Funny enough, i saw a video of something like ds on youtube happening in SA, one white Dude that saw this woman screaming for help while one hoodlum was trying to rob her brought out his gun and shot at the criminal...luckily for him(the criminal) he wasn't hit but ran like mad and got injured while trying to escape and he got nothing for all his troubles..what i am saying in essence is...Relax the law on acquiring Legal arms, God know with a gun am 50 % safer in this country, if these Idiots know the random person they are trying to rob might have a gun, they would probably think twice before knocking on my window. |

I don't Know Phemmy but he must really be a good man going by what others here have said about him, but i still stand on my earleir point, however i believe Govt agencies and agents also have to share the blame for the high cost of cars in Nigeria, what customs charge for one to bring in cars is just to high, add these to the clearing agents and i tell u, u might be tempted to smuggle ur car in through cotonou i bought a 2008 highlander with the mileage just above 30,000 from the usa, trucked it to Port of New york, shipped it to lagos Ro Ro Port ( i did not load it into a container as i had recently had a bad experience with a previous car i loaded unto a container) and i tell you, all i've paid in naira at this point is 3.275 million, now is where the problems begin, from my agent to customs duties and levies even as the said vehicle is a bump on the side vender so it is technically salvaged, before the car could get into my hands gangan, i had paid 510,000 bring the total cost of the vehicle to almost 3.8 million, i had to do minor repairs too which cost about another 100k, Now if i wanted to sell such vehicle(thank God say na me get am), which i bought and landed in Lagos for 3.275 and 3.9 got it into a perfect condition, selling it a 4.5million would not be too greedy in my opinion but i see cars with over a 100 thousand mileage bn sold for more (and of cuz accident or salvaged, trust me a large percentage of vehicles sold as tokunboh are accident cars), but i know a dealer that just adds about 500k as profit, so no all car dealers are greedy, na 9ja's peculiarity cause am. Import charges must go down if vehicles in Nigeria must come down, I would love every Nigerian that wants a good car to be able to own one without paying through the nose

Maybe a little, because i bet u, it is still cheaper to buy ur car directly ship it in , and pay customs duty but ofcuz, the dealers are not Father Xmas, but i think what they add for the less expensive ones is okay but as u go hjgher i.e cars in the range of between 5 and 20 millions. what they add sometimes could be in the region of between 750, 000 to 3 and 5 m depending on how heavy ur car is, |

I am really tired educating people about stuffs in Lagos, actually i believe Fashola has mellowed down in his activities this second term, and he has also taken some questionable decisions(increase in LASU Fees et al) but u can't fault the guy and The ACN government that has made Lagos the destination for Private Investors from all over, This Mall was built by ACTIS and some other Private Investors, Very few Governments in the world would force a Private Investor to Invest in a Particular sector of the Economy as any Investment would surely bring about employment generation, Lagos State Government did not spend 16billion on Ikeja City Mall, it would sheer waste of funds, This is where THE Lagos State Government has done well, creating the enabling enviroment for both Local and Foreign Investors to come in and do Business, Eko oni Baje but Govenor Fashola should watch his Back, |
