FSBoperator:
President Donald Trump said Friday that he could soon declare the Strait of Hormuz “a territory of the United States,” an extraordinary remark as he touted U.S. military control of the critical waterway during the war with Iran.

“After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated, pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,” Trump said during remarks at the David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence in Nassau County, New York.

The president also said he has used the military “a little bit more than I wanted to” but argued pressure on Tehran is necessary to prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/iran-war-trump-strait-of-hormuz-08-14-26

To achieve this Trump needs an adjourning land mass to claim a water way that is thousands of miles from the US.

According to international maritime law concerning territorial waters, claims to a water body rest largely on an adjacent land territory to the contested water body.

Is Trump going to annex Oman and Iranian territories bordering the narrow waterways ?

While annexing Qatar is every possible , Trump will need to annex the Iranian coastal lands opposite to that of Oman to be able to claim full US control of the straits.

Easier said than done.
I have followed united state politics for a while now and sincerely I have never seen any president so non presidential as Donald Trump.

A woman identified in a viral video as “Arugba” has allegedly threatened voters in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, warning those who do not support the All Progressives Congress against coming out to vote.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed the woman alongside several others making remarks that appeared aimed at intimidating voters before the August 15 election.

In the footage, she allegedly threatened physical harm against people who cast their ballots for parties other than the APC.

“We will cut the finger you used to vote [for] any party except APC. That finger won’t follow you go back home that day,” she was heard saying.

The woman further warned residents who did not intend to vote for the APC to stay away from polling centres.

Politics › Re: Tompolo Only Ex-militant Leader In The Struggle Working For Tinubu's Reelection by zoghys: 11:42pm On Aug 13
[quote author=DailyNigeria post=140325678]An Open Letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Dear Mr President,

I write this open letter as a Niger Delta stakeholder because there is a reality surrounding your 2027 re-election that I believe you need to hear directly.

Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, is the only ex-militant leader from the struggle platform working openly and actively for your re-election in 2027.

Tompolo is not waiting for campaign money before taking action. He has already taken a clear position and is putting his resources, influence and political network behind the campaign to return you to Aso Rock in 2027.

Through the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, he is taking the campaign to the grassroots and mobilising support for your re-election.

This is not a man waiting to be convinced.

Tompolo has already chosen Tinubu.

TOMPOLO IS WORKING WHILE OTHERS ARE WAITING

Mr President, Tompolo's commitment is demonstrated by action, not merely words.

He has provided vehicles to support your campaign mobilisation across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. He is investing his own resources in the political struggle because he believes in the continuation of your administration.

This is important because other former militant leaders have already made their own political choices.

Some have candidates they intend to support and are waiting for campaign money and political resources from the APC before openly abandoning the APC to fully support their choice candidates.

Simply put, they are moles in the APC waiting to sabotage and leave the party stranded on the day of election.

Tompolo is different.

He does not need anybody to give him money before he shows his support for you.

He has already begun the work.

MR PRESIDENT, THE NIGER DELTA NEEDS TOMPOLO

As someone from the Niger Delta, I understand the importance of having people who can genuinely reach our communities.

The Niger Delta is not Abuja.

Our people are spread across riverine communities, creeks, towns and villages. Political mobilisation in the region requires people who understand the terrain and have genuine relationships with the people.

Tompolo has that reach.

He has the experience, relationships and grassroots influence required to communicate directly with the people of the Niger Delta.

Mr President, if you want to consolidate your support in the region, you need to give greater confidence, responsibility and legitimate opportunities to those who are already doing the work of reaching the people, and that's what Tompolo and his boys have been doing in the past few years.

Tompolo is doing that work. He is not even making any noise about it.

SELFISH INTERESTS MUST NOT OVERRIDE NATIONAL INTEREST

Mr President, there are former militant leaders who are unhappy with Tompolo because of the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

Their personal interests must not be allowed to become a political campaign against you or against somebody who has demonstrated commitment to your administration.

If Tantita is performing its responsibilities and complying with the requirements of the Federal Government, its contracts should be determined by performance, due process and national interest.

They should not become instruments for political revenge.

AFTER 2027, DO NOT ALLOW ANYBODY TO FIGHT TOMPOLO FOR SUPPORTING YOU

Mr President, I make this appeal particularly strongly.

When you win the 2027 presidential election, nobody should suddenly raise his ugly head against Tompolo because he supported your re-election or because his company has legitimate Federal Government contracts.

Nobody should attempt to witch-hunt him for doing political work for you when others were unwilling to do so.

If he has supported your campaign, mobilised Nigerians and committed his own resources to your victory, then his loyalty should not become a reason for victimisation after the election.

