Lol, ofcourse i'm not happy, £850/pcm .... Lexusgs430: When you pay your rent happily, you want to live in a happy environment.........
NB : You might not be happy paying expensive rent, but understand my point........ |

Whewwww, i'm at a crossroad going by this suggestion, starting the process of getting somewhere else is dreadful, cost implication and the stress. I totally understand your point, not having to tiptoe around the house cos of one neighbor.. Lexusgs430: The noise complaints would not stop....... Assuming you sign another 6 months, are you happy to reside in such an apartment, with the tension?.... |

yeas, my tenancy was for 6 months and the last month just commenced today. So they have initiated the renewal of the tenancy for another 6 months, we are yet to sign it cos of all this drama.. Lexusgs430: You stated 'they said' tenancy was for 6 months? How many months is on the tenancy agreement you signed?... |

Whewwww, time to move? haaaaaa Lexusgs430: You are very lucky your contract is about to expire...... Unfortunately it's time to move to avoid such nasty emails and confrontation from your neighbours......

Helloooo my people,
I have got an issue here that i need you guys to vet before i respond, below is my short story:
My family and I got a flat at the topmost floor of a 2 Storey Building 6 months ago. We have a toddler who wants to express himself by jumping up and down the whole place, we try to caution him but then again, a baby is a baby no matter what. About 2 months ago, we got a call from our agent that the neighbor right below us lodged a complaint of disturbance but the Property Manager clearly told us that it is not a crime and there is nothing they can do about it, it was just for our information. Meanwhile they knew we had a child when we filled out forms, so they have got it in their records. The flooring of the lounge is wooden so noise is inevitable. We went a step further to buy a massive centre rug to cushion the effect of the noise but i guess it did't do much.
Now i got an email from a different Property Manager (I'm guessing she is now the new Manager in charge of our property) on another complaint, see below the mail:
Good afternoon, I do hope that this email finds you well. We have had another noise complaint regarding this property. Please ensure that you keep the excessive noise such as banging down to a minimum. If we receive another complaint we will have to take this further.
I have got a lot of things against her but then again, i need to add more points to ground her, hence my coming here and also to share.
The said tenancy agreement was for 6 months and expires next month, we have indicated our interest in renewing to avoid the stress of moving house, and she even went ahead to send us a new contract the same time she sent this mail.
I will reply her as soon as i get enough points and will ensure i copy their general office email and see what comes out of it. |

This is very true....I did same too beyondbasicsng: @sutelk your child needs to do the TB test (they won't be doing a chest x-ray, they'll just ask the parent a few questions and do a simple examination)
For your wife, she doesn't require either IELTS/UKNARIC, not for the visa type anyway. |

You are driving a big car mate, cos fueling a 2.4 litre engine is not beans..you are the boss na. The feel is good especially when you turbo but my pocket is the determinant right now, i will grow up like you one day, lol. And about breeze blowing the car, driven it on the motorway already and not so bad afterall...I know there are some bad wind like that sha, but there are even smaller cars so i'm not alone, lol DaveChapelle: for third party, based on my experience, i would only be saving about £200+, So comprehensive is probably more cost effective, till one is 100% confident on British roads, esp as we enter winter! My car was 2.4 litre engine and my insurance @ 16,000 miles/ annum cost me about £2,000 est. It begs to wonder if i did myself a good deal. I don't mean to brag about being a petrol head, but i do enjoy a spirited drive now and then, and i don't think any 1.something engine would give me that pleasure! Still, the insurance here is crazy, I wonder if breeze can blow that colt when trailer overtakes? |

lol @ helping to stimulate the economy... No, did't get any blue book but i'm really not expecting anything out of a Mitsubishi of 2004. I am yet to get a quote for 3rd party, just went straight for comprehensive... salford: you are doing a good job in helping to stimulate the economy.
Is there a bluebook to check how much your 2004 colt is worth in case it gets totalled?
Are the quotes you got for comp and 3rd party similar? if they are similar, comp will be good, if not 3rd party would be okay. |

Yes o, that link with MOT history make sense o baba. Yeah, there is always a better car, i agree with you. Okay, will pay for the HPI, i almost did Ijebu to overlook it. Thanks very much Lexusgs430: Yes, this should form a major part of the checks you undertake, prior to purchase.......
Simply put registration number and click on MOT history....
Use MOT historical data has a snapshot, but still conduct your own proper physical inspection......... If it does not look right, just walk away..... Their is always a better car one phone call away ......
Also pay for an HPI check, to ensure vehicle is not a write off or on finance .........

Thanks Boss, physical inspection is very key but not sure one should expect an extraordinary clean car as it still remains a used car. Will ensure i get a 3 months warranty on it and hope for the best.... nomad26: The MOT test is done once a year so the history may or may not reveal that information but you should definitely check it. Also, I'd advise to inspect the car before you buy it, especially if you're buying from a private seller. When I bought mine, I went with a mechanic friend who inspected the car and we did a test drive before completing the deal. |

Please guys can one use the history of a car's MOT to know if the car had had major issues in the past?
I know of a fact that used car na used car, anything can happen at anytime, just trying to play as safely as possible.

