What is wrong with men these days? How would you allow a woman set terms for you? Anyway, you should set the same conditions for her. If she accepts it, only then, should you accept hers. It's should be mutual, not this one sided crap |
He is meant to resign his seat all together. The condition prescribed by the constitution for a lawmaker who defects to retain his seat is that there must have been a serious division in his former party such to the extent that its national structure is not functional |
The constitution does not restrict eligibility to run for a legislative seat to only indigenes of that district/constituency. So he's qualified to run |
Your marital affairs is nobody's business, ideally. Only Nigerians with nothing to do, keep interfering |
Ehh This guy is young oo. That's a plus. On another, make Tinubu well-done oo. Keep appointing your Yoruba kinsmen. Oloyede, replaced with another Yoruba man. |
Never knew condoms were pharmaceutical products This report is all too comical. The potential fallout envisaged are a stretch |
Since when do ex convicts become eligible to contest for political office? |
naptu2:I saw an interview he did. He is asked a question and he begins his response by saying "when I win..." It's not surprising he's been choosing by consensus. He legit knows he'd win |
franchasofficia:America does all this at a cost. You think to undertake all these endeavours because they genuinely have "charitable" inclinations? From their perspective, it's all an investment establishing an exploitative arrangement in their favour. |
saintkel:This is just one allegation of forgery. The relevant question everyone should ask is, how much more of this occured during the Buhari years? It's even a weak arguement for even Emefiele to say his signature was forged because naturally, it's impossible for that amount of money to have been released from the CBN without him or the president or SGF to not have as much as an inkling. I suspect the swap of financial malfeasance was deep. |
This is the first time I'm learning the FG pays foreign election observers. Sure, that was the excuse they used to facilitate the release of the said funds and it was successful, which means it's not a novel practice |
dre11:Unfortunately, despite all this, he (and APC in general ) would likely win the elections comfortably. Someone like Tinubu, for instance, already won re-election comfortably on May 29, 2023. He has laid the perfect groundworks to secure his return and the electoral successes of most the APC political candidates . To knock him out, something extraordinarily strategic has to be done |
This one has seen the writing on the wall. The FCT election is just a trailer for the general elections |
How is this news, for goodness sake? What next will you make a "news story" out of? Dino eats two wraps of fufu? Or that Dangote wears gstrings? |
Tinubu's effort to ensure fiscal autonomy for LGs would go down in history as one of the best things that defined his administration. However, under what law or constitutional provision would Tinubu issue an executive order compelling state governors to make direct remittance of LGs? You don't issue executive orders without an enabling law empowering same. You see, it's all talk right now. The only way out is constitutional amendment. The joint account created under S162(5) needs to be deleted. The Supreme Court judgement contained mere declarations. What that means is, where Governors violate the arrangement declared by the Supreme Court, LGs can go to court and they'd get judgement in their favour. This is one of two succour they have. It is why all these governors are buying their silence and acquiescence by gifting them official vehicles. We'd give you goody goodies and in exchange don't go to court after we hijack your funds. The second relief is more straightforward. Part of the declarations the Supreme Court made was that the FG may bypass the joint account and remit directly to LGs where there is persistent hijacking by the state governments. Tinubu doesn't need executive order. He can go this route and put an end to this sabotage |
Nigeriakan:A congressman is the equivalent of a member of a House of Representatives here. Those people no rate us at all But it shouldn't be surprising. We have an unserious federal government so they'd equally regard us as lightweights |
Dogalmighty17:Trump couldn't lift a finger no matter what happens. Even the said invasion of Venezuela is all talk. There's no recognized international law that backs the action of all of Trump's threats. Come to think of it, Trump rode on the crest of an ISOLATIONIST FOREIGN POLICY to win the White House both times. What he's threatening runs directly contrary to what he basically has been advocating for. Even his supporters have begun to alienate themselves due to all this persistent talk about invading a foreign country |
