It always sadden me that such a blessed and holy place has been turned to a devils empire whereas all sorts of bad things happens and the most corrupt people dwell in
City of stairs

Manchester City's Premier League match with Arsenal on Wednesday has been postponed as a "precautionary measure" - and several Gunners players put into self-isolation - after Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis contracted coronavirus.

Arsenal said Marinakis, 52, met a number of their players when the Gunners hosted the Greek side in a Europa League match two weeks ago.

Marinakis - who also owns Championship side Nottingham Forest - said on Tuesday he had tested positive for Covid-19 .

Olympiakos will host Wolves in the Europa League on Thursday, after Uefa rejected Wolves' request for the last-16 first-leg match to be postponed.

Latest figures show 382 cases of the virus in the UK, with six deaths.

The disease, which can cause a fever, cough and breathing problems, is spreading around the world and has already affected more than 116,000 people.

It has affected the staging of sporting events around the world, including European matches involving Manchester United, Rangers and Chelsea which will be held behind closed doors in Austria and Germany in the coming days, but this is the first match in the UK to be affected.

The postponement means Premier League leaders Liverpool can no longer win their first title since 1990 this weekend.

Liverpool would have been crowned champions if City had lost to Arsenal at Etihad Stadium and then also been beaten by Burnley on Saturday.

HealthSecond Patient Cured Of HIV, Say Doctors by YorubaKinging(op): 8:57pm On Mar 10, 2020
A man from London has become the second person in the world to be cured of HIV, doctors say.

Adam Castillejo is still free of the virus more than 30 months after stopping anti-retroviral therapy.

He was not cured by the HIV drugs, however, but by a stem-cell treatment he received for a cancer he also had, the Lancet HIV journal reports.

The donors of those stem cells have an uncommon gene that gives them, and now Mr Castillejo, protection against HIV.

In 2011, Timothy Brown, the "Berlin Patient" became the first person reported as cured of HIV, three and half years after having similar treatment
What is the treatment?
Stem-cell transplants appear to stop the virus being able to replicate inside the body by replacing the patient's own immune cells with donor ones that resist HIV infection.

Adam Castillejo - the now 40-year-old "London Patient" who has decided to go public with his identity - has no detectable active HIV infection in his blood, semen or tissues, his doctors say.

It is now a year after they first announced he was clear of the virus and he still remains free of HIV.

Lead researcher Prof Ravindra Kumar Gupta, from the University of Cambridge, told BBC News: "This represents HIV cure with almost certainty.

"We have now had two and a half years with anti-retroviral-free remission.

"Our findings show that the success of stem-cell transplantation as a cure for HIV, first reported nine years ago in the Berlin Patient, can be replicated."

But it will not be a treatment for the millions of people around the world living with HIV.

The aggressive therapy was primarily used to treat the patients' cancers, not their HIV.

And current HIV drugs remain very effective, meaning people with the virus can live long and healthy lives.

Prof Gupta said: "It is important to note that this curative treatment is high-risk and only used as a last resort for patients with HIV who also have life-threatening haematological malignancies.

"Therefore, this is not a treatment that would be offered widely to patients with HIV who are on successful anti-retroviral treatment."

But it might offer hope of finding a cure, in the future, using gene therapy.

How does it work?
CCR5 is the most commonly used receptor by HIV-1 - the virus strain of HIV that dominates around the world - to enter cells.

But a very small number of people who are resistant to HIV have two mutated copies of the CCR5 receptor.

This means the virus cannot penetrate cells in the body it normally infects.

Researchers say it may be possible to use gene therapy to target the CCR5 receptor in people with HIV.

It is the same receptor the now jailed Chinese scientist He Jiankui worked on when he created the world's first gene-edited babies.

Is it a permanent cure?
The tests suggest 99% of Mr Castillejo's immune cells have been replaced by donor ones.

But he still has remnants of the virus in his body, as does Mr Brown.

And it is impossible to say with absolute certainty his HIV will never come back.

Mr Castillejo told the New York Times: "This is a unique position to be in, a unique and very humbling position.

"I want to be an ambassador of hope.

"I don't want people to think, 'Oh, you've been chosen.'

"No, it just happened.

"I was in the right place, probably at the right time, when it happened."

Prof Sharon Lewin, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, said: "Given the large number of cells sampled here and the absence of any intact virus, is the London Patient truly cured?

"The additional data provided in this follow-up case report is certainly encouraging but unfortunately, in the end, only time will tell."

Iran temporarily released about 70,000 prisoners because of the coronavirus contagion, as the death toll rose by 43 new fatalities to 237.

In Italy, where some 16 million people in Lombardy and other parts of the north are now under quarantine, there were 133 deaths reported, bringing the total to 366. More than 7,000 people in the country have been confirmed to have the virus.

But the latest figures from China and South Korea suggest the virus might be slowing in Northeast Asia.

More than 3,800 people have died worldwide from coronavirus and there are more than 110,000 infections, according to the World Health Organization.

An air strike in Somalia has killed a senior commander of militant Islamist group al-Shabab, state radio reports.

The US issued a reward of $5m (£3,8m) in 2008 for information on the whereabouts of Bashir Mohamed Qorgab.

The US carries out frequent air strikes in Somalia to target militants. It has not yet commented on the report. Qorgab's family confirmed his death.

He was in charge of attacks on military bases, and was also involved in operations in Kenya, the report said.
Qorgab was killed on 22 February in the southern Somali town of Sakow, following a joint operation by the Somali army and US military, Somali state radio reported.

It did not explain why the news had emerged only now.

Last month there were unconfirmed reports in Somali media outlets that Qorgab had broken away from Al-Shabab following disagreements with other leaders.

Al-Shabab is linked to al-Qaeda and controls much of southern and central Somalia.

It has also carried out a wave of bombings in neighbouring Kenya, and is regarded as the most dangerous militant group in the region.

Last month, the group's fighters attacked a base in Kenya used by Kenyan and US forces, killing three Americans - a US military service member and two contractors.

Italy has placed up to 16 million people under quarantine as it battles to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Anyone living in Lombardy and 14 other central and northern provinces will need special permission to travel. Milan and Venice are both affected.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also announced the closure of schools, gyms, museums, nightclubs and other venues across the whole country.

The measures, the most radical taken outside China, will last until 3 April.

Italy has seen the largest number of coronavirus cases in Europe and reported a steep rise in infections on Saturday. The strict new quarantine measures affect a quarter of the Italian population and centre on the northern part of the country that powers its economy.

The death toll in Italy has passed 230, with officials reporting more than 36 deaths in 24 hours. The number of confirmed cases jumped by more than 1,200 to 5,883 on Saturday.

"We want to guarantee the health of our citizens. We understand that these measures will impose sacrifices, sometimes small and sometimes very big," Mr Conte said early on Sunday.
Under the new measures, people are not supposed to be able to enter or leave the whole northern region of Lombardy, home to 10 million people, except for emergency access. Milan is the main city in the region.

The same restrictions apply to 14 provinces: Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Alessandria, Asti, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola, Vercelli, Padua, Treviso and Venice.

"There will be no movement in or out of these areas, or within them, unless for proven, work-related reasons emergencies or health reasons," Mr Conte told reporters.

"We are facing an emergency, a national emergency. We have to limit the spread of the virus and prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed."

However transport in and out of the regions affected continues. At least seven flights from other European cities arrived at Milan's Malpensa airport on Sunday morning according to flight tracking websites.
