Hello friends, hope you all are good. Just checking on you all. For now UI is dry, students are home for break, only a few IT and TP students are on campus. Management is sitting on stallites results and most of them are busy on that for now. But I hope they will be through with that before february ends.

As regards you fresh students, in few weeks time, your registration will start fully. So, do not be in a hurry. UI has not forgotten you.

Resumption date remains MARCH 21, 2015

Thanks

The resumption date remains MARCH 21 for now. No change has been made to the date for now. Like I've always said, if there will be any change in that date, I will immediately bring it to your notice. So, for now, prepare your things against the above stated date. Very soon u will start receiving your accommodation and matric no, nd after this stage payment of school and accommodation fees begin. So be prepared because UI don't give long notice for these stages. The school is in the meeting stage now where decisions are to be taken, once they decide, they swing into action. So, don't be caught unaware. Once again, RESUMPTION REMAINS MARCH 21 AS OF TODAY. ANY FURTHER CHANGE WILL BE DULY COMMUNICATED. Thanks.

TIPS ON HOW TO BE ONE OF THE BEST STUDENTS IN YOUR DEPARTMENT IN UI

Good morning fellow Uites. Revolutionary Greetings to you all. I am not always comfortable not impacting certain things especially in this opportuned period when we all are awaiting resumption. This is a period you all should gain somethings that you can hold on to when you eventually resume your studies in UI.

You can make a First Class as early as your 100level days. It is not something so difficult because some of us have experienced it too. But "the race is not for the swift", it does not matter how many hours you spend in the Library, or whether you sleep and wake in the library. In UI, some people sleep and wake in KDL (the University Library) yet erosion carries them at the end of the semester, some even get tsunamized. That why in UI, you read to get whatever you score. People who get 70 read to get it, people who score 30 too read to get it. What however makes the difference between the two is what I call the "TIPS" which I will give you below. Like I said, many of us have applied it in UI and it worked and still working for us.

(1) DO NOT MISS CLASSES UNECESSARILY. This is very important. What you hear your lecturer say, you may not find in any textbook. And those are things that will come out in your exams since the lecturer is going to set the questions. Also, by attending classes regularly, you tend to know where the lecturer focus on so much which makes you know where to read for exams so that you will not just major on the minor or minor on the major. Please, do not miss classes unless when inevitably necessary.

(2) BE SURE OF YOURSELF. Fear alone cause failure in a university. When you start panicking even before exam starts, it may weight you down. Also, never say a course is too hard and you will rather settle for a 40 (let my people go), that is the beginning of failure. First Class and 2:1 students always aim for at least a 70 in every course no matter how difficult that course may be. So when you work towards that, if the worst will happen, your can get a 60 which may be okay in certain instances. Also, always have this confidence in you when you are reading that "if my lecturer could know it, why can't I", this helps to boost performance a lot because by so doing, you will not see anything difficult in a course.

(3) READ AS YOU ARE BEING TAUGHT. This is also very important. Do not allow your lecturer to go ahead of you in a course. As you are being taught each topic, read them. This will make your reading during exams look like a mere revision and without stress. But if you pile up your notes, when exams come, they become boring to read because they will look new to you, and they may discourage you to read. I tell you, that is the beginning of failure.

(4) BE FRIEND TO YOUR LECTURERS. This is of uttmost importance. No matter how good your write-up may be, do not forget that your lecturers will determine your final score. So when you tend to maintain a cordial relationship with them, they tend to overlook simple mistakes for you and that helps in your final grading. But if it is the other way round, they will mark you down for every silly mistake which may make your final grading not satisfactory to you. So make a good friend to your lecturers, it is also the quality of a good student.

(5) BE YOURSELF, DON'T COMPROMISE. (Know What Works For You). Don't say because Kunle reads overnight, I want to read overnight too when you know your system does not support that. So also, don't say because your room mates always play around and attend all parties on campus you want to do the same. Our brains are not the same, what it will take the person 30mins to understand, it may take you 2hrs to understand same. So also, don't say because my friend attend library, you too will attend when infact your system does not support going to library. Going to library does not make you the best student. I am a living example, I have never stepped into our University library to read since I resumed UI. Infact, I have never done my library registration since I resumed till now yet I am one of the best students in my class even above people that sleep and wake up in library. On the contrary, some people gain more when they attend library. So the onus is on you to know what works best for you and apply it.

