My friend had facial palsy during pregnancy that left her face twisted to one side and one-eye is always watery. She has been both emotionally and psychologically affected by this incident and I believe she will benefit from non-surgical injection face-lift to bring back her self-esteem. Does anyone in the house know a reputable practice she can go for such procedure in Lagos? Thank you.

Hi Bernard,
In your post regarding cervical smear test 2years 11months ago, you mentioned its N1000 to carry out the test. I am encouraging women in my local church in Ikotun Lagos to do this test but the quote we are getting from local private diagnostic organisations is between N8000-N10000. Please direct us to where we can go get the test done for N1000 in Lagos.

Thank you.

hi nabsta,

I am organising women in my local church to do cervical smear test but we don't know where to go do it for N1000 per person - which is the amount most of them can afford. As a professional in the field, can you help us research different places in Lagos mainland where one can do it for such cost? Yearly cervical smear test should be free where a responsible government is in place but it doesn't appear we have a government that can do this for the women free of charge. I went checking at a localmedical diagnostic centre in Ikotun, Lagos and they want N10,000 per person. How encouraging is that for women who are managing their families on very limited income? I have been at a church service where one of the doctors who gave a talk on the importance of carrying out this check on a yearly basis said some organisations can come out to do it for a group of 50 women and above at N1000 each.

Please help us get all the necessary info. Thanks.

I hardly comment on nairaland but this is a very interesting thread and what it means for me is that we are all one and the same people born in different geographical locations. While each one of us will always have different views concerning any topic, we should endeavour to shun tribalism and all the abuse that's making nairaland unattractive to serious minded people.

btw Olaniyi means Wealth is honourable in Yoruba language.

Seun and other Nairaland moderators,

I'd like to know whether the people in government get to read these posts and if not, whether you can do something about it like: compiling the complaints and send it to the relevant governments @ local, state and federal levels.  This is very necessary because I have sent complaints to newspapers regarding the states of Ikotun-Ijegun-Isheri-Oshun roads but nothing is happening.  They are not maintaining the very bad roads talk less of building new ones.  I am very particular about states and LG roads in IKOTUN/IGANDO in ALIMOSHO area.

In fulfillment of an electoral promise in Ikotun, the local govt tarred two roads (Obabiyi and Carwash) and they didnt last six months before they had big potholes because of very poor execution of projects.  Its like the contractors deliberately construct  the roads not to last more than 6 months.  A visit to Isheri-Idimu roundabout towards Abule Odu area will reveal how roads that have just been finished barely 4 months ago already have potholes in them.  Isn't there a way to monitor and ensure quality materials are used and necessary bonds are signed to ensure these roads serve us for at least two years?  I hate it when government officials talk about the rains as if rains have just started falling during their tenure in office.  Are there not nations with more (harsh) seasons elsewhere and their roads last for years on end?

Abaranje Road into Oke-Rube, Ikotun is a parallel road to Igando Road and very close to LASU-Isheri Road but the local govt has refused to construct a road over the canal in Oke-Rube.  One sensible individual has constructed a pedestrian footbridge over the canal to serve the local people at a cost of N50 per person but you have to drive about 2 kilometers through very bad road to Ikotun centre (confusion zone) from Oke-Rube to access Igando into LASU-Isheri road - a journey of about 3 minutes from Oke-Rube if a road was constructed.  Should a caring and forward looking government not have a plan to alleviate the sufferings of its tax-paying populace in the suburbs?

Please pass these messages to concerned government because we'd like to know why are things like these in Nigeria?

There is no doctor to attend to anyone's medical complaint on this thread. You better reach out to a ready doctor on www.prohealthnigeria.com for quick response to your needs. My request dated 10th February to a doctor on Nairaland remains unattended. So visit the above website asap. Good luck with finding solution to your medical challenges.

Dear Doctor,

I have an older friend who suffers from weak legs. She is not paralysed but she cannot walk, she crawls around and has been home-bound for over one year now. She couldn't tell me what the doctors diagnosed and she's spent all her savings buying expensive drugs from a nurse who comes to supply some white tablets in clear plastics to her. My friend said the nurse told her she has damaged nerves and the tablets has steroids to help repair and strengthen the nerves. These nameless tablets cost my friend N18,000 per pack but there is no improvement. She has a zimma frame to move around but its quite a big effort just to get up and use the frame so she's discouraged and hardly moves except on her hands and knees. She's attended physio only once and hasn't returned to the general hospital because she cant get there without physical help and transportation.

What is her condition and how can she be treated at home? Thanks for your help.