Those who refused to work for your victory should not be allowed to become the people who determine the fate of those who worked for you.

Of particular concern is the overbearing media campaigns against Tompolo by General Shoot-at-Sight, General Boyloaf and General Amagbein. They are none APC members who are using the name of the APC and the 2027 general elections to fight against Tompolo because he was awarded pipeline surveillance contract.

They are so particular about Tompolo and they are willing to go to any length to remove the contract from him simply because of hatred and envy.

Mr. President, these people are not working for you. They are only bent on destabilizing the region and dividing the votes. Tompolo is the only person zealously working for your reelection.

MR PRESIDENT, RECOGNISE THOSE WHO STAND WITH YOU

The 2027 election will not be won from Abuja alone.

It will be won through grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria.

Tompolo understands this.

That is why the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is already taking the message of your re-election to Nigerians.

He is working.

He is mobilising.

He is committing resources.

And he is doing so without waiting for anybody to first put something in his hands.

Mr President, my appeal is simple:

Commit more national opportunities and legitimate responsibilities to those who are genuinely working to strengthen your administration's relationship with the people of the Niger Delta.

Tompolo's commitment for your government is unshakable. Tompolo is Tinubu, Tinubu is Tompolo. That's how serious he takes your reelection.

Do not listen to selfish interests who only want to destroy a relationship that can benefit your administration and the Niger Delta. Tompolo is your eye in the Niger Delta. And they know that with Tompolo, the opposition will not have any vote in the Niger Delta. That's why they are doing everything to remove him from the scheme of things. But they will not succeed.

When victory comes in 2027, remember those who stood with you before victory was certain.

Tompolo has chosen to stand with you, and the people of the Niger Delta have chosen to stand with Tompolo because of the good works he's doing for them in your name.

Yours faithfully,

Chief Ebi Nelson
Niger Delta Stakeholder

This man must have been well paid to write this epistle or expecting pay from tompolo himself. How a security outfit owned by one person whom we all know as militant and a sabotauer in the past is charged with protecting pipelines in a country where we have different government security apparatus paid for by the tax payers is really telling. I really pray for the soul of this country if there is any.

This man is a joker. Alliance of obi and himself would have done the magic, but his obsession to rule Nigeria since 1993 won't make him think straight. I would rather have obi my president than Atiku, and that has nothing to do with where he comes from. The level of desperation shows lack of preparedness, and his past record as vice president is not encouraging.

Mr trump talks to much for a sitting president. We have heard this narrative before and yet Iran keeps replying when you attack them. United State under Trump is absymal in her international politics and relations it obvious now the USA is loosing this war which shouldn't have been in the first place if not for machismo and unnecessary show of strength and appealing to the die hard Zionist who wants this war in the first place. Iran is already toast before this war and the economic sanctions is going to collapse their country overtime, but this needless war gave them impetus and gain them some sympathy around vthe world. Am not a fan of Iran internal democracy if applicable but trump has proof overtime that he's a bully and Iran is standing up to him.

“This is what they do, they go to where people are gathered, then they initiate a conversation centered around criticizing the government. Now here is where they strike, they will now end the whole conversation by saying they won’t even stress themselves to go out and vote rather they will just sit at home and chill.
Please this is just a ploy to discourage and dissuade you guys from going out to vote.”

That's pure nonsense. Tinubu won the last election with less than 15million votes, and we have over 150million citizens in this country, so naturally people don't vote here because of different reasons raging from intimidation, vote buying, rigging among many factors.

Why Is the U.S. Building Its Largest Consulate in Nigeria While Tightening Visa Restrictions?
The U.S. is building its largest consulate in the world in Nigeria, at Eko Atlantic, Lagos, on 12.2 acres of land at a cost of over half a billion dollars.

At the same time the U.S is imposing stricter visa restrictions and enforcement measures on Nigerians.

So what exactly is the strategic logic in building the worlds largest consulate in Nigeria while simultaneously trying to reduce the volume of visa and consular services it provides to Nigerians to the barest minimum?

The project is a $537 million, 10-storey complex on 12.2 acres and is intended to become the largest U.S. consulate in the world. Construction was still ongoing in early 2026. Here are photos/renderings of the planned U.S. Consulate General at Eko Atlantic, Lagos

The EFCC illegally freezing Osun state bank account which FG has overturned will give some kind of sympathetic votes for Adeleke because the initial EFCC decision was political
Well I just read on this forum by a legal luminary that EFCC is within it's right to freeze osun state account. Let narrow this down to his developmental projects at Osun state and how his tenure resonates with his people. I wish the Osun the best in this election.
