Makes perfect sense Burna Boy lives in Lekki but Sowore resides safely across the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, USA. Why get jammed up in some political mess and sit in jail or court addressing some stupid case when he could be making his music, collecting big checks, and toasting a different fine babe every night of the week if he wanted to. Remember that big booty chick from the UK that he dumped when he blew up? Many thirsty females in 9ja are a kobo a dozen. He should continue to enjoy his life his way. ![]() |

that's a GREAT number of jobs! ENTERTAINMENT Disney to lay off 28,000 employees as coronavirus slams its theme park business PUBLISHED TUE, SEP 29 20204:45 PM EDT UPDATED 39 MIN AGO Sarah Whitten Prolonged closures at Disney’s California-based theme parks and limited attendance at its open parks has forced the company to lay off 28,000 employees across its parks, experiences and consumer products division. In a letter sent to employees on Tuesday, Josh D’Amaro, head of parks at Disney, detailed several “difficult decisions” the company has had to make in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, including ending its furlough of thousands of employees. Shares of the company fell less than 2% after the closing bell on Tuesday. Around 67% of the 28,000 laid off workers were part-time employees, according to D’Amaro. The company declined to break down the layoffs by individual park locations. While Disney’s theme parks in Florida, Paris, Shanghai, Japan and Hong Kong have been able to reopen with limited capacity, both California Adventure and Disneyland have remained shuttered in Anaheim, California. “As you can imagine, a decision of this magnitude is not easy,” D’Amaro wrote in the letter obtained by CNBC. “For the last several months, our management team has worked tirelessly to avoid having to separate anyone from the company. We’ve cut expenses, suspended capital projects, furloughed our cast members while still paying benefits, and modified our operations to run as efficiently as possible, however, we simply cannot responsibly stay fully staffed while operating at such limited capacity.” The parks, experiences and consumer products segment is a vitally important part of Disney’s business. Last year, it accounted for 37% of the company’s $69.6 billion in total revenue. Read Disney’s memo to employees: Team, I write this note to you today to share some difficult decisions that we have had to make regarding our Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products organization. Let me start with my belief that the heart and soul of our business is and always will be people. Just like all of you, I love what I do. I also love being surrounded by people who think about their roles as more than jobs, but as opportunities to be a part of something special, something different, and something truly magical. Earlier this year, in response to the pandemic, we were forced to close our businesses around the world. Few of us could have imagined how significantly the pandemic would impact us -- both at work and in our daily lives. We initially hoped that this situation would be short-lived, and that we would recover quickly and return to normal. Seven months later, we find that has not been the case. And, as a result, today we are now forced to reduce the size of our team across executive, salaried, and hourly roles. As you can imagine, a decision of this magnitude is not easy. For the last several months, our management team has worked tirelessly to avoid having to separate anyone from the company. We’ve cut expenses, suspended capital projects, furloughed our cast members while still paying benefits, and modified our operations to run as efficiently as possible, however, we simply cannot responsibly stay fully staffed while operating at such limited capacity. As heartbreaking as it is to take this action, this is the only feasible option we have in light of the prolonged impact of COVID-19 on our business, including limited capacity due to physical distancing requirements and the continued uncertainty regarding the duration of the pandemic. Thank you for your dedication, patience and understanding during these difficult times. I know that these changes will be challenging. It will take time for all of us to process this information and its impact. We will be scheduling appointments with our affected salaried and non-union hourly employees over the next few days. Additionally, today we will begin the process of discussing next steps with unions. We encourage you to visit The Hub or the WDI Homepage for any support you may need. For those who will be affected by this decision, I want to thank you for all that you have done for our company and our guests. While we don’t know when the pandemic will be behind us, we are confident in our resilience, and hope to welcome back Cast Members and employees when we can. Most sincerely, Josh D’Amaro Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/29/disney-to-layoff-28000-employees-as-coronavirus-slams-theme-park-business.html

sexylassie2:Yes, my Nubian Queen I agree with you. Capitalism is a great economic model for delivering wealth to a few ppl and those wise enough to save for the future during up cycles in the economy. The problem is greed takes over the human soul in most cases. Toady the ratio of worker pay to executive compensation is off the charts. The genesis of American wealth was built on centuries of free labor (slavery) from our ancestors. Capitalism is all about exploiting the working class that in many cases rather emulate the rich by splurging on designer clothes, new autos, the latest gadgets and exotic vacations instead of saving and investing for the future. I posted a story in the thread about American baby boomers having to work past their retirement age. You can bet many of dem were living it up on cruise ships and in casinos during their prime income making years. As far as socialism, read up on the Great Depression after the stock market crash of 1929. President Franklin D. Roosevelt had to institute the New Deal to get the US and global economy going again. The New Deal was a socialism program. His predecessor was Republican Herbert Hoover. Think about the good economy Bill Clinton left George W. Bush and how he screwed it up. Think about the monumental mess Obama/Biden had to come in and clean up after the Bush subprime mortgage crisis . Even Trump had a version of the New Deal this year with his signing of the $2 trillion coronavirus bailout and was abused by many companies. Also think about all the Naija oil wealth that has been squandered and hidden off shore in secret accounts for decades while Nigerians today suffer to buy a bag of rice or fill their cans of petrol for their generators. Imagine former VP Atiku just returned from Dubai after spending time in his luxury penthouse for the better part of the year. Think about the discrepancy of the wealth of the female Nollywood slay queens compared to there male counterparts. I say all that to say this, western capitalism is not fair and equitable. One must be very sharp to enjoy the fruits of capitalism and not be a used up victim of the system. Good luck and peace, Z.O. |

