What's more important is why we nigerians are literally acting like apes whenever we see a white person. Example? This thread.
We only act like apes when we see White women. Why are you so jealous of this pretty lady tpiah? Is it because her life is on the upswing and yours is just, erm . . . dicckensonian-less? |
From this thread, one can safely deduce many nlers have never met a white person who can speak a nigerian language. This is why it's important to go to a good school in nigeria, because foreign exchange students arent a rarity in some, and we should be beyond this level of staring with mouths agape like street hawkers, anytime we see white people. Very embarassing but quite understandable given the high level of poverty in nigeria.
So you attended Aunty Adunni primary school? Congrats! Well, at my Abule muwonleru and Iya Sadia secondary school, there were no foreign exchange students. The only thing we 'exchange that is foreign' is yahoo mail. So I am in awe of her white skin and her impeccable manners? So what? The fact is that she is prettier than the prettiest Nigerian girl, and definitely has more manners than most Yoruba girls, including you Tpiah. I like her. I like her White skin. I like her carriage. I like her teeth. I just like everything about her. She is hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. May God bless her. If only God would create more of her, and less of people like Tpiah, Nigeria and the world would be a better place. Tpiah, bad belle aside, would you not do her if you could? |

http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20110518259737 Owners of private Universities in Nigeria are set to approach the National Assembly to amend the Education Trust Fund Act to enable them access ETF funds. This was part of issues deliberated upon at a meeting of all vice-chancellors and registrars of private universities in Nigeria at the auditorium of the National Universities Commission in Abuja, on Tuesday. Our correspondent gathered that the promoters of these universities were considering the option of engaging the services of a consultant to work out modalities on how best to achieve this objective. According to a document titled ‘Private Universities and the Education Trust Fund formula: How far?’ promoters of private universities noted that “as at March 08, 2011, there were 45 private universities in the country, and there is evidence that the percentage of students that gain admission into tertiary institutions has increased significantly as a result of increase in the number of private universities.” The document added, “The need to extend the operations of ETF to private universities therefore, has become more conspicuous and should not be ignored more so when there is no categorisation on the distribution of the fund at Federal, State and Local Government levels as it relates to public and private operators.” The document observed that the money accruable to the ETF was growing at a rate of almost six per cent annually while the private universities were left out of the sharing. The body said, “If the argument of raising the standard of education in the country is sustained in favour of the establishment of private universities, then it can easily be seen that private varsities not benefiting from ETF is misnomer. “Any private university that has less than 4,000 students in Nigeria today must be battling hard to pay salaries from meager income from school fees and the proprietors. “As an Interventionist Agency, ETF is supposed to rescue the entire education sector in the country from collapse. “It is therefore wrong to assume that private universities do not deserve any rescue from imminent collapse.” Earlier Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission Prof. Julius Okojie, said funding remained a major challenge for the education sector, private universities inclusive. He noted that most universities today were grappling with the problems of standards and urged all universities, irrespective of their ownership, status to improve. Okojie urged private universities to adhere strictly to best practices especially in the areas of admission and grading students. The Chairman of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Private Universities, Prof. Timothy Olagbemiro, said the stakeholders forum was the first of its kind since private universities were established in 1999. He appealed to participants to use the platform to advance the course of the education secto |

LONDON -- Famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking finds no room for heaven in his vision of the cosmos. In an interview published Monday in The Guardian newspaper, the 69-year-old says the human brain is a like a computer that will stop working when its components fail. He says: "There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark." In "Grand Design," a book published last year, Hawking had declared that it was "not necessary to invoke God , to get the universe going." Hawking is nearly totally paralyzed by motor neurone disease, diagnosed when he was 21. Hawking says he is not afraid of death, but adds: "I'm in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/16/stephen-hawking-heaven-is-a-myth_n_862394.html |

