On the 11th of May 2020, Instagram introduced a new feature to support entrepreneurs and small businesses during this period of the COVID 19 crises. Table of Contents hide 1 What is the Support Small Business Sticker about? 2 How to use the Support Small Business Sticker Ever since the COVID 19 crises started, Facebook and Instagram have been exploring ways in which they can help entrepreneurs and small businesses minimize the effect of the pandemic on their business. One thing I like about the Support Small Business Sticker is; it is available to everyone unlike the Small Business Grant Program. So whoever you are and wherever your business is located, you can take advantage of this new feature. Let’s dive right in to see what this feature is about and how you can make the best out of it for your businesses. What is the Support Small Business Sticker about? The “Support Small Business” sticker is a way to help businesses reach new customers and stay connected to the people that they serve. It allows; 1. People mention businesses directly in the sticker to give their followers a preview of the businesses they love. 2. Businesses who are tagged using the sticker to repost the content on their story as well. When people use the sticker, their story will be added to a shared Instagram story, so their followers can see it along with other businesses that people they follow are supporting. This increases visibility and awareness for small businesses. My first rejection by a girl was in 2012. It was the last day of O'level exams, and I wasn't even wanting a relationship. I had run across the street to meet and ask for a phone number, and politely too. But Destiny, this light-skinned dimpled cheeked beauty that every boy at the external centre wanted, she did that thing y'all ladies do with your lashes, folded her arms across her chest, moved her head from right to left to right then left again, and mouthed the word, "No." Everyone talks about a moment in their life when they wished the earth would open and swallow them. It sounds clichéd... well until that person is you. That day was my moment. But then wishes aren't earthquakes, so I was sinking nowhere. My legs weighed a ton as I dragged my sorry self back to where my friends waited in the corner, and I swore never to put myself in that position again. In the years that followed, I stayed myself away from all people ladies. I sought knowledge here and there on the right style of approach, but they weren't convincing enough to apply. It wasn't just about the words to say. I had them. I needed a working blueprint. Then I discovered marketing. And in marketing, the AIDA model. It is a marketing model that describes the steps a customer goes through in the process of buying a product. This literally changed the game for me. As it's going to do for you if you're smart enough to catch it anyway. First you've got to admit that we're all selling something; products, services, ideologies. And in the case of wanting a relationship, it's simply having to sell yourself to the other person. YOU are the product up for sale. And the person of the opposite sex (which for this post would be a lady) is the prospective buyer. ATTENTION. INTEREST. DESIRE. ACTION. The first stage is the Attention stage. And the attention stage, is an awareness stage. It's the first meeting point between you and the lady. Where you catch her attention and make her aware of your existence. To achieve this feat just like in marketing, you need to be attention worthy by looking abso-vuging-lutely amazing, and showing up at places where she likes to be at. Could be at a bar, an eatery, the gym, church, comment section of posts she enjoy, etc. Establishing this similarity in taste and preference is the big first step. Being in the right place, at the right time. The Interest stage is quite just like its name—interesting. Now she knows you exist. You are handsome, you come around every Tuesday, and likes to tip the barman. You might have even said a plain hello a few times at the gym, or replied her comment and got a nice reply. But hold it! It's not the time to do a hard sell. At this stage you're still earning your prospective customer's trust, with the aim of showing her how you can be relevant to her needs. As a product, how can you make life easier and better for her? Or do you just want to be sold for your selfish reasons? It's a time to anticipate the questions that could come up in her head about you, and answer them. Are you married? What's your blood group? Do you have a child? A job? Take actions that show your values. If it's online, what are your thoughts on topics that touch on life and child right? Is religion a big deal for you? These are the filter stages. If your prospect doesn't make it past, they either were not your ideal customer, or something is not clear in your process and needs revisit. Now that she's interested in you, you don't want that interest to fade. It's time to make an approach, and move your prospect into the stage of Desire. From "I like him" to "I want him". A good way is to introduce yourself. Ask for a phone number. Call at a respectable pace and have interesting conversation. Ask for a date. And if online, slide into the dm. You have to SHOW in clear ways the value you are bringing to her life, and how you will do it. For a normal product or service, sharing testimonial of past users come to play here. For this case, introducing her to friends and a bit of family who could say nice things about you also count. As soon as the desire to buy is aroused, the final hurdle is getting the customer to buy from you. Have interest transferred into an