It seems that after more than a century, someone eventually managed to come close to Nikola Tesla’s breakthrough in transferring wireless electric power. Japanese scientists for the first time succeeded in transmitting electricity wirelessly through the air. Researchers from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) managed to transfer1.8 kilowatts of power via microwaves to a specific receiver located at a distance of 170 feet (55 meters). You may think that it’s not such an impressive distance, and the delivered energy was only enough to power an electric kettle, but the experiment opens up new prospects for alternative energy research. In particular, similar technology could be utilized recollecting solar energy in space and delivering it to Earth. In fact, this is how the International Space Station is powered – it converts sunlight into electric current with the help of solar cells placed on its solar array wings. It is obvious that collecting solar power in space and transmitting it to Earth will require much more, but it’s a good start. For years now, JAXA researchers have been involved in the Space Solar Power Systems project (SSPS) which is aimed at building a solar power plant in space, which would collect sunlight, convert it into microwaves or laser beams and transport them to Earth. The plant would be located in our planet’s geostationary orbit, at an altitude of approximately 22,000 miles(36,000 kilometers), and would deliver energy to a receiving facility on the ground. However, this ambitious project could be implemented no sooner than in a few decades. Till then, a number of technical issues must be resolved.“There are many technological challenges to solve before SSPS can be implemented. When transmitting power by microwaves, a significant technological challenge is how to control the direction, and transmit it with pinpoint accuracy from a geostationary orbit to a receiving site on the ground,”said lead researcher Yasuyuki Fukumuro. Wireless electricity, laser beams, microwaves… Doesn’t it all remind you of Nikola Tesla’s experiments? This great scientist and inventor performed similar experiments back at the end of 19th century, and many of his accomplishments “supposedly”still remain a science-fiction dream. In 1899, he managed to wirelessly transmit energy to light 200 bulbs at a distance of nearly 26 miles (42 kilometers). Tesla was also believed to have tapped into what’s called“radiant energy” or“zero point energy”and envisioned a“World Wireless System”that would supply the whole planet with free limitless wireless electric energy, and began the construction in 1901, which, however, was suppressed and never completed due to the problems it caused with financier J.P Morgan with it not being able to be “metered”. And this was over 100 years ago. In any case, I strongly believe that the world community will soon realize that alternative sources of energy are the only way for humanity to survive. While definitely different than Tesla’s idea of FREE energy, if the SSPS is finally implemented, we would have a permanent supply of wireless electric power regardless of the time of the day and the weather conditions. One of the richest and most successful men on earth, Bill Gates is the perfect example to the saying“learners are earners”. Gates’s personal blog, Gates Notes, clearly exhibits his devotion to reading and learning. On reading, he quotes, “I really had a lot of dreams when I was a kid, and I think a great deal of that grew out of the fact that I had a chance to read a lot.”Here are ten Bill Gates Suggested Books that he thinks everyone must read. 1. ‘My Years with General Motors’ by Alfred Sloan Bill Gates told Fortune,“My Years with General Motors is probably the best book to read if you want to read only one book about business.”This New York Times bestseller was an immediate hit when it was first published. My Years with General Motors is about Sloan’s fifty years with the company. How he achieved remarkable success at his job and took over the company. How he made the company earn unprecedented profits. The book scores high with its insights on management and leadership. 2. ‘Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street’ by John Brooks Bill Gates remarked on the book,“Today, more than two decades after Warren lent it to me–and more than four decades after it was first published–Business Adventures remains the best business book I’ve ever read. John Brooks is still my favorite business writer.”The book stays so close to Gates that he came up with a short video about it. The video features interviews with Warren Buffet and other renowned business leaders. 3. ‘Better Angels of Our Nature’ by Steven Pinker During reddit’s AMA Bill Gates said that“Better Angels of Our Nature” is his “favorite book of the last decade”. He added that “it is long but profound look at the reduction in violence and discrimination over time”A Steven Pinker book, The Better Angels of Our Nature puts the case that violence in the world has declined, with backing arguments. 4. ‘Tap Dancing to Work: Warren Buffett on Practically Everything, 1966-2012′ by Carol Loomis Bill Gates wrote about the book,“I think anyone who reads it cover to cover will come away with two reactions: First, how Warren’s been incredibly consistent in applying his vision and investment principles over the duration of his career; and, secondly, that his analysis and understanding of business and markets remains unparalleled.”Tap Dancing To Work is an impressive collection of articles and essays about and by Warren Buffett, compiled by Fortune magazine journalist Carol Loomis. 5. ‘Where Good Ideas Come From’ by Steven Johnson Bill Gates wrote,“Especially for people in business or education, it’s a worthwhile book. It talks about the institutional structures that facilitate good ideas–how you get lots of people thinking about cutting edge problems, how you put people together in a space where different skill sets and influences can come together, how you make the right kinds of materials available but don’t force a conclusion.” 