cheruv: 2prexios: Gure is the name of my tribe, the name of my dialect and the name of of my hometown (3-in-1, lol) Gure is a tribe in Lere L.G.A of Kaduna state and has a very rich fulani heritage. Infact, the term 'Gure' is a pure fulani word, which means 'bukka' in hausa or 'hut' in english. @2prexio, 'a'pabi' simply means 'the people of the other valley' or 'the people of the other plain land' or 'the people of the other land below the hill'. I dont really know the origin of these references sha, Note however that my hometown(Gure) is situated on a vast valley-land that is surrounded by hills & high rocks. Maybe thats why my people refer to the yorubas as the 'people of the other valley' (not sure sha). 2 Likes |

Religion / Re: The Prophet Of Allah by Zags001: 2:24pm On Oct 06, 2014 |
Smh. You all have succeeded in altering the submission by arguing about totally different issues from that of the OP. The title of this thread is: The prophet of Allah. So why has the thread been turned into a David/Solomon thread pls? Lets try and get back to the main post pls because thats what most of us here came to read & comment about. Anyone who wants to argue further about something different should kindly open a different thread for that. Now this is the opening post thus;
Those words that are in bold are the extracted words pertaining to the history of Prophet Muhammad from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah (also spelled Mohammed or Muhammed) (ca. 570 Mecca - June 8, 632 Medina), is the foundation of the religion of Islam and is regarded as Muslims as a mesenger and prophet of God (Arabic: Allah), the last and the greatest law-bearer in a series of prophets. Muslims consider him the restorer of the uncorrupted original monotheistic faith (Islam) of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other prophets. He was also active as a diploma, merchant, philosopher, orator, legislator, reformer, military, general, and, according to Muslim belief, an agent of divine action. It is mentioned above that Prophet Muhammad is regarded to be the messenger and prophet of God, the last and the greatest law-bearer in a series of prophet. As he is the last law-bearer in a series of prophet, it is rational for moderate Muslims to accept that the Holy Quran to be the only source that is reliable for meditation and it is not justifiable for anyone to use the words from other muslims, especially the words from muslim extremists, in replacement of the words from Allah. Born in 570 CE in the Arabian city of Mecca, he was orphaned at a young age and brought up under the care of his uncle Abu Talib. He later worked mostly as a merchant, as well as shepherd, and was first married by age 25. Discontented with life in Mecca, he retreated to a cave in the surrounding mountains for meditation and reflection. According to Islamic beliefs it was here, at age 40, in the month of Ramadan, where he received his first revelation from God. According to Muslim tradition, Muhammad's wife Khadija was the first to believe he was a prophet. She was soon followed by Muhammad's ten-year-old cousin ali ibn Abi Talib, close fiend Abu Bakr, and adopted son Zaid. From the above statements, it is obvious that Prophet Muhammad actively involved in preaching the message of Allah and that caused his wife to be the first to become Muslim. After the conversion to Muslim by his wife, his friend, his close friend and adopted son, were lately to be converted to Muslims as well. At that time when Prophet Muhammad received the revelation from Allah, he did not slaughter his wife, friend and adopted son since they were not Muslims at all in the beginning. Prophet Muhammad was willing to spare his time to reach out to the pagans and that lead to the conversions to muslims one to be followed by another. For instance, if Prophet Muhammad was a selfish and cruel man, he would simply hide the message of Allah from his close firiend and his adopted son without showing mercy to reach out to them so as to patiently wait for their repentance to become muslims since they were not muslims initially at all. Three years after this event Muhammad started preaching these revelations publicly, proclaiming that 'God is One', that complete 'surrender' to him (lit islam) is the only way (din) acceptable to God, and that he himself was a prophet and messenger of God, in the same vein as other Islamic prophets. The statement as mentioned above tells us that Prophet Muhammad actively involved in preaching the message of God publicly three years after receiving the revelation from Allah. If Prophet Muhammad was cruel and that Allah's mission for him was to slaughter non-muslims as long as they'd found them, Prophet Muhammad would not spend time to preach to the public since he would began his battle to slaughter all the surrounding pagans. As Prophet Muhammad did not slaughter the pagans immediately after receiving revelation from Allah and yet he began to preach to be public actively, it implies that he is a righteous man that he would not like to see pagans to suffer in the Last Judgment Day and that caused him to begin his mission to preach the message of Allah to be public. Thus, he was indeed merciful to the pagans and he did not want to see pagans to perish during the Last Judgment Day. Muhammad gained few followers early on, and was met with hostility from some Meccan tribes; he and his followers were treated harshly. To escape persecution Muhammad and his followers migrated to Medina (then known as Yathrib) in the year 622 CE. This event, the Hijra, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, Muhammad united the conflicting tribes, and after eight years of fighting with the Meccan tribes, his folloers, who by then had grown to ten thousand, conquered Mecca. In 632, a few months after returning to Medina from his Farewell pilgrimage, Muhammad fell ill and died. By the time of his death, most of the Arabian Peninsula had converted to Islam; and he united the tribes of Arabia into a single Muslim religious polity. it is mentioned above that Meccan tribes were hostile to Muhammad. As he and his followed were treated harshly by the Mecann tribes and that caused him to trigger off the war against them. From the statement above, it is prudent to support that Prophet Muhammad did not fight initially after receiving the revelation from Allah. Instead, he actively involved in preaching the message of Allah to the pagans. He only fought back when the pagans began to trigger off their battle with him. However, muslim extremists do not like to preach the message of Allah to non-muslims and they want to slaughter them one by one without leaving any mercy and hope for their repentance. The revelations (or Ayat, lit. 'Signs of God') - which Muhammad reported receiving until his death - form the verses of the Qur'an, regarded by Muslims as the 'Word of God' and around which the religion is based. Besides the Qur'an, Muhammad's life (sira) and traditions (sunnah) are also upheld by Muslims. They discuss Muhammad and other prophets of Islam with reverence, adding the phrase peace be upon him whenever their names are mentioned. While conceptions of Muhammad in medieval Christendom and premodern times were largely negative, appraisals in modern times hve been far less so. Besides this, his life and deeds have been debated by followers and opponents over the centuries. .
@OP, nice compilation there. But i'v got some questions to ask you about him. However, i'l be back with my questions soon if you dont mind. |