Action, asap. Remember, even with all your persuasion, chances are that she's still a bit sceptical about the purchase. So keep it easy for her. Reassure her. For normal products, you could do a FREE TRIAL, or MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, but this case would require sincerity. Put your cards on the table. Make sure no hidden charges apply. Don't suddenly two months into the relationship have an ex wife with two kids. Always make her see that there's no risk on her part. Except of course, the risk of losing you. PS: Lately, there's been an added sibling to the AIDA formula. An “S” for "satisfaction". And this is because the product has to keep up to its promises and satisfy the consumer. Customer satisfaction is everything! It breeds loyalty and makes her keep coming back for more. PPS: If you're interested in learning marketing, which of course has gone digital now, there's a Fundamentals of digital marketing class coming up from the 11th to 15th of May. You can attend for FREE if you use the coupon code "digimay" when registering. PPPS: See first comment for registration link. |
Hey, guys, we aren't certain when this craze going on in the world will end. We never really saw this coming. We all made our plans and some of us started acting on them, but the present realities has disrupted all those plans. Kemjeka can't go to school anymore because of the risk of being infected, Taiwo hardly makes it to the office because there's been a sit at home order and is even terrified because he might be laid off, Fatai can't afford data, because his hustle by the corner isn't patronized. Where do you see yourself and your business if this goes on for 6 months? How has covid 19 affected you and your business, and what do you need to get going? |
Nice! This is awesome! If we can all come together and be selfless, we will beat this and the world will be a better place. Our own contribution, free digital marketing training. Coupon Code is digimay Digital Marketing Mods please understand. We want to help people and also grow. |

If you have ever had the opportunity of walking down the streets, where you have the clusters of Hausa guys who are into BDC, (in Port Harcourt, you can find them around the Rumuola – Hotel Presidential – GRA axis). You’ll notice something consistent about them. No matter how many times you pass their cluster, irrespective of how you look, your status or creed, they are consistently beckoning on you to come and do business with them. They do this either by waving the dollar bills at you or muttering some words asking you “you wan change?” Or one that has caught my attention very recently, ” dollar good, dollar good.” I find this a very interesting and effective marketing strategy and I thought to put out my thinking in words relating it with digital marketing and how you can better focus your strategy to get better results. Here are some things I have learned from the strategy they employ. 1. They locate their business as a cluster in high traffic and secure areas. 2. They embed the location of their services in your mind. A cluster advantage. 3. They are always reaching out with words and hooks. 4. They kind of know their potential customer, you may not buy or sell today or tomorrow but definitely someday. 5. Even though they are a cluster, they are each fighting for their own share, and so there’s a healthy competition among them. You’ll agree with me that any day in your stay in the city you decide to change money and you probably do not have or can’t reach someone from the past, your first point of call will be where you’ve seen the BDC guys gather. Who you eventually do business with is entirely left to you, or maybe not… Smiling… Digital marketing has been a buzz word in recent times without a number of people considering what the word Marketing is in the first place. Digital marketing is still very well marketing, the difference is that digital has disrupted and is constantly innovating the space. I will also include that it has fine control, is more trackable, and enables better research to mention but a few. So just the same way the BDC guys consistently and strategically reach out to their audience, you should as a matter of fact consider a mid to long term approach to your digital marketing strategy; carefully and artfully planning your marketing campaigns and aligning them with your overall business goals. This way, you get to be more human in your approach and understand what is working and not working holistically. Summarily, it is easy for us to fall into the trap of wanting to see things work out immediately we try, but that isn’t how the world works. Yes, you need to ditch the instant gratification way of thinking. You probably think that; having social media pages or putting out an ad is digital marketing and you should start seeing immediate results. I am sorry to burst your bubble, but this hardly ever works except you are a product or service centered on give away. Learn from the BDC guys, get your communication right, plan, implement, revise. Rinse, wash and repeat. Trust me, at the beginning, it is all an experiment! Dollar good, Dollar good. Oh yes even in these times. Dollar of course is good! I’ll be taking a section of the Digital Marketing Fundamentals 101 class starting from the 11th. I will be sharing a bit of my experience working in sales in a leading bank, and building businesses. I would love us to rub minds together and better our understanding of what Digital Marketing really is and how you can get started on the right foundation. Please comment on what you noticed about the BDC guy's marketing strategy too Source Dollar Good, Dollar Good
