Just got into Dubai #chilling in a business lounge a swear I must be rich. A lot of rich people around grumbling about the economy , I just look them like fetty WAP. Anyways if you need dollars you can always exchange it at Travelexx at your airlines hub. I just withdrew $500 at #330 to a dollar. If you want to extract maximum value withdraw dirham from an ATM and convert over the counter. I got an extra $39 from that which will soon be spent on another expensive meal, I have found out it is to my liking. Next on is POE say a prayer for Gunther and Dicko. I will post transcript #HavaNagila

Hello,
I've been following this thread since, but I only read through..
I had my interview on Saturday 23rd this month but was denied the F1 visa
I was asked;
How are you,
Passed my passport
Passed the I-20
What school? --said
What course? ---said
When did u finish sec school---2014
Who is your sponsor---uncle
--------
Sorry you don't qualify
Why?
The letter will explain
I actually have a scanned copy of the I-20 and not the original, that was what the school's admissions counselor sent to me through email.
When I got to the woman who was to verify my documents, she asked why and I told her- I was nervous tho
NB: I had already signed and dated my I-20 since 12th, cos I had to send it to my uncle to see. She even asked if it was since December
When I got to the consular, I was calm
I passed my passport and just my I-20 and just like that, I was denied

I've been thinking of the possibilities that would have caused it
- I made a mistake on the application;
Forgotten my parents DOB( year actually) wasn't filled
-the person who would pay my trip
I wrote my aunt( as being d relative I have there) instead of my sponsor ( uncle)
I'm confused, thinking of choosing another school or asking for another I-20 changing course but having the original copy
I'm going for business administration, undergraduate.
A community college in US
I'm supposed to resume August 8, I could ask the school to extend my resumption date
Cos I really want to resume school ASAP
Hello,

I am sorry for the denial but I think you have pointed out the mistakes yourself.

*You must go with your Original I-20
*Do not apply to a community college
*Be careful and honest in filling your I-20
*Do not be nervous
*Take up the shield of Confidence

NB- No school will want you to use a scanned copy of your I-20 for your visa processing. I think you may be too "forward" in booking an appointment. It's not bad to be but only when you have all your documents intact. I guess it was sent to you so as to know it's content especially to use the Servis ID on it for servis payment.

I am deeply sorry for the denial and do hope you will make necessary corrections to avoid any disappointment in the near future.

Best!!!

So Aviation fuel wahala come follow, my flight was supposed to leave at 11:45, but they said there was no Aviation fuel in Abuja. And they cancelled our flight, and rebooked us on a smaller airplane that was to leave at 1:30pm. With an additional stopover at Niamey just to refuel. Long story short. I arrived Istanbul at 11am this morning. Waiting for my connection at 5pm

VO: Good morning, oh you are married?
Me: Good morning, Yes we are

Me: No, it's a prospective employer
VO: So tell me about this Company
Me: Bla..Bla..Bla.. I told her about the coy, why they are sponsoring me and the agreement we had...
VO: How big is this Coy?
Me: I explained to the VO plus the fact that the Coy is even registered in the U.S
VO: Can I see any letter from the Coy?
Me: Yes, please... I showed her a letter from the Coy
VO: So when did you get married?
Me: We got married on 13 December 2014
VO: How many children do you have now?
Me: None yet
VO: Turns to my spouse, and asked what do you do presently?
Spouse: I'm a homemaker
VO: Oh I see, you sit at home

Me: Sure, I gave her
VO: Flipped through the pages and asked, what were you going to do in those countries?
Me: I consulted for companies that had business interest in those countries
VO: Okay, returns my old passport and kept typing for about maybe 40 seconds, then said your Visas have been approved...you will need these documents at the POE and make sure you have them with you when you travel. Please pick up your passport on Wednesday. Good luck!
Me: Thank you.

My take on this process:
1. For me, God was the front-man in all my preparations... I trusted Him for favor and grace; and He proved faithful. I prayed earnestly and kept faith. So I found uncommon confidence and comportment. My thought and speech during the interview was with precision and clarity.

2. You have to be thoroughly prepared. I can't recount the sacrifices of time and finances that went into my preparation.

3. There is no need for desperation. I started my journey in 2013 if you care to know... Anything worth doing is worth doing well...be patient with your self and be assured that your best has been put into it. Then, keep trusting in God!

4. NairaLand is One-stop shop for any information required for a successful application & interview; to say the truth, I became addicted to NL... I reviewed and analysed almost every transcript shared on this platform. May God bless You guys and make our journey a most rewarding one!
Congratulations. I can imagine how clear it was indeed!!!

I want to beg all the guru's in this thread that I will appreciate any of you that will act as my VO and review all the answers to any question asked.

**Please, I want to know if admission letter is sent along with I-20 or supposed to be printed from the International admission officer's correspondence email to the applicant?
Hello,

It depends on the school and your plan with them. I want you to know that issue of admission letters and I-20 can be very flexible. It is possible for a school to have the admission letter sent to you via postage just as the I-20 at the same time or at different time period because you are dealing with two different offices (admissions/dean's office and international centre).

