@ Vliz: Burgundy was my preferred color of choice, but as Rocktation stated, it does appear kinda gloomy. I'm leaning towards pastels for Aso-ebi like (1) Lavender/Lilac with Mint Green (2) Aqua blue and pink (3) Orange and blue. ... I'll stay with champagne and orange for myself.

Posted some burgundy samples on page 1 and gave up on it because clearly, burgundy needs a popping color to compliment it. Thought I'd be excited about wedding planning, NO! ... stressful! sad

Best wishes future brides!

Thank You! Thought I am the only one put off by the 'poverty stricken African girl" in the article. Hope she got a good sum too ...

ogugua88: For anyone who wants thicker hair, I beg of you to throw away your flat iron, curling iron, blow dryer, etc lol. I can count on one hand how many times I've used direct heat on my hair this year. It was thick before but it's now reaching uncontrollability. Awesomeness.

I try to stay away from heat, but have seen youtube gurus recommend the 'Brazilian Blow-out'. Heard its great for long stretches because they use keratin and protein treatments with heat. ... Anyone tried it yet?

uzoo: If you are looking for a Hydrating Conditioner i am still standing by the Herbal Essence Hello hydration , The one beside the Joico in the picture is finished so i got the bigger Size, that conditioner makes my hair silky soft.

Thanks. I got Hello Hydration today. I won't be using the CON anymore as it tangles my hair even more. I'll try the Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor when i'm done with Aphogee. Neutrogena's triple leave-in works great.

Organics or Organic Root Stimulator? I highly recommend ORS, Profectiv or Venus relaxer for very coarse hair like mine. Forget at-home relaxer kits, use cup relaxers. How soon do you retouch after a wash? ... clean scalps burn more....I think!

CFCfan: No one at all. The IRS will still be open for business, as they are deemed as essential.

Aiight Attorney ... Why are Congressmen still drawing paychecks while all other public servants don't get paid? That's not nice. Since yesterday, IRS shut down returns, tax questions or customer service with tax collection automatically processed.

Health / Re: Bosom Cancer Awareness Month :: How To Do A Bosom-Self Exam by Yvete(f): 4:54pm On Oct 01, 2013
ecolime: Does early detection of a cancerous lump mean the woman won't undergo treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy? Someone should please explain to me.

The goal of self-exams is to detect breast cancer early, which can result in a greater chance of cure if a woman discovers a cancerous lump. As stated above, not all lumps are cancerous. Like most women, I freaked out the first time I did a self-check (won't go into details). It keeps us in the loop with any changes in our bodies. People do periodic check-up with the doctor not because they hope to hear that they may have a medical condition, but you know ... better safe than sorry.

Mammograms and ultrasounds are expensive.
Mammogram in Nigeria- N7,000 per session.
In the US, $220 per session.
Doing-it-yourself costs nothing. cool

Health / Bosom Cancer Awareness Month :: How To Do A Bosom-Self Exam by Yvete(f): 3:57am On Oct 01, 2013
Better safe than sorry. It only takes 15 minutes.

Adult women of all ages are encouraged to perform breast self-exams at least once a month; at the end of your monthly menstrual cycle when your breasts are not as tender. Breast cancer can occur at any age, though it is most common in women older than 50. Many breast problems are first discovered by women themselves, often by accident. Breast lumps can be noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant).

J.H Medical center states, “Forty percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular breast self-exam is very important.” While mammograms can help you to detect cancer before you can feel a lump, breast self-exams help you to be familiar with how your breasts look and feel so you can alert your healthcare professional if there are any changes.

How should a breast self-exam be performed?

1) In the Shower
Using the pads of your fingers, move around your entire breast in a circular pattern moving from the outside to the center, checking the entire breast and armpit area. Check both breasts each month feeling for any lump, thickening, or hardened knot. Notice any changes and get lumps evaluated by your healthcare provider.

2) In Front of a Mirror
Visually inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides. Next, raise your arms high overhead.

Look for any changes in the contour, any swelling, or dimpling of the skin, or changes in the nipples. Next, rest your palms on your hips and press firmly to flex your chest muscles. Left and right breasts will not exactly match—few women's breasts do, so look for any dimpling, puckering, or changes, particularly on one side.

3) Lying Down
When lying down, the breast tissue spreads out evenly along the chest wall. Place a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head. Using your left hand, move the pads of your fingers around your right breast gently in small circular motions covering the entire breast area and armpit.

Use light, medium, and firm pressure. Squeeze the nipple; check for discharge and lumps. Repeat these steps for your left breast.

If you find a lump, schedule an appointment with your doctor, but don't panic — 8 out of 10 lumps are not cancerous. Wear P!NK, SHOP P!NK ... #Pinktober
