You are also a sickle cell patient. So just be honest.

You can apply for job can she?

You move freely without help, can she?

You can walk up to any girl and toast her can she?

Before you reply comments next time always think before you reply.

We are both sickle cell patients and we know what we face might be painful but can't be compared to her.

And next time don't reply me angrily sugar qouting the reason you did. I know you, as a religious fanatic and you did reply me because I out God in that comment not because you really wanted to.

What's the logic behind killing a disabled person simply because he/she is disabled?!

A society is measured by how it treats the weak and disabled.
Not in Nigeria. If this was in the west I would have praised the efforts. But here its a no no.

I have been to hospitals, somethings you see You wonder why are they still allowed to suffer such misery.

In western countries they are taken care of well and you sef go see then get joy

Let me be honest, my reply might sound harsh or inconsiderate

But things like this makes me say to myself why not take the life of such an individual than allow that person go on suffering in life?

It's not worth it. I feel for her but she shouldn't be allowed to go through this..

And someone tells me there is a God.

TI1919:
The Bible said rejoice with them that are rejoicing so nothing is wrong with celebrating with the world, however we would all give account of our daily life one day and for that purpose I will suggest that you repent and have Jesus for your salvation.

No man will see peace without Christ in his life
And you should rejoice with those that are rejoicing even when the festivity or celebration goes against your bible standards?

Why don't you go to shrine and join them in their celebration because they are rejoicing and your bible said you should do so?

You made your comments look like you Christians shouldn't matter as long as there is a celebration. If this is true , I don't see why your bible should give this instructions as recorded in book of Jeremiah - "Learn not the way of the heathen" (Jeremiah 10:2).

The apostle Paul wrote: “What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial?” For good reason, Paul added: “Quit touching the unclean thing.”—2 Corinthians 6:14-17a.

Christians also realize that taking part in superstitious rituals does not guarantee happiness and prosperity—especially since participating in such festivities can result in God’s disfavor. (Ecclesiastes 9:11; Isaiah 65:11, 12) Furthermore, the Bible admonishes Christians to be moderate and self-controlled in their conduct. (1 Timothy 3:2, 11) Clearly, it would be improper for one who professes to follow Christ’s teachings to be part of a celebration that is characterized by riotous excess.
Christianity EtcRe: Some Truths For The New Year-2016 by Ymodulus: 1:04am On Jan 01, 2016
Am still surprised as to how Christians celebrate a festivity without carrying due research to determine the origin of such a festivity or if it's what celebrating.

They are so quick to misquote their holy books to support their wrong celebrations.

No offence but you need to ask yourself if your God does exist will be really want you to celebrate what you happy about now.?

It's really crazy Celebrations rooted in Paganism is celebrated by Christians. So much for religion. Opium of the masses.

Hello, everyone!

I hope you enjoyed your christimas celebrations. I have had a great year and I'm so inspired for this coming next year. The point of this thread is to get atheists to join in and discuss these issues.
Lol @ Christmas. I was hoping there would be a celebration of satan's birth.

1) WITH THIS LAST ELECTION, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE QUESTIONING RELIGION- WHAT CAUSED IT?
Exposure i believe is everything.
Perhaps we have a generation of people who actually challenge the things that their elders took as gospel? I remember how religion was taught with no room for question. At best "the Lord moves in mysterious ways" was the only answer one could expect to a question. We finally have a youth that questions the "authority" of religion and may even see it for what it truly is, a MANMADE creation to satisfy questions that man himself had no answer to. The Golden Rule is the only rule that matter in life. All the other diversions called religion are polarizing and misleading. "Do unto others...." is the only true guiding tenet

2) WOULD YOU JOIN AN ATHEIST FORUM IF THERE WAS ONE JUST LIKE NAIRALAND BUT JUST FOR NIGERIAN ATHEISM?
I see no need for it. we should try to grow in the midst of other forums. this shows our influence

3) WHY ARE NAIRALAND MODS ALWAYS BIASED AND WHY DO THEY LOVE SENSELESS RELIGIOUS POSTS?
Marketing strategy. Traffic pay the bills. Seun understands this well.