It is not impossible for the school to scan the admission letter to your email while you append your signature then send a copy back to them and that will be all (quite easy right?). No matter how easy it can be though, I-20 must be sent via postage.

It may be a good idea to ask this question from the international office and possibly tell them to include your admission letter with your I-20 if it's not possible for the admission letter to be scanned.

In my case, you can imagine the extent of flexibilities I am talking about where I received the admission letter from my email and the I-20 was brought to Nigeria through my supervisor coming for research.

I hope this helps. Have a great day!!!

Hello,

I noticed you are confident enough but the responses might not be good enough. I can also deduce that you are going for your undergraduate (please correct me) and you probably did not check transcripts from this forum early enough however I think you have a good chance next time.

On international student's package-i am hearing that for the first time and if thats the reason for choosing your school then we have schools that can offer similar or better "package". Such response may notbe convincing enough- you should try to mention some important things here like the course, your interests in relation to your department, faculty members as well as current and past students.

You are also expected to know the website of your workplace not just because your uncle owns it but you also learned something about Web design.

About your "accent". That is the main reason you were declined. Rule number one-never make anyone feel you are not proud of who you are- your accent is your accent and you must accept this if you don't (as you showed), that means you are trying to distant yourself from your origin and by inference, you do not intend to associate with your home country hence 214B.

All the best next time.

GPA: 3.61/4.00
GRE: 291.
School: Kean Uni, NJ
Course: Computer Information Systems (Ms)
So, I woke up by 3am, prayed to God and started preparing for my interview at 9:30. My dad was going towards Lekki so he dropped me @ the embassy, saw those sharp embassy guys @ the entrance, trying to break the windscreen in other to get me to snap passport or staple my passport on my docs. I totally ignored the guys like plague and chilled till it was time to call the 9:30 appointment time crew. Along the line, I was sent back to go drop my flashdrive, which I didn't know was on me. Went back and threw the flash somewhere and rejoined the queue. Got in, passed all the screening exercise and was on interview queue. Actually, I wasn't praying for any window, but the VO in window 9 was just sharing blue paper like gifts. I kept my chill. Finally, I heard next and went straight to window 4. The following conversations occured.

VO: hello gud morning
Me: good morning ma (I tried to smile but my cheeks didn't allow me, maybe I was scared or something)
Vo: pass me your ds160, passport, i20 and sevis, (passed all). *kept calm*
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: to have my masters degree in Computer Information systems at kean uni, NJ
Vo: why kean?
Me: kean is one of the best public schools in the US, they have gud research facilities and also I got a GA position where I will be working with Prof. James Collins on his research on cyber security
Vo: how did you find out about the school?
Me: I made my research based on cybersecurity, using google, usnesw.com and gradcafe.com
Vo: who is paying for this?
Me: I got a GA position and my aunt will be paying the rest.
(na so another round of drilling started)
Vo: did you write any standardized exams?
Me: yes, I wrote GRE, had 151quant, 140verbal and 3'.5 anw (vo stops typing and was just looking at me, I tried to smile again, but my cheeks just stand still)
Vo: why did you think you got the GA?
Me: I guess the school was impressed with the quality of application materials I submitted. The minimum requirement for GA position is GPA 3.25 while I had 3.61.
Vo: what did you have in your bsc?
Me: Computer science
Vo: when did you graduate?
Me: 2013
Vo: what have u been ddoing?
Me: I work with The Bells secondary school as a system administrator, my duties are update of schools website, maintenance of computers and management of students exam results using edalaf software
Vo: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3, kean uni, uni of akron, ohio and university of ibadan nigeria.
Vo: why kean? (again? But I don answer dis question before na? I sha talk something again)
Me: because I will be working on a research topic with Professor James Collins and I was also offered a GA
(She was typing and typing and typing for some minutes, I just dey pray for my mind) next thing I heard was "I will be approving your visa". I just went deaf. I didn't hear anything again. I walked out of the hall majestically.

Special thanks to Lagosismyhome( your the real MVP mam, God bless you, I will make sure my kids appreciate you too, stay blessed) , Walspring, imperiouxx, texrem, Oludare1, dickoflife, Ashbammy(my NJ partner), slimmy2005( even with all d abuse wey u abuse me, I still love you), femi234, gunther6 et Al. Hi Segun,

In addition to the responses given by Gunter and Oludarey, I will like to add that your responses may be too abrupt.

Why MC and not journalism is the same as 1. Why MC? 2. Why not journalism?

Now you have been given the opportunity to play some stunts around your passion and it's your own duty to make sense of it. Simply discuss the reason why you choose MC inlieu of journalism. NB: Journalism is not just about news and that means you must be well grounded in the Discipline and it's neighbors.