(6) FINALLY, ALWAYS PUT GOD FIRST. This is very important because no matter your efforts, if God does not bless it, it will look like a wasted effort. Pray without ceasing. If you are a Christian, always attend fellowship and if you are a Muslim, do not neglect the Mosque. Once you put God first, then He crowns your effort. Because let me tell you the truth, we make a lot of mistakes in exams that we ourselves might not even notice since it is not all times that we always have the time to cross check all we have written before submitting. So, this is where the grace of God comes in to cover up for our mistakes when the lecturers are marking.

Once you can put these 6 tips into practice as you resume UI, you are on your way to being one of the best students not only in your class or department but in UI generally.
Thank you for reading and thank you in advance as you put them into practice. I pray that you all will make the best result out of UI.

God bless you all

Do not be scared of whichever course you are admitted for in UI. You can make a First Class in any course, all it takes is determination and focus.

Below are some tips on how to make exams very simple
(1) don't miss classes. What you hear from the lecturer's mouth you may not find in the text book. Then by attending clases u tend to know d area of interest of d lecturer for exam purpose.

(2) Read as you are being taught. Don't allow your notes to pile up before reading them, it cud be dangerous for your exams. Read a topic as you are being taught

(3) understand ur self. Don't do sometin because others are doing it. You know wot is good for your system, so follow that and don't compromise.

(4) Finally here, try to be friends with your lecturers because it may be disastrous if u quarrel with dem. No matter how u read nd write, they own d final say on your results. Once u av a good rapport with dem, it helps u as dey may overlook simple mistakes for u. But if it is the other way round, they may seem to be hard on you while marking your script.

These are just few of the tips on how to be the best student in the University of Ibadan. They are more things to type, but my BB phone is fraustrating as I type cos of its unecessary hanging. So I just have to shorten all I av to type. If u av more questions to ask as regards academic life or anyoda thing in UI, you may reach me on the numbers below and I will be glad to put you tru.

Thanks

VALENTINE'S WISHES TO GREATEST UITES

Valentine is all about showing LOVE to loved ones. I think as a good Uite who also remembers that I was once a fresh student in this great citadel of learning, it is paramount for me to show love to our fresh students in the University of Ibadan in this peculiar period. That is why I, K.CENT, is wishing every newly admitted students of the University of Ibadan a "Happy Valentine's Day". Please, make sure you don't do more than your capacity today. There is a saying which goes "cut your coat according to your size". I tell you, it is not even according to your size nowadays but "according to your pocket". Remember that Valentine will come and go, don't put yourself in debt all in the name of satisfying a loved one. One of the definition of love is also understanding the status of your partner and to bear with him/her in love. So if that person is demanding for a brazillian hair or a hang-out to the Ikeja Mall when indeed he/she knows you are not worth that presently, that means he/she doesn't love you and there is no essence of a Val with him/her. Also, remember that after valentine, school resumes, so don't spend your school fees and allowance on Valentine now because UI waits for no man. Lack of finance can make one lose his/her admission. So, Be Wise !

To our intending applicant, I also wish you a "Happy Valentine" and I pray that you all will celebrate the next Valentine's day as a student of the University of Ibadan.

Once again, enjoy your Val, act responsibly and be a good ambassador of the Premier University anywhere you are. I LOVE you all.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN 2014/2015 RESUMPTION; AS IT STANDS

Revolutionary Greetings To You All

We met with principal officers of the management and we demanded to know if the postponement of the National Election will affect the school's resumption. The response we got from them is that for now it is a "NO". However, their is still going to be the COPD's meeting (Commitee Of Provost and Dean) where further decisions will be taken.

However, we can continue to fix our minds for March 21 for now. If there will be any further changes after the COPD's meeting, we will immediately inform you.

Thanks