tintingz: The fact still remains that wife second, third, forth prefer to marry a man with a wife already. well, i'l be repeating myself if i'm respond to ur post above because my previous post has answerd evry issue u raised here. Maybe u didnt understand wot i wrote sha. Nonetheless, u dont have to convince me abt d 'supposed' beauty of polygamy because jst as u are entitled to ur opinion, so i am also. And tho u made mention earlier that u come frm a 'happy' polygamous home, still, i'm wholly sure dat ur mom wud had preferd more to be ur dad's only wife (same with the other wife too). But since wishes are not horses, she has used d lemons God gave her to make good lemonade frm it. Limited choices(e.g absense of desired bachelor as suitor) & no-choice-at-all(e.g pregnancy induced marriages, forced marriage by guardian e.t.c) are the vital reasons some women agree to marry married men. So @tintinz, u need not sweat it ok? At least So far, from all the ladies posts on this thread, i can see dat none hopes for a polygamous home; thus, this ought to tell u something. 6 Likes |

tintingz: @bold tintingz: @bold And who told you these women prefer polygamy to monogamy if i may ask? Women who decide to end up as 2nd-xtra wife are usually women who do not have a better monogamy option available to them; thats reality as it is. I know you may want to drag the argument unnecessarily as usual, bt thats ok because we all are entitled to our respective opinions. That 2nd, 3rd or more wife you see would always wish she was the only one in the man's life (or wish she met & married him earlier b4 the 1st). Reason may be because she saw in the man things she loves & cant get/find in other single men. {In other words, if you are to present these choices for her: the man(she loves) as a single & the same man as someone's hubby(married), she'l surely chose the man in his single state because he'l be all for her} Nothwitstanding, you are still entitled to your opinion, so no need for further arguments. 10 Likes |

Interesting read thus far. Anyways, i'm yet to hear any lady wish a polygamous marriage for herself or prefer polygamy to monogamy. Hence, i wont be wrong to conclude that only some men support polyamy wholly because they are the only beneficiaries of it. However IMHO, polygamy reeks of sheer greed by the men that indulge in it (like some nlanders also pointed out on the thread). No child, whether male or female, wishes to see his/her parents practise polygamy. So the excuse that the wife & child(ren) also benefit from polyamy is utter b.s. 16 Likes 3 Shares |

2good: I have 2 questions to ask. The first is why didn't Europe/ America and UN create a state for Israel in one of the lands in either Europe or America? The second question is, how will Nigerians today feel if the Brits had displaced them from Nigeria forcefully, relocated the Jews from Europe after second war to take their lands while destroying Nigerian settlements in the process? I am very sure that Nigerians will create militia uprising which will be label as a terrorist group, like the Jews had several uprising against the Germans during the second world war and they were labelled as terrorist by the Germans. I honestly agree to a 2-state solution because dats d most viable option available for peace to be restored. D Palestinians need to hav their own markd sovereign state, as well as d Isreal. But to say dey want to drive out d Isrealis entirely frm dt region or totally exterminate d "zionists" frm d land (as Hamas hv stated dey wil) is a big joke dat wil only keep causing d deaths of many innocent lives. 2 Likes |

There's no correlation btween my post & ur response at all. My point is dat Hamas shuld stop d rocket attacks as soon as possible & work towards actualisin d 2-state option wit Isreal because Isreal hs alrdy establishd its territory there, hence, it wil be utter foolishness for Hamas to keep attemptin to completely drive out d Isrealis frm their alrdy markd territory via rocket attacks & oda violent attacks. 3 Likes |

Hamas should be held accountable for d sufferin, deaths & pain presently being xperienced by d palestinians. Isreal has d absolute right to defend itself & d sooner Hamas accept to recognise d state of Isreal a country dat hs come to stay, d better for d palentinians in general. Alot of countries in d world came into existence 1st as occupiers & sm even had to annihilate almost all of d original indigenes of such occupied lands, bt i dont see any1 forcing such countries out of their markd territories nw because it is a vry stupid thing to do dat wil only cause more pain & bloodshed. Rather, d parties to both sides hv since embraced d path of peace & learnt to respect each oda, while living amicably togeda. So my advise to Hamas is to learn to live amicably wit Isreal & stop tryin to totally drive dem out of their alrdy markd territory. Hamas must recognise d 2-state solution, stop d rocket attacks & allow peace to reign permanently in dat region. 4 Likes |
