Why do we have a white wedding? Why don't we kill still our twins? Why do we celebrate Christmas? Why don't we bury 12 servants with our dead kings? Why do we use motor vehicles? Why don't we just teleport (ofe) instead of being stuck in traffic? |
Per chance, Apple co-founder Ron Wayne who sold his shares for just $800 in 1976 to pay his bills was at the wrong place, with the wrong people, at the wrong location and at the wrong time. Tokziby: |

The Church may be a catalyst for developing talents in the absence of opportunities for vocational training. However, considering the possibility of positively impacting the economy, the church is, in fact, a leakage to the economy in terms of lost productive time, non-remuneration for services rendered and pressure on infrastructure. The Church does not pay for services rendered by the young men and women who dedicate their time and effort to achieving the operational objectives that make worshipping possible. Countless hours are volunteered by the army of workers without economic benefit to the nation whereas, these skills and time can be better accounted for in terms of contributing to national income. This affects the "CONSUMPTION" in the national income calculation as the propensity to earn is decreased. Also, the Church puts a lot of pressure on infrastructure such as roads, thereby causing road users delays in reaching their destinations that will generate economic activities. This affects the "INVESTMENT" in the national income calculation as depreciation of infrastructure is increased and productivity is lost due to commuting. Finally, the Church deprives the economy of approximately six hours weekly from the productive lives of able-bodied men and women who spend their time asking for help from God in the form of miracles rather than positioning themselves by taking baby steps towards future economic independence. More productive time is allocated as the year comes to an end and the Church is engulfed in a series of activities. In summary, moderation is required in everything we do. Thank you. |
Terrorists in the name of the law. |
As much as maintenance effort by the responsible government department is abysmal, trash does not generate itself. Commuters who depend on the buses are most guilty of vandalism and destruction, forgetting that they are fastly depreciating public property which is indirectly owned by them. |

I wish the SE zone can translate their alleged industrial sagacity into economic realities for increased IGR. This begs some questions: is there a lack of commitment to collect IGR or there is avoidance by the payees or there is no economic capacity as alleged? |
The only thing from which we derive reading and sharing pleasure is the Bad news, Fake news and Stupid news just so they can consistently breed an army of trolls. Beware! |
It is time for Seun to make an attempt to clamp down on fake news before it derails our emerging democracy. Fake news articles originate on several types of social media, blogs, and websites and its effect are going to have a significant impact on governance, peace, and stability in the long run. The proliferation of news media such as Nairaland by fake news items and sources, posters creating and sharing unimaginable false news and propaganda, that disparage and maliciously slander varying groups by artificially inflating the popularity of one party potentially influence public opinion is a major problem facing us today after religious overdosing and corruption. Granted that traditional journalism and legitimate news websites are compromised and lost professionalism, it is to our own benefit that we nip this in the bud. As this is already taken too far, it surely affects people who require the true information in order to form an unbiased opinion on our nascent democratic institutions. It is no news that the political class who remember the voters once in every four years are never working for us, as they are evil birds of a feather. We can only safeguard our future by preventing some people from dividing us. Even if we decide to go separate ways in nationhood, we are still citizens of the world. |
I have found peace of mind and purpose since going back to my roots. With Christianity and Islam, I lived in a confused state all my life, filled with conflicting principles, both imported cultures aimed at disparaging my Yoruba heritage by coloring it black and making it seem barbaric. English for me is the vernacular, my kids will never have non-Yoruba names and they will only converse with me in Yoruba. |

Make: Knowing early I needed to make a balance between what I love doing, what makes me relevant, and what brings food to the table. Nowadays, my reminiscing time makes me smile. In my final year in the University, as an accounting student, I realized there was no special selling point in the accounting profession so I quickly changed my gear soon as I graduated and specialized in a more rewarding skill that will reward my parents investments. |
"Youth is not a time of life but a state of mind." The Nigerian youth (a vast majority) cannot be identified with any common sense. They blame the government for everything, forgetting that they have contributed more than any age demography in bringing ineffective governments into power. Five times (1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 & 2015), they've had the chance to subvert the paradigm by removing the old cargoes from power but they prefer to be handed one thousand naira and packet of noodles for exchange for votes, then the revert to kidnapping, internet fraud, armed robbery and other vices when there is nothing left to eat. More prevalent is the application of jungle justice when a common man like them steals a fowl, whereas, the elected politicians and appointees who represent them and steal the country dry are worshipped by same youths. The state of mind of the Nigerian youth is thoroughly maleficent. |

Likes, hash tags, and retweets represent the celebrity power barometer. Promoting #HoustonFlood keeps our hypocritical celebs & politicians in the lime light...unfortunately #Benue can't even make the 'V' in viral. Secondly, #Houston is foreign (imported) so We_luv_it!. #Benue is local...like Aba made. |

Opportunities abound in the Data analysis field and it is a worthwhile venture if you have the resources to further develop your capabilities. You can be proficient in the use of CAAT tools like ACL or IDEA which is used in industries with a high volume of data e.g. finance and telecoms. Alternatively, you can focus on the emerging technologies such as Big Data analytics which has few professionals in stock, hence increasing your chances at employment. Data is the new oil and industries world over have turned their direction to getting maximum information from Data to make decisions and target their marketing efforts. Remember: Data>Information>Knowledge>Wisdom. |
I shall consider this topic bringing two concepts - culture and religion, side by side for comparison. In the past, our cultures determined the moral grounds we choose to abide and thus, predicted our consideration of sin. In fact, culture and religion were bound. Today, our culture has largely been eroded by the adoption and proliferation of foreign religions to replace aspects of our beliefs. As to why "sin" may have become normalized, I'll give an example. Divorce was culturally and religiously immoral (sinful) in the days of old but in modern times, its cultural immorality is almost non-existent whilst religiously, it is still largely immoral. The reason for this is that culture metamorphs through changes in peoples habits and experiences. However, the dictates of a religion were made to be constant and unchanged. This is why in Nigeria, misappropriation of funds is culturally "allowed" but remains religiously repugnant (although in principle but not in practice) - No religion promotes stealing. To conclude, the phenomenon of normalization of sin is affected by the view in which it is considered - according to culture or religion, and its primary audience - people. |

And what is so amusing about that? Is this post to educate us about the known failings of Nigeria's premier airport infrastructure or to put the state of the facility to further ridicule in front of the rest of the world? |
Be wise! Your work pays the bills and provides the money for your tithes and offerings. Jesus in the gospel of Luke spoke of a servant being worthy of his hire. On a closer look, this post is misleading...the OP has not been reading his bible. |
