The present constitution of d union allows freshers to vote. But dey av almost started an amendment to d constitution which may probably disallow freshers to vote b4 d ASUU strike came in. So, if dey are unable to complete dat amendment b4 d next election, dat means u guyz will be eligible to vote.

drered: My honest advice would be that you shouldn't settle for less. I know most of you are thinking about the now, frustrated with staying at home and being left back but you should also think about the after.
Sadly, unless you have the means, education isn't really about what you have passion for no more but what is marketable in Nigeria. Go to the jobs/vacancy section of NL and see how crazy and crowded it is there. I know loads of people that graduated say 4-6 years ago and are either still at home or just hustling doing jobs that they are over qualified for because "their skill is not needed". If you want a course keep trying till you get it unless the course you decide to fallback on is also marketable or you have a network where irrespective of the course you study you'll get a decent job.
When I just got into U.I i knew loads of peeps that wanted to study medicine/pharmacy but got either physiology or biochem and they worked real hard to be able to cross over. A friend even got a 6.4GP but wasn't accepted to medicine. Why? The 150 slot for MBBS/BDS was already filled up. Matter of fact only one student (someone I know) was accepted to BDS and according to what I heard his mother went paranoid and since she had been working for U.I for over 20 years he was accepted. They wouldn't tell you all this now. They'd say apply you can cross. Yes, anything goes. But make informed choices.
Chairman, I tink u are not getting it wen u talked about "marketable course". There is nothing like marketable course in d Nigerian labour market. Except for professional courses like Law and the Medical related courses dat has exclusive control of their line, companies out dere do not ask for d course u studied in d university, all dey are interested in is wot u came out wif. Wot most standard companies ask is "a minimum of second class upper in any discipline". I'm talking from experience and I know wot I'm saying. So, whether u study Philosophy in skool, or u study Biochemistry, History, Economics, Accounting, Yoruba, Zoology, Chemistry, French, Or wotever, u are all going to strive for d same job outside dere, u are all going to write d same aptutude test. Wot only qualifys u to apply for a job is ur grade. So, don't get it twisted, wotever course u are doing, strive to be d best in it. Don't be surprised if u see a 2:1 graduate of Yoruba working in an Auditing firm or a Bank and a 2:2 graduate of Economics shouting "unemployment". The difference dere is not d course but d grade. GOODLUCK.

AmiableJay: I corroborate this fact.

I congrate u all who made the cut-offs for ur various depts. And to those of u who are below d cut-offs, keep ur hopes alive. Follow d instructions given on UI website so dat ur admission into d Premier University will be a reality dis session.
For those of u who are coming into d prestigious faculty of law, I say "a BIG welcome to u." No faculty does it better dan d faculty of law, UI. I can assure u dat u will enjoy ur 5 yrs on campus in our faculty. Welcome.
To d whole house, if u av any question pertaining to UI, feel free to ask and I will be glad to reply. My 2go username for dose who don't av it is TCENT45. I'm ZEZENY nd I rep "the black and white penguins of the university of ibadan"

Sadeluhv: I will prefer either Queen or Idia cos sm1 said it's closer to dept of Art.
Queens and Idia are not in d same area at all. Idia and Awo are not far from each oda, but Queens hall is separate from dem. But Queens Hall is d closest to d Faculty of Arts.

Mesopotamia: be like sey dat mellanby go make sense....if nt,zik/teder go do though i'm planning to stay off campus.
REASON:i dnt knw if all hostels have wi-fi,if nt,i'll prefer mellanby/tedder coz itz closer to love garden/adm office and my dept.
I'll choose zik coz i'll like to experience diz so calld 'aro' and also coz of d social life.
I'll prefer to stay off campus coz of my privacy[itz paramount].
Haven said these,i'll like to point out to u that serenity, neatness, social life, privacy and also academics z a major factor for me choosing a hostel,so any1 that have all these xtics z my choice, though i can't select.
You av a very good point. But d fact is dat whether u like to stay in town or not, u must surely get a hall of residence. It is compulsory as it is your constituency in UI.
EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by zezeny: 1:11pm On Oct 07, 2013
While u await ur cut off nd list, express ur faith by answering dis simple question. WHICH HALL OF RESIDENCE WILL YOU LIKE TO STAY IN THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN AND WHY ? (Male: Zik, Mellanby, Kuti, Bello, Indi, Tedder... Female: Queens, Idia, Awo).

EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by zezeny: 3:41pm On Oct 05, 2013
matson247: na History sure pass all dese small small courses u dey talk abt. If you look into the world now u will see dat we are all operating historically. There is nothin that occured in dese world dere will always be a reference a the past. And more so HISTORY tHE GUIDELINE FOR THE WORLD OF TODAY
U very right my guy. History is everytin in life. Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engeneering, etc all have deir own history. A nation without history has no future. But unfortunately, our country is such dat our leaders have relegated history as a course to d background because dey know dat it exposes deir hidden agenda. A very good example is d recent decision to remove d course as a subject in secondary school replacing it with Civics. This is all in a bid to get our children unfamiliar with d past of dis country right from d beginning so dat in future dey will not be able to incite revolution fighting for deir rights.
However, d relevance of history in d society can still not be backside.

Lest i forget, u guyz shud be very conversant with d jamb website, as it is very much possible for ur admission status to av been dere even wen UI might still not release d cut off marks. So as u keep UI's website opened on ur fone browser, do same for d Jamb website too. GOODLUCK

Fynestboi: @boss zezeny i gat another question to ask about this moving from one department to another or from a department to faculty at what percentage is this possible if i may ask....

btwn UI and OAU which his more easy to get such move

At least wif my experience of it, it is not dat easy with regards to moving to law, because of d quota system law operates on. But I tink some pple do try deir luck nd win. And I tink dat is for both schools.
EducationRe: A Thread For Law And Philosophy Undergraduates, Graduate and Aspirant. by zezeny: 12:55pm On Oct 03, 2013
gentlefada: what about D.E cause i know its hard to get law from D.E. for jamb its the same with my skul(OAU)as ii also knew nobody before i was addmitted. I just made the cut off and i was given the admission. On the other hand i know its not the same with direct entry becus there are very few spaces and many applicants. So the few who end up getting it are those with unbeatable resulyt like a firstclass or people who know people in power.
Just as we av much applicants nd few spaces for D.E., so also we av much applicants and few spaces for jamb applicants if u would agree with me, as u know dat Law runs on quota. In my school, d same plain process dat characterise d jamb admission is also wot obtain in D.E. During admission in my school, u don't see pple lobbying around d Faculty because nobody will tell u to submit any document or wotever. Dats d tradition. So its d same for all admission in UI, (D.E. or Jamb).
N.B. Pls I'm not trying to compare schools or hype my school. I'm only saying wot obtains in my school, nd I blive it can be d same in some oda schools too.
EducationRe: A Thread For Law And Philosophy Undergraduates, Graduate and Aspirant. by zezeny: 12:18pm On Oct 03, 2013
Fynestboi: thnk you so much bossman

which would you advise me to go for?

rewrite another jamb to get in for law?
or D.E?
It depends on u and ur convinience. The both are good. But not much candidates are picked tru D.E., maybe 20 to 25 maximum. But as for Jamb, u av d chance because many candidates are chosen as u know. GOODLUCK.
EducationRe: A Thread For Law And Philosophy Undergraduates, Graduate and Aspirant. by zezeny: 11:44am On Oct 03, 2013
Fynestboi: if i undastnd what mesopotamia was saying better he was nt referng to gaining admisn being a long leg traditional to get in bt he was asking about the D.E Move i.e after obtaining B.A in philosophy is it possible, if possible is it easier to get Direct Entry to law with the B.A Witout sitting for jamb again..
It surely easy. As long as u av a good grade (minimum of 2:1). But, d competitiveness depends on how many pple applied tru direct entry in a particular year. But, u can surely apply for a d.e. with ur B.A. GOODLUCK.
EducationRe: A Thread For Law And Philosophy Undergraduates, Graduate and Aspirant. by zezeny: 8:53am On Oct 03, 2013
ayoolar011: Pls what's the acceptable. Score for law?if one is applying to your school?
Jst av above 200 in ur jamb to qualify for d post utme. But 250 nd above will be better to give u more chance. As for d post utme, jst aim high cos d cut off varies with candidates' performance every year. GOODLUCK.
