as people doing PGD, so use that as a guide and tweak/amend as needed. According to IRCC, you will get a decision about 13 weeks after submission and/or when your biometrics is received, this timeline is NOT accurate, it may be earlier but in most cases it's later than the 13 weeks. So, it means you're cutting it close if you submit an application now but go ahead to submit once you're ready, just double check with your school to see if you can defer resumption in case you don't get a reply on time. Timeline as below: 1. Submit application 2. Go for biometrics 3. Go for medicals ( not compulsory but recommended, you can even do this before submission or any time along the line) 4. Wait for medicals to be passed, if applicable 5. Wait for eligibility to start 6. Receive decision I posted what I did for my daughter's application when she was going to a Canadian high school, I believe it may be of help to you, you can click on my moniker to read it. Wish you the very best! birchwood: |
Children below 12 years can travel without being vaccinated as long as they are accompanied by parents who are fully vaccinated, you can Google for further details. Hope this helps. Solidprof: |
Travelled recently using Egypt air and you do not have to do a COVID test as long as you are fully vaccinated, you will show your vaccination card at the airport and make sure your QR code is scannable. All the best! Amicableoga: |
Hello, I used the new IRCC portal, not GC key. May79: |
Hello, I submitted to the same VFS where biometrics was captured so no transmission fees required. You do have to include the yellow paper you were given during biometrics, 2 copies of signed consent form and 2 copies of biodata page on which you will write your phone no and email address. Hope this helps. Oniqer: |
Hello, As someone advised, you can fill electronically but you must print out to sign. Also remember it must be notarized by the custodian in Canada and the parents/guardians in Nigeria. Somidotun5: |
Congratulations to you and your wife! I do have some questions, will send you a mail, thanks. purespikes: |
Hello, Did you get a response to this or how did you eventually submit their passports? Was it submitted together in one envelope or different envelope for each person? Also, did you use a 2-way courier service? hereandnow65: |
Hello, 1) I will suggest you go ahead to open IRCC account for her, either using the new portal or GC key and answer the questionnaire, once you've done that if a custodian letter is required by IRCC, a placeholder will be available for it and you can then go ahead to get it. 2) Since you have a valid visit visa, you can accompany her, I don't believe there's need to include that in her application. Make sure yours is a return ticket so that at port of entry, you can show that you're returning to Nigeria once she's settled in. Tcrown2020: |
Hello, I just opened my mail and all the notifications were there. BVL and PPR for myself and spouse and only PPR for my daughter as she's a minor (she didn't do biometrics). I know in some cases, PPR comes a couple of days after BVL is received. You can send mails or use webform to ask for update on your decision. Wishing you the very best! Annettevoke: |
PPR Alert - Visit visa, family of 3 Submission: 11th Jan Biometrics: 17th Jan PPR: 9th Feb Purpose: to visit daughter who is studying in Ca. New portal used |
Disclaimer: I'm not VO o If you plan on changing schools, you can submit a new application, it may even be processed fast as you've passed eligibility and background check from your initial application. Make sure in your SOP/LOE, you explain clearly the reason why you're changing DLI's. I had to submit another application for my daughter after her 1st one was approved because she changed schools, the reason was the province her school was in was not allowing students into the province that period. I attached the letter we received from the school as proof and a new approval was issued in exactly 2 months time. Let me add that this is for a secondary school scenario. So, there are no guarantees but if you feel convinced enough, go for it. Best of luck! MsLoolah: |