I don't remember his military corruption fighting history. I would have to crack open some history books or watch some old newsreels. He and EFCC Chairman Magu did a super great job during his first term. AGF Malami and the elite looters gained strength and ruined his corruption fighting legacy here in his second term. He tried oo but is paper tiger status now. Imagine Kalu and Fayose walking around free and chest beating. And speaking of beating, former aviation minister FFK is free to go marry and another woman and reign hellfire on her. These negative forces are just too much for one man to handle. Don the Con. ![]() Trump said he would bring jobs back to Ohio’s manufacturing workers. Instead, he deserted them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trump-said-he-would-bring-jobs-back-to-ohios-manufacturing-workers-instead-he-deserted-them/2020/09/28/d494a408-01bf-11eb-897d-3a6201d6643f_story.html Opinion by Catherine Rampell Columnist September 28, 2020 at 6:05 p.m. EDT When President Trump steps on the debate stage Tuesday night in Ohio, no doubt he will claim the Buckeye State as his turf — living proof of his economic prowess, his ability to deliver an American manufacturing renaissance. “It’s incredible what’s happened to the area,” he said Monday, in remarks at the White House previewing his talking points about supposedly resuscitated Ohio factories. “It’s booming now.” It’s a lie. Not only because the poorly managed pandemic recession has destroyed 720,000 manufacturing jobs on net nationwide, including 38,000 in Ohio alone. Also because even before covid-19 broke out, Trump had deserted Ohio's manufacturing workers. Just ask the laid-off workers themselves whether they agree that their fates represent, in Vice President Pence's terms, "promises made, promises kept." What to know about the 2020 presidential debates “They’ve betrayed the American worker, they’ve betrayed all those people who voted for them and supported them,” says Dave Green, the former president of the UAW Local 1112, which represented workers at a now-defunct General Motors plant in Lordstown, about an hour away from the presidential debate stage. AD In 2017, Trump held a nearby rally at which he told locals, “Don’t move, don’t sell your house,” because “we’re going to get those jobs coming back.” At that point, the GM plant, the area’s largest employer, had already ended its third (overnight) shift, an ominous sign. About a year later, the company cut its second shift the same week it announced it would build its new Chevrolet Blazer in Mexico — that is, exactly the kind of offshoring Trump promised to prevent. Finally, in November 2018, the company announced it would soon entirely halt production of the Lordstown-built Cruze and place the Ohio plant on “unallocated” status. Last year, the factory was shuttered. Some workers, such as Chuckie Denison, retired once they saw the writing on the wall: He’s now selling the house Trump once assured him he shouldn’t leave. (Denison, like Green, volunteers with Our Revolution, a progressive political organization that is seeking to flip blue again districts that went for Trump in 2016 but had previously voted for Barack Obama, partly by talking about Trump’s record on manufacturing jobs.) Others, including Green, were loath to relinquish their middle-class wages and benefits, and so reluctantly accepted transfers to other U.S. plants, some far from their families. AD “I didn’t want to quit because I didn’t want to ruin my kids’ lives,” says Matt Moorhead, who had once been the union local’s sergeant-at-arms. Moorhead’s son needed college tuition, his daughter was still in high school, and his wife’s job wasn’t movable. So he decided the best option was to leave his family in Ohio and accept a transfer to Lansing, Mich., where he would retain his $33-per-hour wage plus benefits. But the arrangement — requiring an eight-hour round-trip drive each week and a separate apartment — proved exhausting and unsustainable. “I wasn’t okay with being away from my family. I wasn’t okay with seeing my wife cry every Sunday when I pulled out of the driveway,” he told me. He resigned after less than a year, cashing out his 401(k) to fund his son’s tuition. Today, he works at an Ohio golf course for about $10 an hour. As for that rising tide that he was told would lift all boats, he says: “There’s no tide. There’s the people who have stilts, and there’s the rest of us bouncing around, drowning.” AD Given the many stories like Moorhead’s — and similar ones from thousands of truckers, auto parts workers and others laid off when the GM factory closed — why on earth would Trump take a victory lap? As his recently leaked tax returns show, he’s better at marketing his business acumen than exercising it. Particularly on behalf of workers. Sign up for The Odds newsletter for election updates from data columnist David Byler Not long after GM officially closed the Lordstown plant, Trump announced (via Twitter, naturally) that the company would sell the facility to an electric vehicle start-up. Ergo, in Trump’s telling: jobs saved, promises kept, economic miracles achieved. Except the deal, such as it was, left much to be desired from workers’ perspectives. GM lent the startup newly created just for this transaction, Lordstown Motors, $40 million to buy and retool GM’s own idled factory. GM also invested $75 million in Lordstown Motors and will supply it with GM components — raising suspicions that this “new” company was merely an excuse to push out thousands of senior, unionized GM workers. And while the new firm recently unveiled a prototype for its first electric truck — the occasion for Trump’s self-back-patting comments on Monday — production won’t begin for another year.

