The problem is the language barrier and racism. Some Chinese won't give you a time of the day especially when you're coloured. But then the economy is fantastic and has a huge prospect. |

otipoju: And the ingrate of a man said on his swearing in " I belong to nobody and i belong to everybody" and proceeded to appoint members of his ethnic group to all vital positions and sideline the very man who helped him win. Politics › Re: Before Tinubu Became President, He Was A Very A Good Man - Babachir Lawal by zoghys: 8:46am On Jul 27 |
ryloy: Before Tinubu became President, he was a very a good man who used to give people big money. He has helped a lot of people without waiting for any favour. He was very good to be with but northerners hijacked him from us and some religious bigots lied to him. So, we couldn't access him as usual. Therefore, what made him a good man is no longer there. Unless he goes back to how he was before he became president to be giving money, he is not good again......"
NB: This is purely my personal interpretation of Babachir Lawal's interview and I think I am entitled to my opinion and interpretation.
My Take: If because President Tinubu refused to share Nigeria's money to you the way he was dashing you his personal money is the reason why you say he's a bad man, so be it!!!
Happy Sunday to All Progressives Only
Which personal money is he sharing??. He's the godfather in Lagos and the money is from the state purse. This man enriched himself, his family and political allies from Lagos state and today he's sitting at Aso rock making policies that hasn't work and may not work. It's obvious for all to see what's happening, so coming here to defend him and make him look like a saviour of our time is complete uselessness and DOA damage control. If truly votes count, then he won't win a reelection. |
Politics › Re: Asked For Three Security Solutions, Peter Obi Offered Three Emotions Instead. by zoghys: 8:35am On Jul 27 |
CharlesCNG: So, after all the noise, you have finally admitted that Peter Obi may not be the man.
That admission is important.
But once you remove Obi from the conversation, your argument suddenly becomes incomplete. You say Tinubu has failed—but failed by what measurable standard?
Has he failed because he removed an unsustainable fuel subsidy previous governments were afraid to touch? Because he ended the multiple exchange-rate system that rewarded connected middlemen? Because federal allocations to states and local governments have risen substantially? Because student loans, tax reforms, local-government autonomy, electricity decentralisation and major infrastructure projects are now being implemented?
You may disagree with the reforms. You may argue that the cushioning measures were inadequate, inflation remains painful and insecurity is still unacceptable. Those are legitimate criticisms.
But hardship during structural reform is not automatic proof that nothing is working.
So define failure properly.
Which indicators are you using? Revenue? Reserves? GDP growth? Infrastructure? Education financing? State allocations? Investment? Security? Cost of living?
Then comes the bigger question.
Now that you admit Obi may not be qualified, who exactly is the person Nigeria should elect?
What is his security blueprint?
What economic reforms will he reverse or retain?
Will he restore fuel subsidy? Reintroduce multiple exchange rates? Cancel tax reforms? Stop infrastructure projects?
What precisely will this unnamed saviour do differently?
It is easy to shout, “Tinubu must go.”
The serious democratic question is:
Who should replace him, and where is that person’s superior, costed and workable programme?
Nigeria cannot replace difficult reform with another beautifully packaged experiment. Listen, you can do all your textbook analysis for all I care. A man that knows what's he's doing and prepared for this job must at least study the effect of removal of fuel subsidy and it's multi layer effect before making such move. Inasmuch as I agree with removal of subsidy, my take is it has to be gradual while the proceed are channel towards subsidizing the economy especially on food and providing a secure environment for all to live and foreign investors to feel secured to invest in the economy. Every move of Mr president is apolitical and centered around his reelection and moving the country into a one party system. No country can thrive where insecurity is alarmingly high, and what we're now witnessing as never been this bad in the history of the country. I don't have anything personal with Mr president but I don't see him leading us to any land talk less of the promise land. |
Politics › Re: Asked For Three Security Solutions, Peter Obi Offered Three Emotions Instead. by zoghys: 6:31am On Jul 27 |
CharlesCNG: PETER OBI’S SECURITY BLUEPRINTLESSNESS IS HIS FIRST DISQUALIFICATION.
One moment in Peter Obi's Channels Television interview with seun yesterday may ultimately define the entire conversation.
The interviewer asked what every presidential candidate should expect to answer:
"Give us three things you would do to ensure insecurity is dealt with."
It was the perfect opportunity to unveil a security blueprint.
Instead, BLUEPRINTLESS Obi declined to provide one.
He said he would not disclose his plans publicly. He promised to be "more committed," support the security architecture, work with partners, personally visit troubled communities and show stronger leadership.
No one expected him to reveal classified military operations. But Nigerians were entitled to hear broad policy proposals.
Would he create state police? Tinubu Already did.
Would he establish regional counter-terrorism commands? Tinubu has already done.
Would he expand military recruitment? Tinubu has already Approved.
Would he deploy surveillance technology? Tinubu has already done and is doing.
Would he secure forests and borders differently from what Tinubu is already doing?
Would he reform intelligence coordination? The intelligence community has never been better cordinated.
None of these questions received concrete answers.
Instead, commitment became the policy.
Compassion became the strategy.
Visibility became the blueprint.
A president's duty is not merely to arrive first at the scene of tragedy. It is to build institutions that prevent tragedies from happening in the first place.
There is an important distinction between operational secrecy and policy secrecy. Military tactics should remain confidential. But presidential priorities, institutional reforms and strategic direction should never be mysteries during an election campaign.
For years, Peter Obi has argued that Nigeria needs a new direction. Yet when presented with perhaps his best opportunity to explain that direction, he largely described his passion rather than his plan.
Nigeria deserves more than reassurance.
General promises and motivational speeches are not security policy.
Leadership requires more than repeatedly describing Nigeria’s problems. It requires presenting practical solutions, timelines, institutions, funding plans and measurable targets.
Until Peter Obi produces a serious security programme, Nigerians are justified in questioning his preparedness for the presidency.
His inability to offer a credible security blueprint is not a minor omission. It is the first major proof that he is not ready, not adequately prepared and not qualified to govern a complex country like Nigeria. All these write up for a washed up president whom under his administration there is evidence of monumental corruption and gross insecurity that has never been witnessed in this country. Obi may not be the man but definitely Tinubu has failed and doesn't deserve additional four years. I hope and pray we get it right this time around. |

Rhymesy: Something happened last week in my church that startled me. A husband and wife are both members of the same choir. Last week during choir rehearsal, the husband came late. The Choir Master asked him to kneel down as discipline, and the man’s wife was also present. The man boldly said it was an insult for the Choir Master to ask him to kneel in front of his wife. The Choir Master didn’t take it well and insisted that the man obey him. The wife also got angry and started exchanging words with the Choir Master, saying he had disrespected her husband. Both husband and wife left the church and went home. When the news got to the pastor, he expressed dissatisfaction with the Choir Master’s approach and suspended him. The Choir Master vowed never to return to the church and left after the suspension. Nairalanders, who is at fault at this point? Are you sure your choir master is not on some cheap asaba weed?. |
