Lionel Messi is too good for the Premier League What we learned: Lionel Messi would waste his talent in England and four other talking points from Barcelona's 1-0 win over Manchester City http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city/11479783/Barcelona-vs-Manchester-City-Five-things-we-learned.html |
Gary Lineker tweeted: 'Messi is indisputably the greatest player ever to don a pair of football boots. Don't even attempt to argue the point.' Liverpool defender Jose Enrique tweeted: 'If Messi played against City on his own, he would still win the game. [He] is amazing. Best in the world when he wants.' Adrian 'Jackpot' Lewis: 'Messi could nutmeg a mermaid.' Twitter reacts to Barcelona maestro's masterclass. Juliaann:.......and you got it |
Great game by the players. Messi had a fantastic game; was involved in all four goals scored in the game. |
My people say: "A dog that wants to imitate the lion would end up getting itself killed in the jungle." So, Ronaldo should take it easy because Messi is the king of footballing jungle. |
chusks:Had Ronaldo played in the Champions League, he would have long smashed Raul's record. His champions league goal ratio would have been double that of Messi.............................you dey hear yourself? |
dmcdad:Thanks, bro. God bless you too. Meanwhile: Wow! This is cool! Thanks bro. I really do appreciate. I am humbled by this benevolent gesture of yours. Nice cakeYou're welcome! I hope you enjoyed the barca cake? Please keep the rest in the fridge. ![]() |

The boys did brilliantly today. Messi's vision in picking out Neymar for the 2nd goal was gorgeous and eagle's-eye-sque; what an assist that was! ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmGxQB14ySs |

This got me ecstatic! Please don't tell me it's mere football stats? ![]() "In the previous two seasons in which Messi scored Barcelona's first Liga goal, Barcelona won both Liga and CL" #fcblive #ucl [via mrchip] Na our year of Liga and UCL again! Hahaha!! |
The world's greatest player is at it again! The 2014 World Cup Silver Medalist, and Best Player of the tournament, is doing what he does best. What a run that was! Magisterial! ![]() https://s3.amazonaws.com/br-cdn/temp_images/2014/07/25/e9ec77e7fd416ecb9d6cfa43a6aa1072.gif?1406320906 |
nitlad: LOL @ Cule wänkers quoting Mourinho. . .Lol. You're funny! Mou's back-to-back 'trohylessness' has humbled him. Now, he seems to see and speak more rationally. ![]() |
Mourinho: "All my respect to Messi because he played for his team and this can't be said of all players at this World Cup." #arg [yahoo] Mourinho: "If Messi wanted to be the phenomenon we all know he is, he'd just have played up front, close to Higuain, waiting for a chance." Mourinho: "Messi was trying to create something out of nothing for his team. His assist to Di Maria was for example brilliant." [yahoo] Mourinho: "Messi played in zones that are not his. He had to play so low that he had to cross 2-3 lines. Always had 2-3 players on him." Mourinho: "Messi sacrified himself for the team. He wanted to win, he didn't wanted to be topscorer or mvp, he wanted to make history." |
I have this thought, that Guardiola is partly responsible for the recent victories achieved by both German and Spanish National teams. Spain dominated world football with Barcelona's players, when Guardiola was the coach. Now, Germany is beginning to dominate world football by playing same possession-based football, using Bayern Munich's players, with Guardiola as coach. Meanwhile, my tears have refused to dry-up since last night. I cried like a little baby, because of my Leo Messi. He was so close to achieving that, which his heart has always yearned for. I don't know what happened along the way? Higuain and Sabella failed him when he needed them the most. I pray this doesn't kill his love for the beautiful game! |
The Dutch were conservative last night because of Messi. He (Messi) is so great that coaches change their tactics when playing against Argentina and Barcelona; just because of one player. The Germans won't dare to unleash their full attacking play on Argentina because of Messi. If they try to do so, Messi would end up feasting on their 'weak' defense. With Di Maria most likely going to be fit for the final; Aguero already back from injury; and the Argentine defense getting its right rhythm in time, the Germans will have to work hard to stop an attack made of Messi, Di Maria, Aguero and Higuain. That the final is holding in the Maracana is another advantage for Argentina. It means: these players would be ready to give their all, not only because of Argentina, but also, to ridicule Brazil (their bitter rivals) and make Brazilians cry in their own national stadium. Come Sunday, we are going to see a great final! Good luck Messi and Argentina! |
ddippset: Lol. All through from day one, people be like this argentine team is not good, it's average, it's poor, messi is carrying them, belgium will knock them out, holland will beat them. Now they are in the final, they are now a good team, they wouldn't accept messi has carried an underperforming argentina to the final. He almost singlehandedly won 4 out of the 6 games. At this stage in the final win or lose nobody should say he cannot perform for his national team, nobody would dare play that iniesta and xavi card on him anymore. But if he wins this world cup he becomes the greatest of all time.Yes o! Additionally; win or lose, playing in the final alone has handed him the 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or already! Wow, five Ballons! |
claireshan: Lol @yourangelWhy you dey laugh? You no dey sleep? Lol ![]() |
homesteady: Mascherano! he was so awesome today! I hope Enrique is taking note! Not just today alone; he's been Argentina's best player in this tournament (arguably). He does all the dirty work; he's a great fighter. Personally, I believe Mascherano has been Barcelona's best player in this world cup: yes, better than Neymar and Messi, even though these two are the sung heroes of their respective national teams. I really do hope Enrique is taking note. We want to see Mascherano in his natural position next season. Meanwhile, Messi is one game away from officially becoming the greatest of all time (GOAT). I hope the beast in him awakes at the Maracana on Sunday! Playing in the final alone, means a 5th Ballon d'Or is already in the kitty for Messi. Viva Messi! Viva La Albiceleste! Note: It's very hard being a Ronaldo fan this time around! . They are having sleepless nights because Messi is about to win the world cup. How priceless that feels! |
“He scored a goal in his style ... a style that allows him to go from 0 to 100 km/h in one second, from right to left and with supersonic speed which allows him to evade his rivals and teammates so that he can finish off the play with a shot full of class and fury worthy of a goal of the look of an assassin.” Olé |
Luis Garcia (coach Getafe): "Messi? No need to say anything. Messi is Messi, and that's that." |
Leo Messi's back! Bring us Man City now!! |