Bluebyrd:I like history and results. Today China has a unique mixed socialist/communist/capitalist political and economic model that is outperforming western colonial nations. Now u see why some ppl in this thread call posters like yourself coons and a** lickers? http://origins.osu.edu/article/new-world-order-africa-and-china China declared its intent to help liberation fighters throughout the world, and this became the hallmark of China’s Africa policy from the 1950s to the end of the Cold War in 1990. During this period, China offered military intelligence, weapons, and training to freedom fighters in Algeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, and Namibia. Even the African National Congress and the Pan African Congress of South Africa received some support in their struggles against apartheid South Africa. This policy appealed to many young African nationalists, including Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Jamal Abdul Nasser of Egypt, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, and King Hasan of Morocco. Africa became a Cold War zone where China, the Soviet Union and the United States collided. The Congo Crises of 1961-1965 set the stage for Cold War politics in Africa and provide some clue to China’s interest in Africa during the first decade of independence. Seeking for ways to compete with the superpowers for control over Congo’s copper resources crucial for military and civilian hardware, Mao Tse Tung remarked in 1964, “If we obtain Congo, we have obtained Africa. Congo is our passageway into Africa.” China’s intention to help free Africa from the claws of colonialism was indisputable. For example, Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, often considered the father of African liberation, invited Chinese military advisors to train freedom fighters from all corners of the continent between 1957 and his overthrow in 1966. Beijing also helped Ghana to secretly establish the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, which was dismantled in 1966. https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/4797485.Mao_Zedong “...the evil system of colonialism and imperialism arose and throve with the enslavement of Negroes and the trade in Negroes, and it will surely come to its end with the complete emancipation of the Black people.” ― Mao Zedong “The struggle of the Black people in the United States for emancipation is a component part of the general struggle of al the people of the world against U.S. imperialism, a component part of the contemporary world revolution. I call on the workers, peasants, and revolutionary intellectuals of all countries and all who are willing to fight against U.S. imperialism to take action and extend strong support to the struggle of the Black people in the United States! People of the whole world, unite still more closely and launch a sustained and vigorous offensive against our common enemy, U.S. imperialism, and its accomplices! It can be said with certainty that the complete collapse of colonialism, imperialism, and all systems of exploitation, and the complete emancipation of all the oppressed peoples and nations of the world are not far off.” ― Mao Zedong https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/works/red-book/ch06.htm Imperialism will not last long because it always does evil things. It persists in grooming and supporting reactionaries in all countries who are against the people, it has forcibly seized many colonies and semi-colonies and many military bases, and it threatens the peace with atomic war. Thus, forced by imperialism to do so, more than 90 per cent of the people of the world are rising or will rise in struggle against it. Yet, imperialism is still alive, still running amuck in Asia, Africa and Latin America. In the West imperialism is still oppressing the people at home. This situation must change. It is the task of the people of the whole world to put an end to the aggression and oppression perpetrated by imperialism, and chiefly by U.S. imperialism. https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Mao_Zedong#1960s Racial discrimination in the United States is a product of the colonialist and imperialist system. The contradiction between the Black masses in the United States and the U.S. ruling circles is a class contradiction. Only by overthrowing the reactionary rule of the U.S. monopoly capitalist class and destroying the colonialist and imperialist system can the Black people in the United States win complete emancipation. The Black masses and the masses of white working people in the United States have common interests and common objectives to struggle for. Therefore, the Afro-American struggle is winning sympathy and support from increasing numbers of white working people and progressives in the United States. The struggle of the Black people in the United States is bound to merge with the American workers’ movement, and this will eventually end the criminal rule of the U.S. monopoly capitalist class. “A New Storm Against Imperialism” (1968)