Kenniez is my name
Profile-civil and environmental engineering university of Lagos. IELTS of 6, preparing for GRE I also have a certificate of English as a medium from the University of Lagos certified that my Bachelor of science was conducted in English language.
I applied to southern Illinois university edwardville with 30 dollars for MSc Civil engineering. The application was for spring semester. I applied without GRE and without TOEFL or IELTS but I submitted my English as a medium. Also I submitted my financial statement. All documents I submitted was unofficial meaning I emailed all the documents to the graduate studies email address and reduce my expenses to the nearest minimum because I do not send those documents via Dhl or FedEx at the point of applications.
I got my I-20 sent to me via Dhl for free.the process was so fast. I decided to share this because it might be of help to prospective students in Civil engineering interested in southern Illinois university edwardville.
As elders in this forum have always said GRE is important most especially it might Forster the chance of someone during visa interview.it is bêtter it is being done. Also there are graduate assistantship in the University and in the department that require GRE results.
I hope this help.
Thank you for posting this important information.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

No apology if you're offended

I don't wanna talk much cos I might misyarn
Life is so easy when we do things the right way.
If you don't want anybody to learn from your transcript, why go through the stress of typing sh*t.
In fact, nobody is interested, just remain a silent follower.

All I know is that posterity will not forgive such people.
Information is power, information is key.
I got the contact of a NL in my school through his transcript and he's really been of help.
If he had posted bleep, would I have been able to touch base with himhuh
Let's grow up abeg, enough of naija mentality
I was wondering so much about the bleep of a thing. It's not too good, why?

*Here is a forum where we have like minds to learn from one another as no one is an island of knowledge.
*using bleep for your course and school in a transcript to me can not help anyone on this forum yet you claim to appreciate those who helped you-seriously if I helped you, and you are appreciating me with a transcript full of bleeps-am sorry I don't understand your transcript.
*why don't I understand the transcript? Because I already know that confidence is key, smiling is important, the only thing I need to know is your prowess and I can only know this when I add confidence, a smiling face, prayer with the "you" that I do not know (and that's what you think it's personal, but that's the main content of your interview and that is no bleeping).
*over the years, we haven't heard on this forum that someone got His Visa revoked because he published the school's name and course.
*I wouldn't want to blame the person, it's an average Nigerian's mentality that must be eradicated. Your course and school is nothing private.
*lastly, not disclosing these details does not affect me, it affects those yet to gain admission to any school, those yet to go for interview and those in the near future also yearning for a better tomorrow.

Thanks

vo: she passed me passport, and blue paper again.... and said sorry u are not eligible for visa

me: i felt bad! and walked away in shame again......

so painful.... but it is well.
I don't know why I have this deep concern for you, but I think you have to be ready for this interview. First, you should know your research much more than anyone else and with this you can say something about your supervisor. Second, I think whenever you are asked about your research or that of your supervisor, then you have your destiny in your hands because you can boldly lecture the VO with some terminologies He/She does not know-you see? You have the floor!!! That's all you need to show that you are not just eligible to get a visa but to be admitted at a US institution. I always tell people, any question you are asked, just find a way to bring them to your strong point where you can be confident to speak- and that's your career plans and research work. All the best.

OluDare01:
VISA APPROVED TODAY IN LAGOS
Apology please i talk alot.

The journey that started about 18months ago was consolidated today with the approval of my F1 visa.
Got to the embassy by 5:10am and those agents surrounded me but I was just using them to catch fun. Took out time to educate some gullible guys that wanted to fall for their trap.
I was so confident, I think my confidence level was 99.9%.

Well, we passed through all the check-in and some guys were turned back for offences ranging from DS160 barcode to sevis receipt. Some did not even have the right documents.

Fastforward, we got inside and I just dey form oversabi grin dont mind me. The lady was like you folded your i-20 and sevis receipt already cheesy
So after all the initial gragra, I finally joined the queue, was the 10th person.
Turned on the pastor mode, no be small thing o
( praying in the holy ghost)
Three Vos came and interviews started. They were just dishing out denial like gift.
See guys froming fake american accent, no be small thing o
Gbam, so i was interviewed by the lady in window 7, the babe before me was also approved.
My approval was the third
Here is the conversation
Me – Good Morning
VO – Pass me your documents
VO- Why are you going to the US?
Me- I am going to the US to pursue my masters degree in Chemistry with a concentration in analytical and environmental chemistry at Tennesee Tech University, Cookeville.
VO- what do you currently do?
Me- I just concluded my NYSC where i taught chemistry in a secondary scvhool. I also volunteered as a radio presenter
VO- (looks at me for the first time) What will you do after your studies?
Me- Few weeks ago, the FG launched a $10m clean up of oil spill in Ogonni land in the Niger Delta.
I plan to return to Nigeria to help in environmental remediation and fighting environmental pollution,
I will take up lecturing jobs in Nigerian Universities, I wanna be a Prof of Chemistry grin
VO- (looks at me) i will be approving your VISA. Then i became deaf temporarily.
Be confident, I was so confident and eloquent. Didn't do any rehearsal atall, maybe cos I've been reading transcripts here and I did the whole application myself.

Thanks to everyone here, you guys are doing a great job.