Hguys,
I'm back again to share my testimony just as promised. All Thanks to God and to you all for your advise, it really worked wonders, especially the one from @ESULALU, he practically took me through the lesson via Nairaland, big ups to you Boss.
I passed my practical driving test today with just 5 lessons, yes, 5. Infact, i had just 4 minor faults.
This is to encourage those that are yet to or probably almost given up that they can do it.
Thank you, thank you and thank you. |

Whaoooo, this is a real lesson bro... thanks a lot and I will ensure I take note of all these... ESULAALU: 5 lessons Seeing your level of determination, I really don't want you to waste your time so if you live close to the SE postcodes the EASIEST place to pass on first attempt is Hither Green. Now, you have booked 5 lessons, it means you will need to take those lessons on the possible routes the examiner will ask you to drive on. The road signs are good to follow. The examiners often avoid going on the major routes in hither green in the morning because of rush hour which causes a build up of traffic especially approaching the roundabout there. Most stick to the 30mph inner roads.Occassionally, some examiners might insist venturing on the major roads but the routes are easy to travel on even with minimal practice, beware of bus lane/times(avoid completely if possible) and master traffic lights for your own routes- important! However, that being said generally brush up on the following: Practice your show me tell me questions, round about rules ( give way to the right always, no hesitation), always use your mirrors, all three and ensure examiner sees you doing it(especially when approaching junctions or exiting , you have to be on point with your MSM malarkey, mirror signal manoeuvre and all the associated neck twisting observations). Let youtube guide you as you do further personal practice. Practice your manoeuvre like parralel parking( align mirrors with car you intend to park behind or align with fuel tank if parking right in front of car, steer left- sight the v shape as it aligns with the kerb, pause, steer right and straighten up, this is one manoeuvre you will need quite often). Emergency stop, bay parking etc
Good luck and your comment brought me back to life in the travel section. Justwise how you dey and vicjustice? Welldone o! |

Th weather, na layers of clothes o from top to bottom, abeg veterans, what kinda indoor thermal wears do you advice and where to get them? sorry about the gorimapa, na afro mesef dey carry now o sutelk: 5 lessons? Hmm, following seriously, maybe I may use 2. Not taken this driving thing seriously, don't know if its because its so convenient for me to move around in public transport or because of the fear of failing going by the testimonies of those that have attempted before me. Met a guy this week who told me he has been trying since 2015. But this your 5 classes target is giving me hope. Go come back. As per weather, if you think you look like masquerade, with until you see me. And I made the big mistake of shaving my head 2 days ago, now my brain has no natural insulation. I think I now have an excuse to grow my afro, now I can say its the weather not the money. |

Baba, lwkmd, this money isn't easy to come buy o, after i had driven in Nija for over 18years, na risk but my first lesson gave me hope. Lets see how it pans out...Na, i live in a small and not busy city, and the driving test is usually done in the same area... DisGuy: Only 5 lessons...are you from Ijebu? Just hope your area is not too busy with annoying motorists that can make you commit. Good you set yourself a target, at least after the first test you will get an idea of what they are looking for |

Good morning Guys,
I hope we are all enjoying the weather. Its getting to me already o so i'm dressed like a masquerade in the house. Trying to push it as far as i can before using the heater.
I passed my Driving Theory Test, all Thanks to God, although that Hazard Perception na border line tins. I used Theory 4in1 app, it did a good job and it took me about a week plus, although serious studying and good sticky memory should be able to achieve it in 3days. Booked for the practical already and got a driving school, £25/hour. I told them i've got only 5 lessons to do, whichever way they wana do it, its up to them. Low and behold, it wasn't as bad as i thought, first lesson was good and i did't face one-way, lol.
Just to give you all a heads up.
Its been silent here though, where are you guys @fatima04, @lexusgs430, @wonlasewonimi, @iamconfused, @sutelk, @Inkredible, @DaveChapelle... |

Thanks a lot @Inkredible & @Lexusgs430, will just find one low emission tuketuke car abeg and run with that first Lexusgs430: Some companies provide company vehicles or provide soft loans, to employees....... Strictly company dependent on/or roles.........
To cut running cost and insurance bills, get a vehicle with very low emissions footprint. Vehicles like Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1, lion king 106 etc etc
I would personally not advice financing a £3000 vehicle, simply because that small £3000 finance, could eventually turn into a whopping £5800 final payment. At the end of your repayment circle, the vehicle might only be worth under £500..........
My 2 pence ....... |

Good evening everyone,
Just to get a clearer picture of what direction in terms of buying a car out-rightly for like £1000 tops or finance an averagely okay and not too old car for like £3000.
Correct me if i'm wrong please, I'm aware that a car of £1000 will probably have an insurance that is higher than the cost of the car itself and high maintenance..is it really worth it?
Also, will someone that has only resided in the UK for 3 months be able to get a company to finance a car?
I'm looking at Ford Fiesta to be able to reduce the cost of the insurance but don't know about its maintenance compared to Toyota brands.
Please guys let me know your thoughts on this... |
