Killing any human is bad let the media report the way it is |
Christian Association of Nigeria The Northern Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said that the eight people killed over alleged blasphemy at Talata Mafara area of Zamfara State were not Christians. The Public Relations Officer of the Northern CAN, Reverend John Hayab, while briefing newsmen after the association’s emergency meeting, which held in Jos, said CAN frowns at the killing of any Nigerian under the guise of religion or whatever in the country. He said “We met over the killings going on in Northern Nigeria. We clearly understood that those killed in Zamfara were not Christians. So, the erroneous story going on in the social media and in many other media claiming that those roasted were Christians should be corrected. “As an organization, we frown at the killing of human beings in whatsoever guise. Human beings are human beings and if they are criminals, there are police. We should report them to the police to arrest them and not to set them ablaze. Our concern is that our nation is becoming barbaric. “There is no justification whatsoever for the shedding of blood of any citizen.” http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/victims-of-zamfara-killing-not-christians-can/160542.html?platform=hootsuite |

Kogi West Elders Committee, a powerful
socio-political leadership forum representing
the interest of the Kogi West people of the
state, has called on the Deputy Governor-
Elect, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to accept
the outcome of the Kogi governorship
election as God’s way of answering the
prayers of the Kogi West people for power
rotation.
Rising from an extra-ordinary meeting at
Obajana, the industrial headquarters of Kogi
West, the committee said it was prepared to
prevail on Faleke to work harmoniously with
the Governor-Elect, Alh. Yahaya Bello to
effect the desired change in Kogi State.
The Committee called on political
stakeholders from both Central and West to
accept and abide by the decision of the APC
leadership which favours the age long
agitation for power rotation in the state.
It said it would be a betrayal of the interest
of the Kogi West and Kogi Central people if
the present opportunity is lost to infighting
among the oppressed.
A communique signed by Chief Richard
Asaje, Migbole Samuel and Mohammed
Musa read in part: “That we accept the
divine intervention of God for granting us
the desired power shift or power rotation.
“That the West and Central senatorial
districts have agreed to stand on the path
of unity and hold on the two positions of
governor and deputy governor bestowed on
us by God.
“That we declare our solemn and total
support for the governor-elect, Alhaji
Yahaya Bello, and ensure his success;
otherwise his failure is ours and not his.”
The high powered meeting was attended by
Chief Richard Asaje, Commodore Folusho
Daniel (rtd), Asiwaju Idris Asiru, Mr.
Mohammed Musa and other political leaders
from Kogi West.
Kogi West is made up of Lokoja, Kogi/Koto,
Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Mopamuro, Yagba East

As a way of getting back into the Senate,
immediate past president of the red
chambers, David Mark has begun an
aggressive campaign in his home state,
Benue.
The former Senate president was sacked by
a Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi after
his election was rendered invalid and
ordered a rerun in 90 days.

distributed in Makurdi, the Benue state
capital recently

And in order to ensure that he gets back
into reckoning, foodstuffs branded in
Mark’s name were being distributed by
across the state by his supporters.
The pictures showed that the sticker on the
items were those used for the campaign
during the last election for which Mark has
been adjudged a loser.
And it was also revealed that while some
people received the items distributed in
Otukpo area of the state, several others
rejected it.
Some of the people who spoke with The
Nation were of the opinion that the items
were not distributed before the 2015
senatorial election but are now being
distributed in a desperate act to give back
to the people of Benue rice meant for six
month back.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have since mocked
the former Senate president after the
annulment of the election, stating that he
had been on a low key because he believes
the government may have forgotten the
case. |