If it is true that the man insulted his own dad publicly in the past, then he has already put a curse on himself. Respect to parents and elders is the first commandment with a promise of long life and prosperity - no matter what OBJ did or did not do, could the guy not have kept out of OBJ's way? He intentionally went into the room where OBJ and others were to create unnecessary commotion which has resulted in negative ripple effects. Fayose needs to remember what happens to Deji of Akure - any man who is not in charge of his emotions is not fit to rule anyone, family, community or state. I have watched Fayose speak, both at home and abroad and my assessment is: the guy lacks wisdom and needs to attend a course in public speaking

Thanks Exponential, I have requested for prepaid meter and they told me its out of stock. Can you ever win with these corrupt people in essential service sector in Nigeria? I believe this meter maintenance charge is something they programmed into their system to steal money from consumers - one of them said its their "ogas up in the system" that share the money for meter maintenance. Imagine the marketer in my area rides a heavy 4x4 and boasts he will soon finish his second house before they sell off PHCN. The guy is just a marketer!!

I didn't know the FG was going to release this news when I posted the following in the Complaints forum on Saturday, 11/12.

Hello All Nairalanders/Moderators,

Can we have Consumer Complaints as a separate section on Nairaland Forum cryplease? I have a complaint about PHCN services and bills that I'm getting. I have been to Consumer Forum of Nigeria (CAFON) hosted by Sola Salako but PHCN personnel deliberately came very late to the forum in order to avoid consumer questions and they ran away before the end of the programme under the guise that they had more important appointments!!! I wonder what appointments could be more important than that of the customers paying their bills.

I know its almost the same experience with everyone living in 9ja and people hardly bother such issues anymore, but we the Nairalanders should be able to set up our own equivalent of United States Tea Party forum and begin to get the government to give attention to our objective complaints. Let us help ourselves.

My complaint is that I keep getting Meter Maintenance Charge as part of my bill every month. I have written to my local PHCN office to protest that I dont have a meter, even though I paid for one years back and have continued to give copies of my receipt to them. They just told me I have to keep paying as there's nothing they can do about it. I checked on line and was asked to write to the Power Minister to protest it but we know President Goodluck Jonathan is currently in charge of the power ministry. How do you get Mr. President to give attention to this sort of complaint? I wrote my first complaint letter three years ago when I was getting N154 meter maintenance charge as part of my monthly bill. This was increased to N1019 since July 2010 without consultation or warning whatsoever. I went to my local PHCN office and all I got was "it not just you but everyone is affected by the increase" attitude. Nobody seems to want to hear that I haven't got a meter talk less of getting it maintained by PHCN staff. Nobody does anything but drop the monthly bill at my door.

Nairalanders, the election is just round the corner and I feel that if nothing is done about this governmental rip-off, the private companies who buy off PHCN will continue this trend when they take over the business. Please let us make our voice heard by this government.

What is your experience and what result did you get if you did anything about it? Can anyone advice us how we can get this and other consumer issues to the attention of the government, whether local, state or federal? Thanks in advance for your useful contribution.

If anyone has spoken to hope4hiv before, they would realise he is a hustler per excellence. He responded to a genuine business I posted on Nairaland and sent an email to me wanting the stuff. I gave him an appointment in my office but he dint show up so I called him and I knew instantly from his conversation that he was going to get me to part with my goods without paying for it. The guy is a fraudster per excellence and God is going to get him exposed soon, irrespective of where he is hiding.

Sensitive Calf

Hi doctor,

Welldone for all the good work you are doing Nairalanders. Please help diagnose this health condition: My left calf is very sensitive to cold air. Even when I sleep and my body temperature drops, the left calf begins to ache and it doesn't matter how deeply asleep I was, the discomfort wakes me up until I wear a calf support to warm it up. I dont have this problem at all once the calf support is on. I'm really worried because last nite because the ceiling fan was on in my room and didn't have d calf support on, I felt a drilling pain in my calf bone. It was very sharp and I had to get up immediately to wear a thick calf support. I don't like this situation at all and its getting embarassing as it happens, even in the afternoon, as long as I don't have the support on. I don't want to wear calf support all the time Kindly help please.

HealthRe: How Do You Cure Mouth Odour by zahealer(f): 9:00pm On Nov 27, 2009
Brush your teeth twice daily not only with toothpaste but use table salt to brush your tongue and gargle with warm salty water. Also lick mint to freshen your breath and get into the habit of smelling your own breath with your hand cupped over your mouth and nose. Also drink a lot of water to unclog/detox your system. If no improvement, then see your dentist for further help.
