It is a sister software called soficad that produces structural drawings (reinforcement). One of the best I've ever seen. Just incase you're into softwares hacking lol; pls help if you can download soficad. I would pay.

Sure. ETABS is actually meant for buildings majorly. ETABS> *Extended Three-dimensional Analysis of Building Systems*

I've come to like STAADS too, thanks to you and other people I've learnt from cheesy.

Most times the software you started with has a way of sticking to you. I came across staadpro at my 400L in campus sometime in 2008 or so. Even though I've seen other software with better capabilities, I find it reluctant to learn. Has anyone here tried sofistik ?

That statement refers to the completion of the GT component. This is just pure GRAMMAR.

Kindly refer to the first paragraph of the GMD's statement when the GT got their notifications on Feb 14.

He also stated that the EH component will be addressed in due course.

EH, keep your fingers crossed.

Lol, they have now addressed the EH component. And the conclusion seems to be a cancellation. It is sad though, but I expected little from them

Other oil producing countries such as Saudi Arabia still operate NOC similar to NNPC , remove NNPC today then our power sector will crumble. NNPC remains the major sustainer of our generating station.
I pray the scheduled rehabilitation in the refineries work as planned. The current GMD hasn't come to play ,he has been fair in his duties concerning this recruitment.

I think @allthingsgood has responded to you. NNPC can still remain NOC but with limited political control from government

How do you mean?

They encourage the redundancy of workers in that place. If government tries to privatize the refineries, they protest against it claiming government should do turnaround maintenance. We all know that government businesses in Nigeria are bad. See the power sector for example. Are the workers not better off now? I heard AEDC for example pays marketers up to 300k. I doubt they had it that good when it was under government control. Even the NNPC would be better off if government reduce control over it. See NLNG for example and how efficient it has been. NUPENG is not fighting a just course as far as I am concerned.

Most of you are only 50% correct. The price of oil is currently being hammered from 2 fronts: the corona virus and the price war between the Saudis and the Russians. The Corona virus is under-cutting oil price from the demand side, while the price war is undercutting oil price from the supply side. To explain further, the corona virus has caused the world economy to be grounded which has impacted oil demand negatively, and caused an over-supply of the commodity. Furthermore, the intentional ramping up of oil production by the Saudis and Russians has and will cause a further over-supply of the market, which will also depress prices. If you get rid of only one of these 2 causes weighing on oil demand, prices will still be way lower than where it was before all these started.

However you dissect it, Nigeria is in for a bleak future. The glory days of high oil price is over. Oil will almost certainly never be sold at $100+ a barrel ever again. The leaders of the country have failed it, with the tacit help of docile citizens.

Congratulations, you are 100% correct grin

This will be my very first comment here and just to correct this misconception. Corona virus is the sole reason why the world's economy is in nosedive right now. China is the world's largest energy consumer and when the corona virus came(which incidentally began with them) their economy slowed down with lots of firms shutting down because of quarantine. This brought about a reduced demand for energy/crude oil. Now steps in OPEC, which by virtue of their existence as a cartel and their informal agreement with Russia, toggles production volume in relation to energy demand in order to maintain high crude price. But at this point, Russia refused to play with OPEC in reducing production output in order to maintain high prices hence the reason why the prices are dropping drastically. Saudi Arabia being who they are and having one of the lowest production costs per barrel in the world, are ready to keep flooding the market and crashing the prices further until they bring Russia to their knees and they come back to the table to agree(knowing fully well that Russia is also facing USA's economic sanctions already and may not be able to hold on for too long). However, with China claiming no new cases of Covid-19, firms previously shut down will commence operations, demand will gradually start building back up and as soon as other countries get out of the Corona induced lockdown, prices will eventually build back up as global demand will increase again.

You are not quite correct. Granted that the world's economic activities slowed down due to Convid-19, but it wouldn't have affected crude oil prices that much if the OPEC+1 production agreements were still in place. The worse that would have happened was that the OPEC member countries would have cut supplies to maintain a reasonable price. The current price drop is as a result of the Russia and Saudis disagreement. And truly, I think Putin is right in fighting this fight. Saudi Arabia is only fighting for the US.