6. ‘Life is What You Make It’ by Peter Buffett Gates said,“Contrary to what many people might assume, Peter won’t inherit great wealth from his father. Instead, he was encouraged by his parents to find hisown path. The book is a chronicle of that journey–and the wisdom and perceptionshe has developed along the way.”Though born in an affluent family, Peter chose not to walk in the shadow of his famous second name. He found his own way of life and made a success at that. 7. ‘The Language Instinct: How the Mind Creates Language’ by Steven Pinker A 1994 book by Steven Pinker, The Language Instinct is a classic study on allpossible characters and dimensions of language. Written for a general audience, it talks about how language works, how we learn it, how our brain understands it, changes over time and evolution. The book received the William James Book Prize from the American Psychological Association and the Public Interest Awardfrom the Linguistics Society of America. 8. ‘Moonwalking with Einstein’ by Joshua Foer Bill Gates commented about the book,“Like most people, I’m fascinated by how the mind works, and memory is a big element of that. Part of the beauty of this book is that it makes clear how memory and understanding are not two different things. Building up the ability to reason and the ability to retain information go hand in hand.” 9. ‘Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses’ by Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa Gates commented about the book,“The dismal results presented in Academically Adrift are based on the Collegiate Learning Assessment, a standardized testin which students are asked to make a practical decision–such as, what kind of airplane a company should buy–and explain their choice based on a set of goals and facts about different options. I’m optimistic about the potential of innovation to help solve many of the problems with our post-secondary system. But we need more and better information.” 10. ‘The Ten Commandments for Business Failure’ by Donald R. Keough Donald Keough shares with the world the story of his sixty-year career. He discusses the failures he faced and some other infamous failures. His commandments for failure include: Quit Taking Risks; Be Inflexible; Assume Infallibility; Put All Your Faith in Experts; Send Mixed Messages; and Be Afraid of the Future. CURBED FROM |

11. Nothing is really that big of a deal People are just as consumed with themselves and in their own head just as you are. People forget about your embarrassments, failures, mistakes and short-comings. They’re busy worried about what you might think of theirs. Think about all the great men who have accomplished and made huge impacts on the earth and people around them. Think about how often you actually think about those people or even know their names. With this understanding you realize the truth, that no matter what happens, life goes on. In a 100 years from now, everyone living on this planet will be dead, and the Earth will be full of new people. Time passes and things go on. This is pretty liberating because it not only releases you from being attached to the end result, but it desensitizes you to all the ups and downs of life and helps keep you balanced. Not to mention we’re floating on a piece of rock in what seems to be infinite space in all directions. Don’t forget to just lookup in the sky and smile every once in a while at the grandiose, randomness of it all. SOURCED FROM |
10. When you think the world is hostile, your thoughts become diluted with fear and negativity. When you believe the world is good, your thoughts become empowered Simple observations shows us that the news, politics, religion, racism and money does a good job of causing the illusion of separation between people. The fact is when you think the world is out to get you, then all your thoughts come from a place of fear and insecurity. You’re constantly worrying about what move to make next and what others think about you. If you believe the world is good and that people are good, then your thoughts will come from a much better place. Confidence grows and you take take control of your life, thoughts and emotions. Just remember that the sponsoring emotions behind each thought is either love or fear. Think about it next time you become aware of your self-talk. |
8. You become the average of the people you spend the most time with, without fail. Birds of a feather flock together. The fastest way to change your life is by changing the people you are around. Hangout with people who don’t care about their future, it’ll just give you more of a reason to justify not working hard and thinking ahead. Hang out with people who are using drugs, alcohol or constant partying to escape? You’ll be one of them. Hanging out with people who are focused, dedicated and taking action? You’ll follow suit. This right here I think can be the biggest game changer in somebody's life. 9. Humans are mirrors. Having a creative outlet is important I think we all have something within us that we want to express. Whether your outlet is sculpting an amazing body through fitness and diet, or music, or art, building businesses, writing or dancing. There’s a great deal of fulfillment that comes by expressing yourself through something which you love to do. I’ve found that not having a creative outlet that is healthy and that you enjoy can lead to self-destructive behavior as well a waste of your precious time and money. |
