Hello everyone. How are u all doing? I must confess I'm really impressed wif d way d thread is moving. Thumbs up to u all. Concerning ur argument about OAU and UI, its not a bad one, it only makes d thread livelier. Ofcourse, some of u here know I belong to both schools (OAU and UI). I graduated from OAU and I'm now in UI again for a professional course. I can assure u one is not better dan d other. They are both among d top best schools in Nigeria and Africa at large. Each of d two schools will make u proud as a student. Everybody wants to be a part of d two Great Citadel of Learning.
I'm sorry I've not been able to come and assist u like I used on dis thread. I've been busy recently. Buh, by God's grace wen UI begins admission in full I will always find out time to come and give u necessary infos dat will keep u going. U can buy ur post utme form in any branch of d mentioned banks on UI site, in Nigeria. Jst indicate, UI branch on ur teller. GOODLUCK

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I'm happy UI has now answered u pple. About d first or second choice issue, D University of Ibadan is only inviting candidates dat chose d institution as their first choice for now. Dis however does not mean second choice candidates shud lose hope like some are doing now. After settling first choice candidates, d university will duely inform second choice candidates on d step to take. So,no one shud say UI is not inviting 2nd choice.
Dis is a simple explanation of d whole tin av made. No one shud get him/her self confused on dis issue. Concerning shortlisting, UI will send messages to dose qualified for d post utme. Which means its left to d university to decide on wot format to use in calling dem which is not totally clear to anyone now. Let's stop making guesses. GOODLUCK

Fynestboi: sire abt dat who, what, it can also be ADJECTIVAL d ansa is even adjectival coz A noun phrase consists of a noun and other related words(usually modifiers and determiners) which modify the noun. It functions like a noun in a sentence.

I didn't say "who, what, that etc" identify noun phrase, I said dey identify noun clause.yes, it cud also identify Adjectival clause but in d case of Adjectival clause it gives further info about a particular subject e.g the lady WHOSE PEN WAS STOLEN or the man WHO WON THE PRIZE. In a noun clause however, it only expresses a simple idea e.g WHAT I DETEST MOST is smoking or THAT I LOVE YOU is human.

I tink dis little analysis may help in identifying "phrases" and "clauses" in ur English Language.
(1) NOUN CLAUSE-U identify dis by d "wh" words like whose, what, when,that e.t.c dat begin a sentence.
(2) NOUN PHRASE-U identiffy dis by a phrase dat has a modifier, head word nd a qualifier. It should be noted however dat d modifier nd qualifier may not necessarily appear in all noun phrase, but d head word must surely appear e.g THE BOY IN THE ROOM is sleeping. Here d modifier is "the", d head word is "boy", and d qualifier is "in the room". We can also av dis xample ADE is playing football. Here d noun phrase is "Ade" which is d head word, no modifier nd qualifier.
(3) GERUNDIVE PHRASE- U identify dis wen u see a verb ending in 'ing'. e.g EATING is good for the body, FIGHTING is dangerous.
(4) INFINITIVAL PHRASE- U identify dis wen u see any phrase starting wit "TO" e.g TO go there is dangerous
(5) PARTICIPAL PHRASE-U identify dis wen u see a phrase dat begins wit past participle (continuing or perfected) e.g DISTRACTED BY THE NOISE COMING FROM THE SOUND,Ade was forced to leave the room. Or HAVING DONE A GOOD JOB, Tola's mother was pleased at her.