My guy, I am not fighting with you. I am simply telling you what I know.
Some company call them back up staffs, support staff, contact Staff, third party but the real name by law is casual staff. Go and check, labour law stipulates that after six months of taking in your casual staff, you Must convert them to full staffs. But the oil companies had not followed this trend, instead some cabal use it to enrich themselves. That's the geneses of the contract staff's problem. Nobi everything hunter see for bush he dey talk. The scrabbling of casualization had passed second reading on the floor of House of Rep, as we speak. If it was never a law, why scrabbling? Go and check too, all new intake even B4 2012, are trained on-the-job by these contact Staffs. You train someone you will call Oga tomorrow. Let's be human, these guys need help too. Like I said previously, contract staffs are not our (EH's) problem.
Live and let's live.

Pls, I beg to differ! There is no such law that recognizes casualization of workers. What the house is working on is to make it illegal so that companies can stop it. As it is now, there is really no law criminalizing it. I wonder why anyone would claim to be so experienced on the job but would still allow himself to play second fiddle for years on the same job. Have you not read on this thread how many of the GTs leave the NNPC for better offers. Sometimes we make mistakes early in our career lives. I can't imagine myself as at the time I graduated and knowing fully well I have the grade to compete with others in general recruitment; I would na relax with a casual job offer because I have one big connect at the time that sneaked me into the system.

Please, don't get me wrong, I'm not against the conversion of contract staff, but let's stop making it sound like they too experienced or qualified. Or rather, let this practise not continue. NNPC knows is trying not to set a precedent for future disaster.

Sorry bro, but could you tell me the aspect of this comment that is distasteful? For crying out loud, contract staff is not a practice that is encouraged by any aspect of our laws. This has been an issue the trade unions in the oil and gas industry have always fought against. It is called casualization of Nigerian staff in many of the IOCs. What is distasteful in pointing this out? Can't you see how this contract staff practice has spoiled banking jobs in Nigeria? Banking jobs used to be very attractive as at when the banks were springing up; until they introduce contract staff practice. Please, show me the part of my comment that is distasteful.

My guy wait.
You are calling COREN. Most contract staffs are well qualified. The only different is, their appointment is not regularised. Most even have above 15yrs experience. The last time convertion took place their yrs of experience were used to appropriate them in the rankings. But the advantage to them is, the convertion process is not as rigorous as what we went through.
EH our problem, is not contact Staffs, but the main staffs themselves. They don't want EH to just come and head them (if you know you Know).
EH plus contact Staffs, vacancies will still be in NNPC. So direct your prayers well.

And you people should stop mentioning years of experience as a criteria to argue for the capabilities of the contract staff. Some people are just in some organizations counting years without any meaning input or rather developing career wise. I've seen too many

Guy, even your Constitution gives room for contact Staffing. If you like call it back door or what ever name.
If you check, the debate is on at the floor of the house of Rep, the contract staffing provided by law is not well follow by the companies, hence the motion for the scrabbling.

Please, cite the aspect of the law that provided for contract staff. You guys would be supporting rubbish because it perhaps benefits you. May be it is because we are sugar-coating it by calling it "contract staff", that's why you are sounding somewhat comfortable with it. Contract staff is basically casual staff and our laws frown at it. The labour unions have been fighting against this for long. You can employ people to be doing regular jobs and tag them contract staff. But people still keep getting into the system when their relatives or friends are occupying critical positions. And they accept the contract staff thing with the hope that one day they would force the management to regularize them. Nobody promised them they would be regularized.

It's obvious you don't know much about these guys, contact Staffs.
As we speak, without these contact Staffs, no SBU can run successfully, NNPC is short of staffs. They are the board men, shift operators, panel men, area operators etc if you know what these mean.
You see why the GMD is giving them a thought?
Just so you know, most people on cheif officers course now, came into the system as contact Staffs.
So, contact staffing is not new to NNPC and the oil industry.

