I use Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Global Stable rom. I don't know for mtk version but I know you will get getting OTA update only of you didn't root the phone.

I think they're saving the snapdragon chipset for redmi note 4... Coz note 4 will surely fall on 4gb of ram, therefore the only difference will be the snapdragon chipset