Iamzik:Neither of them were generally strong candidates. Hilary was even much of a tougher cookie than Kamala, who was a lightweight. I bet even Trump acknowledges Hilary was a much more credible opponent than Kamala. Kamala was running against Donald freaking TRUMP. At that point (ie 2024), the dude was already immune to the constant regular streams of attacks that had been thrown him since 2015 when he came into the political arena. Most people were willing to hold their nose and vote for Trump because Kamala wasn't presenting herself to be a significantly better alternative. For instance, the way she speaks in word salads was a constant point of attack against her. Ironically, Trump also has that weird rambling trait, where he just goes off topic and spew so many horseshit. Hardly would you find any of Trump's rallies where he gives strictly policy speeches. But guess what? Most people didn't apply the same intensity in their criticism because they've been seeing that 'brand' for over a decade. They were not surprised. It was fatal misfiring for Democrats to center their attacks on the same set of scaremongering, rage baiting talking points, in addition to the fact that their nominee was just meh. You don't run a nominee of that quality against a Donald Trump |
God1000:No state in the US has elected a black female governor |
DyshApp:Horseshit. In my experience, and I'm sure in the experiences of most men, being nice to women only begets misunderstanding. Most regard your niceness as an attempt to sleep with them |

Vance is slated to attend the G20 in stead of Trump. If Tinubu would attend the summit, it means there's still some credibility to that initial report about Tinubu meeting with JD Vance. Personally, I like the fact that the US is putting the frighteners on the Tinubu administration. The fact that they are so riled up and are desperate to have talks with The White House is definitely a something to take pleasure in. Nigerians have been crying out for military intervention from the FG over the persistent terrorist and banditry attacks. It has all been crickets from the FG. All it took is for the US president to lord his country's might before the FG could get its act together. On the other hand, I doubt Trump would actually carry on with the 'invasion' regardless of how tough he sounds. Trump rode on the principle of isolationism to get elected. What he's threatening runs against that principle. So he might as well just be blowing hot air. |
Nigeria's journalism is no more than rage baiting. It was too good to be true that Tinubu would be going on an official visit to the US only to meet with the US Vice President and not the president himself |
SisterAnn:I didn't mention anybody's name ooh 😂😂 But I remember a certain governor who changed his reelection campaign strategy to include going to naming ceremonies, wedding parties, etc because the presidential candidate running on his party's platform had been defeated in that state, which coincidentally happened to be his home state. |
All US elections are conducted on the same day. I see no reason the same can't happen here. The only reason most would be opposed to this is because of the possibility of upset victories that tend to occur a lot when you conduct down ballot elections simultaneously with higher races. The popularity of candidates running for higher offices tend to push candidates contesting for lower offices across the finish line. Imagine if the 2023 elections were all conducted in February. The outcome for most elections, especially governorships, would have likely been different than what it eventually was |
Which Supreme Court judgement is that? |
ajalawole:Governors can only request assistance of troops presence from the FG. A Governor cannot just stand up one day and be issuing directives to military units positioned in his state. Governors lack that power. For this Kwara State, it may be possible that the governor is making efforts to seek assistance, but the problem is coming from the FG. I once heard that the FG said there's not enough soldiers to deploy |
nedu666:They don't even have exclusive power over policing, let alone the army. This institutional centralisation of power in the FG is big part of the problem |
This advice is only valid and should be taken so long as it applies both ways. In other words, if your male or female suitor insults you, then don't marry them. Anything other than that is a one-sided take and should be discarded with |
dederocs:The victims are "only Yorubas", yet most of the attacks have been carried out in communities in Kwara North. Go and get that sense you want me to find and give it to yourself. Bandits are unrelentlessly terrorizing both Yoruba and non-Yoruba communities. Period. Stop all these Fulani agenda conspiracies |
HydraFeeds:It is obvious, even from this writeup, that you're the empty-headed one and need to get "updated". This is not a discussion of which ethnicity dominates Kwara or whatever nonsense deflective statements you made up there. If you, yes you, are "updated" about current events and not neck deep into your ethnic conspiracies, you'd easily recognise that both Kwara North and Kwara South have been consistently under heavy attacks in recent times |
HydraFeeds:You are the joke here. The community that was attacked here is not a Yoruba-speaking community |

But it shouldn't be surprising. We have an unserious federal government so they'd equally regard us as lightweights
