I laughed when I saw the ignoramus claiming on a front page thread that the govt is hyping covid-19 in Nigeria. The most populous black nation in the world having less than 1000 cases and people are still talking shit that corona is scam. We should rather be doubting that the figures being announced is way too low than the actual cases. Mind u, Kano is likely having issues with test kits, so nobody has been tested there in the last 48hrs. Mo better start praying that it shouldn't boomerang, because if na per resources, we no fit. |

AmandaLuv:Embargo cuts across all federal government MDAs. Secondly, VCs are still the ones that will employ new staff and will then invite the IPPIS team for coverage. Ideally, IPPIS team is supposed to visit each institution once a year to recruit new staff. |

A drug championed by the US president as a possible cure for COVID-19 has been shown to provide no benefit and possibly a higher risk of death. Hydroxychloroquine had been championed by Mr Trump after anecdotal reports that the drug, which is also used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, could help coronavirus patients. However the new study found it might actually be harmful to those with the disease. The American research analysed the records of 368 male patients with confirmed coronavirus. They were all at veterans' hospitals in the US and died or were discharged by 11 April, according to a version of the study posted online. What is hydroxychloroquine and why is Trump so keen on it? Some 28% of 97 patients given hydroxychloroquine and standard care died, while 22% of the 113 patients who were given hydroxychloroquine and antibiotic azithromycin died. But the death rate among the 158 patients who received only standard care - without hydroxychloroquine - was 11%. The study, which took patients' individual characteristics into account, has not yet been accepted for publication in a medical journal but it has been submitted for expert review. Hydroxychloroquine also appeared to have no effect on whether a patient needed breathing support: 13% of those who got the drug needed ventilation, versus 14% of those who received only supportive care. Only 7% of those given the hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin needed help to breathe. Dr Jeremy Falk, a pulmonary specialist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said the study was one of a few in the past few weeks to have placed doubt on whether hydroxychloroquine is beneficial. Dr Falk, who was not involved in the study, said: "We were using it on just about everybody early on. Now we are using it more sparingly." There are no proven treatments for COVID-19, but hydroxychloroquine, an old malaria drug, has been getting a lot of attention thanks to Donald Trump promoting it as a "game changer". "What do you have to lose? Take it," he said earlier this month, adding that - while he has no medical or scientific training - his "common sense" qualified him to make such claims. However, because of a lack of conclusive scientific studies, the US government's top infectious disease specialist, Dr Anthony Fauci, had urged caution. https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-malaria-drug-pushed-by-trump-as-covid-19-cure-has-no-benefit-research-finds-11976830?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter |
jmaine:What I mean simply is that the payment won't be under the gifmis platform but will be paid straight from Abuja, a development that ASUU leadership is against. |

Thumb up to the federal govt if true, hope the states can replicate same. Lagos state already increased hazard allowance of health workers by 400% for the month of April. |
The Nigerian Government has just approved 3 months increase in allowances of medical doctors and other health workers in Nigeria, especially for those on the frontline of the fight against Covid-19. Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who lead the Federal Government team to meet with doctors and other Health workers said payment is expected to take effect from March 2020. The approval is for 3 categories of healthcare workers. The first category is payment of 50% of salaries as hazard allowance to health workers, while the second is 40% as consolidated salary for healthcare workers The last category of workers are those directly at isolation centres who will receive risk allowances of 20% and non-core health workers will get 10% of their salaries. Government further agreed to begin insurance for workers as well as the employees compensation insurance. While government agrees not to tax healthcare workers at this period, it however rejected a demand for extension of service for healthcare workers due for retirement during the COVID-19 period.. In attendance were the Minister of State for Health, Adeleye Momoara; Acting Executive Chairman, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Nta Ekpeyong; the National President of Nigeria Medical Association, Francis Faduyile and the National Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Unions, Biobelemoye Josiah as well as representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives. https://ait.live/fg-approves-special-covid-19-allowances-for-health-workers/ |
Victorious1000:It doesn't mean all 15 are active cases. |
Now that covid 19 curve of the rest of the world is plateauing and descending, ours is peaking. This is no joke. God! deliver us! |
LibrarianD:That last paragraph is the catch. The monies won't be released to the university heads to effect payment as it used to be, rather the VCs are to send the lectures' account details with BVN to Abuja for payment. This is still IPPIS in a non-conventional way. I wait to see ASUU's response. |

And maybe the murder was masterminded by Trump because he doesn't like Buhari, isn't it op? |
A prisone destined to die in the centre. Just had to be moved out for whatever reason to end his life where it was destined to be terminated. Destiny!! A person destined to take a knock at a particular moment will sneak out the head to take it when the time is ripe, even if he were to be inside a flying plane. |
Just reading through to see someone debunk the story but disappointed so far. Are the Caucasians this terrible. Still waiting for someone to debunk this anyway because it is too much to take. |
U haven't passed any message here. And I advise you work on your grammar, spellings and punctuations. |