4) HOW ARE YOU GONNA AVOID CHURCH MARRIAGE IN NIGERIA, YOU DIRTY INFIDEL? grin
hahahaha for me though, i cant have a wedding in a church. That will be the last thing i do. It has to be a court wedding or no wedding.

Marriage itself, is over bloated!!!

The carnage that followed the coup was entirely due to weakness and lack of clear realistic political objectives and discipline on the part of the military regime which inherited power.

The January coup was sufficiently successful for that regime to have rectified whatever was done wrongly and still retain power, discipline and respect.

However it is totally wrong, baseless and preposterous to base the killings of igbos up north by calling the coup "igbo coup".

The hate is real

I read the book and still have the copy. What has being a Biafra preacher got do with book?
95% of people that fight online for the biafra cause have 10% knowledge of what transpired during the Biafran war. Also many pro-biafran war supporters pick Chinua Achebe side of the story on the Biafran war in the book 'there was a country' neglecting all other account and labeling them as fake.

Meanwhile Chinua's story was one-sided and biased. Chimanda Adichie is an example of the blind followers.

PoliticsRe: Did You Read This Book ? Why We Struck? by Ymodulus(op): 6:18am On Dec 28, 2015
The striking point about the book for me is the;
- presentation of gripping facts and
- the connotations behind accounts.

I am not surprised as to these aforementioned points, given that the author was an officer of the Nigerian Army and graduate of History from the University of London. So I do say he has the knowledge of telling a story like historians do, presenting facts in an unblemished prose.

Ademoyega was an active plotter and participant in the January 15 1966 coup which many students of that troubled times believe was a major factor that led to the war. Although a Yoruba, Ademoyega fought for Biafra and was a key operator in the brief but highly controversial Biafran invasion of the Midwest. He was detained by the Ojukwu regime till the end of the war when, after a short spell of freedom, he commenced another spell of detention till 1974.

The book is significant because it is the first account of Nigeria’s first coup by a participant. It dispels many myths about that putsch and provides insights into developments that would eventually pitch brother against brother in July 1967.

Though the book answers many questions, it leaves one hanging on many points, like:

1. did Ademoyega really know the genesis of the January coup despite his claims that he and Majors Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna initiated it?

2. The book does not give us a deep insight into the Biafran military and administrative machinery. Till his death in 2007, Ademoyega justified the January 15 ‘revolution’ and argued trenchantly that it was the mishandling of its objectives by the soldiers who aborted the coup that laid the foundation for the subsequent crisis that led to Nigeria’s civil war

I feel this is the truest ( pardon my English ) account of the war story ever told.

I have the book along with "The Twelve-Day Revolution" by Isaac Boro; one other civil war book by Alex Madiebo and one i just found now "Reflections of the Nigerian Civil War" by Raph Uweche.

Reading these books when i was young, opened my mind to how Nigeria was back then. The world isnt simply black or white; there's a whole lot of grey. It helps to view it from different perspectives.

Was a bit disappointed with "There was a Country", the writer appeared biased. I guess that was how he saw the events then.

Still looking for Alabi-Isama's book and Banjo's "A Sequin of Flowers"

Also hope Gowon and T.Y. Danjuma do the world a favour and publish their own accounts of happenings then.

@cupidFlint to the best of my knowledge Ifeajuna's writings havent been published although there is rumoured to be a manuscript.
Same thing I said. Many on this forum think am against Biafra or hate Chinua and his student Adichie.

Chinua was biased.

mazzi:
At least the book put to rest the notion that 1966 coup was an igbo coup to perpetuate themselves in governance of nigeria.
Yes. The book settled many myths and more about the biafran war. And even have better reasonable explanation in some areas like awolowi reason or his act. This explanation is better than that of chinua Achebe's version in there was a country

Why don't we create a thread. And update it constantly with exchange rates and ways to help each other get cheap dollars. All these hoarding of rates and claiming posts here are so important that banks used them to determine their multi-billion naira business is trash.

It's time we create a thread and post of our free will and accord. No need for all this bank rubbish lies. If you don't feel happy with it then get of the thread.