6. We aren’t as different as we think we are, we all want the same things Social media tries to tell us otherwise, but that’s just the social game. Everyone puts their best face forward. We all personally know a good portion of our friends and know the lives they live or have lived aren’t always a reflection of their photos and status’. Images don’t always reflect the inner minds of people. Don’t buy into the illusion. Being genuine goes farther than anything. 7.When my nutrition and exercise is right, everything else is pretty good too Although I’m not consistent 100% of the time and might fall off for a few weeks. I always get back to exercise at least 4-5 times per week and a diet that feeds my body the nutrients it needs to perform. Choosing to eat healthy foods and making an effort to exercise is a person’s commitment and care for their body and their life. It comes back to being grateful and appreciative of your life and the body you’ve been blessed with. |
5. I’ve become aware that most people are the patchwork of their past and it prevents them from living the life they really want to live. We’re all shaped by our experiences. By the people we come into contact with, whether that be our family, friends, teachers etc. Certain parts of our identities become the result of how other people have framed us. Many people view themselves by the imagination of how they think others view them, which keeps them trapped and confined to other people’s perspectives. You can tell where a persons at by the conversation they carry. The things they talk about. The fact is that we aren’t quite as unique as we might think, but a mix of all the people we’ve come into contact with and have been influenced by |
4. Practicing is something you can never give up. The only way to get better at something you’re new at is by practice. I’ve observed that as people get older, they get stuck in their ways and aren’t always willing to try something new because they might not be good at it or they find it difficult. We forget how just practicing is the key to unlocking our potential in an endeavor. As I’ve practiced at different things in my life, I’ve gotten better at them and what once seemed difficult became routine and easy. The 10,000 hour rule might apply to mastery, but they say you can get a pretty good understanding on a subject with just 20 hours that are completely focused and distraction free. |
3. You value the friendships of a few good people and having a ton of acquaintances matters less Going deep rather than wide carries more weight when it comes to relationships. Of course networking and making an effort to meet new people is still something you enjoy, you just find that with a busier life and more important things than “where is the party at,” contacting all of your friends on a regular basis just isn’t required. You can go a month or two without talking to them and that’s okay. You also begin to see differences emerge between you and some friends as you change and develop. |
2. I've really become aware of how sustained action over time leads to dramatic results You can look back at the last 5 years of your life and pick out specific actions that you’ve taken and how you’ve ended up where you are. You can “connect the dots” and see how your life has been impacted by various things. The people you hung out with, the relationships you’ve had,the decisions you made and didn’t make, the people you’ve disconnected from, your work experience, etc.. Things don’t happen all at once and frankly, they done need to. I think if you’re in the right frame of mind and you love yourself, then the journey is an exciting ride. |
1. The more I learn about different subjects, the more I realize I don’t know and the more excited I get about learning. As a teenager, you think you know everything. You feel invincible, like the world owes you something and you just can’t wait to finally turn 18 or21 and become an adult. It isn’t until you approach your mid- twenties that you might say holy shit: *.What happened to the last 5 years *.I’m getting old *.The world doesn’t give a shit about my success or failure *.I have to accept full responsibility for all the good AND bad things that happen in my life *.If it’s to be, it’s up to me A sobering and yet somewhat enlightening realization. That the rest of my life will be determined by me and that its nobodies fault if I come short in any area of life. That’s the true feeling of responsibility.

On that fateful day, Amina was on her way to school when a motor cycle knocked her down! She was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately. That night in her dream, an old woman in white garment appeared to her and warned her sternly that: "As soon as you are discharged from the hospital, you must wash the blood stains from that cloth you wore that day you were involved in an accident otherwise something terrible may happen to YOU!" Amina thought it was just an ordinary dream not until she saw the same old woman in her dream again & again & again.... telling her to wash the blood stains from the cloth. This time, Amina was frightened and told her mother the dream. Her mother simply told her to do exactly as she was told. The moment Amina got home from the hospital, that very day she was discharged, She soaked the cloth and started washing. She washed and washed but there was still small stain of blood on the cloth because the blood stains had dried already. . ... .. . She got tired and rinsed the cloth like that. It was a white gown. That night in her dream, the same old woman appeared to her again and told her to wash the cloth very well that there was still blood stains on it which may cause something terrible to happen to her. When Amina woke up, she checked the time, it was 4:00am...every where was still dark. She was consumed with fear! . . ... .. ....,and because she was afraid of the old woman's caution, she got up, took the cloth and started washing. She scrubbed it so hard that it felt like it was going to tear. Amina was scrubbing the cloth so hard that tears almost started dropping from her eyes when all of a sudden, someone tapped her from behind. She turned and behold, the old woman in her dream had appeared to her in real life.... Out of fear, Amina got up to run but fell down. The old woman drew closer to Amina and said softly, ... .. ."Henceforth! Use ARIEL detergent to do your washings.
