I think Fagie should rest our key players today and leave them 2 play against Chelshit (top of the table). Chicharito should lead the attack and also Young and Smalling should play today since they are back from injury. Chelshit are in great form and we need to put pressure by cutting their points this weekend.. My thought tho |

Just some few days ago, we heard the story of how four University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) students were brutally murdered in Umuokiri village, Aluu, Rivers State. The murdered students, Chiadika Lordson, Ugonna Kelechi Obusor, Mike Lloyd Toku, and Tekena Elkanah, all part two students, were murdered in cold blood over alleged theft of a laptop computer and a blackberry phone. It was a horrible sight for all and those who saw the video took their anger to the online community demanding justice for the Aluu4. The police were quick to arrest the suspects as there was video evidence showing the babaric nature of the youths. Well, the same thing has happened again and this time in the oil city, Warri, Delta state. The man was allegedly to have stolen a neck chain in one of the popular markets and the people who caught him felt the best way to go about the issue was by burning him to death. The faces of the muderers are shown in the video (but Youtube has pulled it down). One thing is common in the two events, 1) They were accused of doing something against the law. 2) They were burnt to death. I know some people would say this is the best way to go about issues like this because of their personal experience with people like this, but then again we are humans and not babaric, besides theres a reason why we have the police and the law. Let us put things in place to stop this from ever happening again. http://m.naij.com/news/11511.html

Justice Theresa Igoche of the Makurdi High Court, on Tuesday sentenced two students, Vershima Kaachi and Akaazua Akpen, to death by firing squad for armed robbery. The convicts were arrested on the eve of Christmas in 2007 for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to Sections 5(b) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990. In his testimony, the victim of the offence, Jonathan Usenge, told the court that five armed men came to his house, attacked and robbed him of some valuable items on that day. He stated that the robbers collected his Nokia 1600 phone valued N12,700.00, two torch lights valued N350.00 and a sum of N16,500. He said the convicts were armed with guns and a hacksaw, and that the clothes they wore on the day of the robbery, his stolen phone and the hacksaw were recovered from them during police investigation. The prosecution called three witnesses while the accused persons testified for themselves and also called three witnesses. In his submission, counsel to the convicts, Mr Cletus Ujah, argued that the prosecuting counsel had not proved the allegation against his clients beyond reasonable doubt. Ujah insisted that the victim was inconsistent in his testimony, arguing that the prosecution's evidence could not be said to be overwhelming to nail his clients. He further argued that the prosecution failed to tender the hacksaw claimed to have been recovered from his clients before the court which, he said, amounted to withholding evidence. But the prosecuting counsel, Mr Obande Idikwu, argued that the prosecution had made a case to warrant the conviction of the accused persons. Idikwu submitted that from the evidence, it could be deduced that there was an agreement to commit an illegal act, which was pursued to a logical conclusion. Delivering judgment, Igoche held that the prosecution had proved its case against the convicts and found them guilty as charged. In an allocutus, Ujah pleaded for leniency for the accused persons, pointing out that they were each the only sons of their parents and young boys with a promising future ahead of them, noting that they had no records of previous conviction and were looking very remorseful, and urged the court to temper justice with mercy. But the judge said the punishment prescribed for offenders under Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act was death by either hanging or firing squad, pointing out that it was subject to the governor's discretion. Since 28 August 2012 when it was reported that Patience, the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan was flown to Germany for the treatment of an undisclosed ailment, the presidency has refused to give the nation a clear picture of what she is suffering from. However, P.M.NEWS authoritatively gathered that Patience is being treated for cancer of the uterus at Horst Schmidt Klinik in Wiesbaden, Germany. Aso Rock's denial of information has only helped to fuel an industry of speculations about the president's wife, especially when she failed to show up with husband when he attended the 67th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States. The online has been abuzz with all sorts of reports. A recent one even claimed that Mrs. Jonathan was being treated for Parkinson disease. Earlier reports had it that Patience was operated upon for ruptured appendicitis at the German hospital. Yet, there was another report that the surgical procedure on Mrs. Jonathan was to remove a potentially cancerous uterine fibroid. There were also speculations that she had travelled to Dubai to have a procedure performed and returned to Nigeria where she developed complications which led to her sudden evacuation to Germany. The cancer of the uterus ailment was shrouded in secrecy all this while by Aso Rock, thus engendering all sorts of speculations about what Patience is really suffering from. The Presidency did not help matters as it refused to come clean on the actual ailment of Patience. All the stories Nigerians are getting from Aso Rock have been a web of lies about the fate of Patience. And this deepened speculations over the nature of sickness the wife of the President is suffering from. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe told State House Correspondents Tuesday when he was asked about the health of Patience that "ordinarily, I do not want to comment on this matter. Nigerians have gone through a lot of trauma in terms of leadership and death and ill luck and all that (in the past). "Gen. Sani Abacha died in the Villa, Obasanjo's wife (Stella) died in the Villa, (President Umaru) Yar'Adua lost his life in the Villa. "I think even if it is a suggestion that the wife of the President is sick, what I will expect Nigerians to feel is empathy, not probing, not questioning (about her health). "Have we become so disenchanted with leadership as to believe that the leadership is inhuman? I believe that the First Lady is hale and hearty. I want to leave it like that." P.M.NEWS learnt that the absence of the First Lady during various activities held to celebrate Nigeria's 52nd independence anniversary sparked fresh anxiety over her fate among her friends, family members and beneficiaries of her various activities. Many of them who thought Mrs. Jonathan will be home for the independence celebrations were disappointed. |

