IELTS - General
PTE - Academic

You have a choice to take any of the two. If you are an Engineer and want to assess your credentials with Engineers Australia, you will have to take IELTS coz they don't accept PTE.
Engineering Australia now accept pte

489 is a provisional (temporary) visa that restricts you to live for 4 years in the regional (rural) areas of the state that sponsors you. The visa fee is the same as that of 189/190. I'll advise you prepare and try PTE again before opting for 489. Trust me, you'll get your desired scores at the next attempt.

No point rushing it. You will always get to regret it when you are here so why don't you give it a try again now you have the opportunity
before opting for 489.

Helpful advice from the house please, Visa lodged at Pretoria on 03 June 2015 under SVP, asked additional document on 12 June 2015 and i replied on the 15 June. I forwarded a query to them and CO replied saying "application is still under assessment". Till now still waiting and my school starts on the 15 of July next week. Pls what do i do friends? Do i still write my CO again or call?

Bro please I'll appreciate if you post your action and the response you got cos I'm about applying and I'm also a batch c Corp member passing out October. I pray they don't ask for my discharge though..also did you include nysc in your cv or made any reference to it?? Will be glad to learn from you..

I didn't include nysc in my CV, I was surprise to get that from them. it's well. I trust God for a positive response. I hope to get back...

I have several homeboys who ditched NYSC and went abroad to study as soon as we finished from Uni. Some have returned to Naija to serve whereas some do not still care about it cos employers don't care about it in their respective countries. Yes, it's possible to defer service for two years and more. One may even leave halfway - that person will be recorded as an absconded Corper, the discouraging part is that s/he would have to return to their institution for re-mobilisation and start afresh. No, you do not have to know any commandant before absconding..

Yes, people work in Naija without NYSC certificates or exemption letters. I know it's a requirement for most Govt, banks, multinationals job positions, however some private firms care less about it. I have real-life examples.

youngpboy - I hope this post helps you with your decision making. I would be surprised if you decide to defer your application at this stage.

Thank you very much for the insight.

Immigration officers know it is illegal for any company to employ you without you completing NYSC. They prolly added things up and suspected your reference letter might even be fake.

If evidence of you having a good job here in Naija is what guarantees you will come back, they have to scrutinise it well.

Okay I really understand your point. I want to be honest with them. First do I
tell them I want to defer to enable me complete my NYSC
or tell them that am still in service and I will be complete it
soon and let den decide? pls response

Be honest in your response to the Case Officer, no hard and fast rules to that.

So how you bin wan go school without completing your NYSC? you wanted to sort the state co-ordinator them?
Send your call off letter and tell them when you will be finishing.
But we all know the answer you will receive from them na.
Best advice deferr now to Sep batch.

Thanks for the advice but do I tell them that I intend to do my service after my advance diploma in australia that I will return to my country. explain to them that I defer d NYSC to two years time. At least it may be an added advantage that I will return back to nigeria after my studies.
Response pls

The guy never talk him true story

Let me explain better. I never put it through to them that I have served. I only had my B.Eng result last year june. I didn't include anything as regards to service. I stated in my CV that I av been working since I graduated. in an IT company. I even included a reference letter from the IT company and is actually my cousins company. Sincerely speaking I am currently serving in delta state. So I never stated anything as regards to my service because I new I would still be in service den. That is the may dikoko.
Pls I need advice