Nobody is arguing whether or not contract staff are important. Infact, let us even agree that contract staff are more important in NNPC; they are the ones doing all the work. The question you are failing to answer is how did they get in? Did they go through any former recruitment process? No!

Don't forget a different management started this recruitment, and if not for the change we would have long forgotten about it...this new GMD was able to be convinced to try the route of considering some contract staffs after much agitation, plus the disgruntled staffs that feel they ought to enjoy benefits of passing through the system and attaining high position rather than let some persons come from outside and boss them..to some of them the E.H has been cancelled as most of them have told me severally, but I know it's still on, but seriously under contention..

I really don't know but from what I can tell, the contract staff that mainly being affected are those in NNPC retail, my guess. When they started that SBU, alot of them were recruited silently. I know some. BTW, these contract staff that you are somewhat seeing as victims are actually doing well financially. Their pay is good as well.

Whether it is back door or front door, all door nah door so long as it leads them into the system. They have the experience already and if they also have the required qualifications, it is only fair that they are converted. I believe this will not diminish the chances of EH candidates.

Be there deluding yourself that it would not diminish the chances of EH. Have you asked yourself why the issue of their conversion is just coming now that the NNPC is doing a regular recruitment? Why didn't they convert them silently in-house? Whether you like it or not, the EH chances would be reduced with this whole contract staff conversion issue.

They didn't come in through the back door, that's why they are called Contract Staffs.
Believe it or not, they are well qualified, the reason they couldn't apply at the time of application is simply because of their age that is above the required. Check, these people are useful to NNPC.

I believe there's enough space for both contact staff and EH.

Have you ever heard NNPC conducting interviews to employ contract staff? Seems you are a contract staff yourself. I never said they didn't have qualification but they got into the system through the back door. Meaning they didn't follow the NNPC recruitment system

Not really. They have the same qualifications that we have, just that they do occupy positions that allow the cooperation to move. They are a key part of the business. However the right thing that most companies do, is for them to do the normal recruitment procedures like ithers and be given preference to fill in qualified positions. The good side of this, is that less money is spent on training them, but the downside of this, is that they hardly bring in innovations. That's the reasons why new guys are brought in to bring in fresh blood and ideas and change the way things are done

Why did you strike-through that sentence? Didn't the contract staff get in through the back door? Did they even apply for the job let alone going through an interview process. If they have same qualifications, they would have applied like any other person to regularize their position.

Hey guys, spoke to a Mgt staff concerning EH and conversion of backup staff. He said the issue of conversion of backup up staff is being considered but many of them do not have the necessary qualifications to be placed within SS1-SS6 roles as specified in certain requirements for meeting these roles in Nnpc's conditions of service and also it will be unfair for full staff whom have worked for a long time to get usurped in hierarchy.
The plan is to fix few of them on JS role with a caveat (Could be assessment or getting a better qualification within a time period)

The next items has a timeline of 31/03/2020 with the GGM, HR responsible for its execution. One of the action item is to "Implement Competency Based Deployment".

Remember the comments concerning "Internal realignment first before considering the EH list" made by Aremolomi and Loaded89.

Thanks for the update, but this is a show of how poorly the NNPC is managed. So, what they meant in essence is that they didn't even do due diligence to know the number of vacancies to be filled before setting out for recruitment. I mean, the last major recruitment by NNPC was in 2012 which is 8yrs ago. Why would they conduct recruitment process and after getting to the final stage, they are now doing realignment or whatever. Mctwee.

For me, I just know it is all politics that is going on. And this is why I had said earlier that anyone that gets this kind of job under these prevailing circumstances and procedure should count all luck and God's grace. This is hardly merit based . Smh

One of the criteria given for EH in the advert is that the candidate must of worked in a large and multinational company. They really want to infuse some new energy in the system. Anybody talking about conversation of contract staff and the rest is most likely not correct. And especially for the technical roles, they need EH. My opinion though