Strauss-Kahn arrest: IMF head detained at Rikers Island Strauss-Kahn's offer of a $1m bail bond was turned down Continue reading the main story Related Stories A different stage for Strauss-Kahn In pictures: Dominique Strauss-Kahn in court French politics turns upside down IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been remanded in custody at New York's notorious Rikers Island jail on charges of sexual assault. The judge said Mr Strauss-Kahn, 62, was a flight risk. He was arrested on Saturday after boarding a plane and accused of trying to violation a hotel maid. He faces seven charges and could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison. Mr Strauss-Kahn, who had been seen as a favourite in France's 2012 presidential elections, denies the charges. His lawyer expressed disappointment at bail being denied, but said his client would be exonerated. "This battle has just begun," defence lawyer Benjamin Brafman told the court. Mr Strauss-Kahn had been due to attend an EU finance ministers' meeting in Brussels to discuss financial bail-outs. The IMF has played a central role in organising rescue packages for the troubled economies of Portugal and Greece. Click to play Defence lawyer Benjamin Brafman spoke after the hearing The BBC's Chris Morris in Brussels says the IMF chief has gained the trust of countries in Europe which are giving financial assistance, and those which are receiving it. The European Union says the scandal should not affect bail-outs for eurozone countries. Bail offer denied Jean-Claude Junker, the Luxembourg prime minister said: "I am very sad and upset. He is a friend of mine, Mr Strauss-Kahn is in the hands of American justice, it's not up to us to comment on this, but it makes me deeply, deeply sad." French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde described Mr Strauss-Kahn's predicament was "crushing and painful". Continue reading the main story Analysis Tom Burridge BBC News Dominique Strauss-Khan is no ordinary inmate at Rikers Island. The jail, situated on the edge of New York City is home to gang-members and criminals, convicted of some of the most serious crimes. It's been the scene of movies and TV crime dramas. The head of the IMF will be held on his own, and guards will watch over him 24 hours a day, for his own security. Low-risk offenders in the jail normally share cells with dozens of other inmates. We understand the routine and conditions of Mr Strauss-Kahn to be just like anyone else. He'll apparently be woken at 0600 every day, with one hour of recreational time. And the food will be a far cry from any Manhatten hotel menu. From penthouse to Rikers The IMF said in a statement that it had been briefed on the charges against its managing director, and that it would "continue to monitor developments". Prosecutors told the court it was not the first time Mr Strauss-Kahn had been involved in such an incident and argued he had been arrested attempting to flee the country. Mr Strauss-Kahn's lawyer Benjamin Brafman contested this, saying the defendant had not tried to flee the scene and was actually rushing for a lunch appointment. He added that Mr Strauss-Kahn later called the hotel to say he was at the airport and had left a mobile phone in his room. However, Judge Melissa Jackson denied the defence's offer to post $1m (£617,000) bail and agreed to Mr Strauss-Kahn staying with his daughter in New York until the next hearing on Friday. "When I hear your client was at JFK airport about to board a flight, that raises some concerns," Ms Jackson said. The charges relate to an alleged assault at the Times Square Sofitel hotel in New York. According to the New York Police Department, a 32-year-old maid told officers that when she entered his suite on Saturday afternoon, Mr Strauss-Kahn emerged from the bathroom unclothed, chased her and sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to break free and alert the authorities, a NYPD spokesman added. Later on Saturday Mr Strauss-Kahn was detained on board an Air France flight at New York's John F Kennedy airport minutes before take-off. The IMF chief underwent medical examinations on Sunday. Police were looking for scratches or any other evidence of his alleged assault. He was later charged with a "criminal sexual act, unlawful imprisonment and attempted violation". Police say the maid formally identified him in a line-up. 'Thunderbolt' Until he was arrested, Mr Strauss-Kahn was considered a favourite to become the Socialist candidate for the French presidency next year. Writer Tristane Banon alleges Mr Strauss-Kahn assaulted her in 2002 Opinion polls gave him a good chance of defeating President Nicolas Sarkozy. Socialist party president Martine Aubry described his arrest as a "thunderbolt" but called for Mr Strauss-Kahn to be presumed innocent. Mr Strauss-Kahn's wife, French TV personality Anne Sinclair, has also protested his innocence. Meanwhile, another allegation against Mr Strauss-Kahn has emerged. A French writer says she may file a complaint for an alleged sexual assault in 2002. Tristane Banon, 31, says Mr Strauss-Kahn tried to violation her when she went to interview him for a book she was writing. "We're planning to make a complaint," Ms Banon's lawyer told AFP news agency. Mr Strauss-Kahn's lawyers have so far not responded to the allegation. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13420440 |

South-South lawmakers may back Muraina for Speaker By Festus Owete and Ini Ekott May 17, 2011 04:33AM print email The battle for the position of the speaker of the House of Representatives intensified yesterday as members from the south-south geo-political zone passively backed the ambition of Oyo State representative, Ajibola Muraina. A member of the south-south caucus and senator-elect, Ita Enang told newsmen yesterday in Abuja that the caucus had no problem with the choice of Mr Muraina. Mr Enang, from Akwa Ibom State, said once the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to which most of them belong, resolves to retain the position in the south-west, the caucus will go along with it. The south-south caucus, according to Mr Enang was of the view that the stability of Nigeria should be uppermost in the minds of political players, particularly members of the House of Representatives, a reason he said members supported the party's position to retain the zoning arrangement as agreed to by the leaders of PDP. He explained that he was particularly interested in the progress of the lower legislative chamber and urged the incoming lawmakers to put national interest before any other thing. The south-west zonal caucus of the PDP reportedly met a few days ago during which it endorsed Mr Muraina's candidature for Speaker. The decision was communicated to President Goodluck Jonathan and the national secretariat of the party. Mr Muraina had jointly addressed some members-elect, mostly first timers to the House, with Vice President Namadi Sambo as both called for a synergy of efforts between the executive arm and the 7th session of the National Assembly which is to be sworn in next month. Against zoning However, some members of the House, including the incoming ones have rejected the retention of the Speakership slot in the south-west, saying that the zone did not support the PDP during the election. Among those opposed to the decision of the national caucus of the PDP to retain the position in the zone are lawmakers from the south-east as well as some of their counterparts from the north-east and north-west zones. Also opposed to the retention is the ACN caucus in the House. Femi Gbajabiamila, the ACN leader in the House, condemned the plan to zone the Speakership slot to the south-west zone, saying it would amount to zoning the exalted position to the only 3 members of the ruling party who got re-elected from the zone. However, a source in the party said yesterday that the opposition of the ACN was premised on the need to wipe out PDP from the south-west zone. The source said, "The opposition is based on the need to wipe out PDP completely from the zone. If allowed to produce the Speaker, whoever occupies the position will be empowering some people in the zone to fight the ACN. This is what they are trying to avoid." http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5701522-146/story.csp |
