Hello, I am about to submitt EOI for 189, IELTS (LSRW: 8.5,6.5,7.5,6.5) is this okay? and what is the current points for 189?

I guess you are okay if you have completed your skill assessment. Also note that your points depends on other factors like your age, years of work experience in and outside Australia, marital status. However, just know that you would not score any point from language based on your IELTS score. You should prepare to write again to have 7 minimum across.

Did you received nomination from any state for 190 or 491? and also your point is too low for 189 Civil Engineering.
PS: No 190/491 without state or regional nomination.

Don't I have to complete the EOI before nomination? Or how else do they nominate?

Greetings to the house. Just a little update on my journey so far:

I just submitted EOI for 189, 190 & 491 subclasses.

Points:
189 - 65pts
190 - 70pts
491 - 80pts.

Nominated occupation - Civil Engineer.

Though I currently have no points for English because I scored 6.5 in speaking which I intend to write again.

I hope I have a chance....

Peace!

Internal Open Resourcing (IOR) is when a company looks within its pool of staff to fill a vacancy within itself instead of advdrtising the position for outsiders to apply. Basically, they are still doing the internal realignment and are considering their people first to fill available vacancies before considering us

NNPC no just get head. It's such a shame!

upstand beam would give you the same rebar with downstand beam that's what I meant by similar
@bolded yes same for me

I was really excited about the physical modeler.

no I have not tried. But upstand beam is similar to down stand beam. So I presume you’d just offset it up a little.

(I am not sure if there’s option for upstand beam on staad rcdc)

Upstand beam is not exactly the same. However, have you used the physical modeler in staad connect edition for modelling? I just recently installed the connect edition and each time I try to start the physical modeler, it crashes. Please, let me know if you have similar experience

Have you tried modelling and designing upstand beams in staadpro? Please, check. Thanks

I also just confirmed that the promotions is yet to be finalized. I can confirm two persons working under the same roof with me who passed the exams and have been elevated to management level. They would be having their sendfort party from here by Friday.

Did they state reasons for the denial? You might have to visit their office and make them understand that this is important to you.

I have submitted up to 5 times. They keep giving me different reasons. The last one they said the documents were not legible even when it is the same document I submitted the last time where they stated I needed additional company profile. This country cannot just be corrupt in all areas, haba!

Is there anything without a Nigerian factor to it?

Like seriously! They make you apply online only to just keep getting reject messages. I even went to their office here in Abuja but they acted like I can only apply online.

Please, for those that have registered companies, how did you all apply for EFCC's SCUML? The thing is driving me crazy. They just keep rejecting my application for one flimsy reason or the other. Please, share tips! is there a "Nigerian" factor to it?

These are interesting questions.
They look like JAMB questions too!

You can either tile before installing doors or do it the other way round. But, most joinery works contractors would prefer you tile in other to be certain of the door levels and that when the tiler is working on the door areas when the doors are already installed, they do not make any dent on their job

in our case, how is the beam and column monolithically connected when the pillar is moving away from the beam?

This is poor construction or detailing. It is not supposed to be that the column would separate from the beam.

it don't...
it depicts a frame structure but its not a frame structure.
If it were a true frame the settlement would be uniform not just the culums moving.
A typical frame structure is the one errected without walls but purely the structural members... you ought to have seen that before

You are not correct please!! A beam/column and foundation connected monolithically is a frame structure regardless of the construction procedure. More so, a "frame" structure in your terms does not settle uniformly when isolated footings are used without foundation beams. There is always that risk of differential settlement when isolated footings are used. And that is why your pad sizes must be adequate to limit it. Thank you

tell your engineer to design a masonry structure for you. i presume you mean a 2 storey building cause a one storey is a bungalow

A storey building is not always a bungalow. It depends on whether you are describing based on UK or American standard.

If you can afford the best plumbing pipes and you’re buying your floor drains from reputable brands, there’s no need.

Otherwise, just do it. The extra cost is worthwhile.

WHAT GOD CANNOT DO, DOES NOT EXIST

NNPC is saying they have been subsidizing petrol with 120billion naira monthly.

Most of you people are clearly not bright upstairs and the truth is even if they had concluded it, most of you would not have had the intellectual capacity to scale through from what you are displaying on this thread. Let go of this desperation and move on brethren. WORKING AT NNPC IS NOT YOUR BIRTHRIGHT. MELE KYARI will continue to show una pepper if you don't MOVE ON

Welldone to all the able Engineers in the house!
Hakeem4, I hail you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all.

My laptops were stolen sometimes last year and I've been managing an old Dell laptop.

Now, I intend to buy myself a laptop and I'm trying to balance specifications and costs. Please what's the specification of the laptop you guys currently use or preferably what would you recommend for me as a design Engineer.

Thanks.

PS: I intend to buy something that will be useful for me at least 3-4years from now!
Screen size >=15.6inches
Budget: 300-400k.

I currently use a lenovo laptop - Thinkpad S500 or so. It is just basic though. For your budget, you should get a very good laptop.
