Hello Nairalanders!
Let me tell you a new trick fraudsters use to defraud people at the ATM.

You might have seen them trying to withdraw at the ATM. They come to you and call you to a side, tell you that they are stranded, and wasn't able to withdraw from the ATM due to lack of fund or having difficulties with his/her account etc and probably going home (which might be another state).

He/she would beg you to withdraw certain amount of money for him/her or give him/her some amount of money which will be enough to take him/her home (maybe 3k, 5k) and that when he/she gets home he/she would ask his/her spouse, friend, son, daughter etc to transfer the money back to you.

They would ask for your account number, tell you their name, show you some pictures of their wife/husband, daughter, son and even give you their phone number and ask you to call so as to confirm that they are not telling lies and you can trust them.

If you should give them the money and call the number afterwards, trust me it won't go through again.

Please Note: They will probably be older than you (or even tell you they have a son or daughter of your age bracket), well dressed and even speak good English.

If someone tells you at the ATM that he/she is stranded, please ignore for your own good

All I am trying to say is that he shouldn't think the 10k is too small rather he should appreciate his parents as there are other students surviving less than that.

There is this guy I once went for him to tutor me in one particular course, in that process I discovered that he has not eaten, so I gave him some money to buy food, another day he came to my house complaining he was hungry, I gave him my food to eat.

There was one weekend, he told me that he did not have money and he was expecting money the next week, throughout that weekend he ate in my side promising that when his parent sent money, he will repay but when the money came he used it to buy watch and some other irrelevant things. He didn't repay which affected me badly because of the money my struggling parent use to sent to me which is always small #10000 every three weeks.

Ever since then anytime he sees me in school and when he comes to my house he will ask if I have cook? Which I don't know how to tell him no.

Your parents send #10000 every 3weeks and that is small? what should someone like me who gets #5000 every month and would have to spend almost #400 to get to school everyday say?

Back to your question, you just have to tell him politely if you don't want him to feel somehow.
