I once wanted to just get certifications after a simple 4 year course in Microbiology or Biochemistry. But I figured since I cant really learn Medicine outside a campus but I can learn programming any place else, I decided to go in for Medicine and study Programming at the side

Why I ask this is because I want to create some good apps to help in Medicine and health niches but I cant because I do not really know how to do it...before I got admission, I already had some knowledge on Java up to the web development component part of Java but I am scared Medicine wont give me the time to expand and learn more...

I spoke to some medical students and they were like, except if I am ready to use the very little time they use to rest to practice my coding...otherwise, I wont really have time for coding...

I just want to continue what I already started

I need the replies to be without bias...let me know if I should just give up on programming and probably come back to it when I am done

Can a student of Medicine learn programming at the side

I love the idea behind programming but I am got admitted to study Medicine as a course. I only wish to know if I can combine Medicine study and practicing coding at same time?? Can I be an intermediate programmer in my 6(six)years of studying medicine?? I intend studying and practicing coding everyday for 5-6yrs but giving greater attention to my medical course as that was what I got admission for...I just want to know if it is possible. If 6 yrs is too small or too much...I have dreams of creating some good apps that will be used in the medical and health niche and I cant accomplish it without knowing programming...

What is this? Nigerian Uni that teaches best computer studies? When my days in university, my lecturer only knew FORTRAN and COBOL and the likes. If you ask him back then about Java, he becomes a sitting duck, that even present day, he makes noise about basics of visual basic. Net

I'm going to say,if you Wonna learn to program, even Aptech and NIIT are even living on past glory, I did my Oracle Certified Java Professional (OCJP) at Aptech. if you not considering moving to Russia or India, where you can get IT training at the same price as Nigeria, please forget it. It's gonna be super "unwise" to waste your money on crap they teach there.

abeg, this association thing is unnecessary for now. if you develop great apps, couple bad-ass systems, meet up with dead lines without letting to clients, you will definitely get recognized

oya, Akinsete, what have u produced?? whose lives have u touched?? 90% of programmers in Nigeria feed by teaching...they have no freaking idea how to create a single working app...so, if anyone wants to learn, Google is your friend...I have suffered from all these so called teachers... sometimes I even end up teaching them in turn...just go to Google, and yahoo search sef...a whole lot of resources for u to learn
