djdoxxx: Ymodulus of Life!!!! I strongly believe you...You just nailed it completely....Best part of this writeup is the last paragraph.....We must Let them know We made the impact....!!! There's really nothing much I can say again. The group has been created already both on WhatsApp and Facebook.....We really mean business!!! All we need is to put good strategies in place and move on from there...there's no time for arguments, my brother....whoever is arguing is wasting his time as the person would be ignored....we would take steps to arrange for online meetings and specific days we would all be available for these online meetings so we don't disturb our private businesses.... I strongly believe we would advance from there.....Only We can make Nigeria the Nigeria we want; no one else!!! Prayers, Fastings, keeping mute and silence has not done us any good and it would never!!! Oops don't have a Facebook account. |

U understand your experience. Most times when an in places, I just hide under the umbrella of a religion. To avoid unnecessary discussion or attention.
But recently, I have resolved to put atheist on all forms I fill.

AndroBlaze: To be honest I have not followed the flow of the discussion, but if some of us think that posting false or misleading information will "help" so that banks don't increase their rates, it quite naïve and shows a poor understanding of how our (or any) financial system works.
Anyone with insider knowledge of the banking system in Nigeria will tell you that setting rates is far more complicated than hearing on Nland your competitor's price- one main reason being banks already know this info.
So please people feel free to be your brother's keeper and post correct rates, information ia an ally in uncertain times, not the other way around. Also, more grease to everyone's elbow that this thread is still running strong, a shame tho that the first page is no longer updated. WOW!!!! Thanks for this beautiful reply. Splendid!!! |

There are now no openly atheist members of Politics in Nigeria, even most Nigerians with no religious affiliation, are gaining grounds in numbers. So far, i don't there has been no sitting political leader in Nigeria who came out to accept he/she is an atheist. Obviously, it's far easier to be a prostitute or member of so called occult groups and be a member of the a political party.
The reticence is pure political pragmatism. The reluctance of Nigerians to vote for atheists is one that needs no argument. Nigerians are ready to vote an idol worshiper who has no future for the country than to vote an atheist who can change the nation in weeks. We live in a country where we are more religious than God himself. I ask myself sometimes that when people of faith question the morality of those without faith, how do they reconcile that with the countless crimes committed in the name of religion in history (e.g. Kaduna fight 2000 - 2003 ) and in recent times (e.g. BokoHaram)?
When the views of of a few 5% - 10% of the Nigerian people are not part of the debate in our legislatures, the laws that are passed may not fully reflect the will of the people or, at a minimum, take into account the opinion of a sizable minority. Imagine how people would react today if there were no Christians or Muslims in top political offices.
That admitted atheists are virtually unelectable is a mark of prejudice against them and it impacts the ways we formally educate the future leaders of this country. Consider the fact that Tennessee recently passed a law allowing teachers to tell their students that evolution and climate change are "scientifically controversial," and that Ohio is considering passing a law that would enable the teaching of intelligent design alongside evolution.
Why is it that we require our candidates to profess a religious faith, but not that they demonstrate even minimal scientific literacy?
As one prejudice after another has fallen by the wayside and we have elected women, terrorist sponsors, pedophiles, and even people not from our country to represent us, we have seen that the Nigeria has not come to an end. Life continues, and our debate is enriched by the diversity of opinions. It is time to end the prejudice that keeps qualified people without faith from considering a run for public office and keeps atheist officials from being honest about their beliefs.
In summary i support the decision of the poster. However, there is need for this participation to be an intelligent one. One that display and shows the high level of standards of atheist. We should not indulge in unnecessary argument over irrelevancies, or opposing one party to another. We should think how we can make an impact and let people know that atheist made the impact.

9free: Raise which kind yeye glass. Am glad that Jonathan was booted out. Under Jonathan, naira was devalued three times in six months leading to the election. Naira would have been exchanged @N400 to the dollar had he won the election. Okonjo Iweala would have swallowed Worldbank/IMF wuruwuru recommendations and devalue the naira even more. Buhari still remains a prophet not recognized in his own country. Do you guys know the amounts of pressure he has had to absorb quietly from those Western institutions and powers concerning naira devaluation? Jonathan would have succumbed to their demands had he won the election. I will rather not import and encourage made in Nigeria goods than support the most corrupt government ever. The problem is that why we are forced to use made in Nigeria goods. .the government and rich elites won't follow that line. |

mployer: You probably have not being following this thread closely. Firstbank visa card was N200 for months. Two days after the news got here, the rate changed. Skype was 215, few days after the news got here, their limits was slashed too 100 dollar per day. Gtb was 220 after IBTC rose to 235. Few hours after the news got here, their rate became 230. Somebody reminded us here that access is still 225, few hours later we heard 255. The pattern is that the low rate never changes until the news gets here. It is more than coincidence. Access is still 225. Very sure. Beside all you posted above does not mean. |

Banks monitor them self they don't need Nairaland They would just call the bank customer care and get every info they need shikina
Keep updates here This is what I said. I don't really need to come to nairaland. I can just call bank customer care that's easy or twit at their twitter page. That's even faster. So nairaland does not mean a thing to them |

mployer: cbn didn't set the rates. Most times they don't. It comes as an informal and undocumented agreement within the sector.
A banker friend to me how the banks came about the 0.1% charge on withdrawals from dormicialary accounts. He said they noticed that an importer in Aba can deposit 30,000usd in their Aba branch and come to Lagos the next day to withdraw it for a business trip. The money doesn't stay long in the bank and as a result do not benefit them. The banks had to come together and agree on 0.1% charge on every withdrawal from dormicialary account. At such times, one bank can't do it alone to avoid being blacklisted by customers, so they have to consult other banks to follow suit.
I believe something like this is happening presently in card forex. Cbn has not increased price, yet everyone is increasing price daily . And this is where CBN gets it wrong. As long as the FoREX of any country is concerned it is one of the vital elements that make up the macroeconomic variables. And it's too big to be neglected. Sir, on your 0.1% I don't think it works with Union Bank. I will try get a form I saw recently on that. |

mayorall: Oya watch , access bank is the cheapest now. Just wait till next week. They monitor competitors from here. Ain't being myopic. Nope, it cost nothing for them to go open account with all banks and use for online transaction, as a business man ready to make profit. You will do such. Beside the rates can be verified by calling customer care of any bank. You get rate for the day. So you don't need to say this thread. Take it or leave it, as long as the Central Bank of Nigeria gives banks free hand to determine their rate on their card, the Banks will continue to increase their rate. My problem, with Mr President and Governor of CBN is that, they want to peg the Dollar at all cost in 199/$1 but they forget to control the banks and yet want to control the black market. The macroeconomic variables in aspect of Interest rate, inflation rate have a direct significant relationship with exchange rate. However most economist will agree with me that this is the first time, we seeing some abnormalies. My brother, I am a stunt supporter of Buhari but I have to say if these is how we will go on during these era of so called corruption fight. Then please I want to go back to the Corruption era of Jonathan |