Even though Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reportedly suspended his attempt to probe Kano Emirate Council with the alleged intention of fulfilling his campaign promise of deposing the emir, it is now clear that the feud between him and Alhaji Ado Bayero has deepened rather than abated in recent times. During the campaigns for his re-election last year the governor had used the slogan "SABON SARKI, SABON GWAMNA!" (i.e. "new governor, new emir!" , the import of which he pledged to deliver to the father of one of his commissioners if he won the election.Enquiries by 247ureports.com however revealed that the Kano state House of Assembly Committee on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs which was ordered by the governor to embark on the dangerous mission aimed at gathering information from District Heads to prepare grounds for the probe of the finances of the Emirate Council, has suspended its tour of the 44 LGAs began several weeks ago. Our correspondent gathered that the suspension was probably as a result of the exposure by our exclusive report on the clandestine move to remove the emir published on July 18th, 2012 which reportedly caused dismay in government circles. Our own report was however based on an earlier report aired by the Hausa Service of Radio Germany in which there was an interview with the chairman of the committee, Hon. Alhaji Kabiru Rurum, who confirmed that the government was indeed planning to investigate the Emirate Council. "His Excellency was so angry when he learned about your report that he relapsed into temporary madness, which is his usual behavior when he is angry or 'high', promising to punish any of his aides found to have spoken to the press on the issue," a reliable source said. The report, he added, appeared to have disoriented the governor so much that it was clear to all around him that he was going to engage a reverse gear. However, unaware that Kwankwaso had changed his mind the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) enthusiastically obeyed an old directive by sending a query to the emir recently asking him to render account of how all the monies paid to the Emirate Council in the past nine years were spent. "When the governor discovered that the SSG had sent the query letter without consulting him there was an altercation between the two of them that almost resulted in the latter resigning from his post," the source added. The governor wanted the hostilities between him and the emir to cease because a few weeks earlier, at the end of this year's 30-day Ramadan fast the Emirate Council announced that the emir had suspended the annual colourful durbar undertaken to mark the Sallah festival. Kwankwaso, who read the writing on the wall, was hit hard by the announcement as it was the first time a governor witnessed the total cancellation of the spectacle, including Hawan Nassarawa which entails paying a courtesy call on the governor, since it was began over 100 years ago in honour of the colonial Resident in Kano as the representative of the British monarchy. Many people, like Kwankwaso, also viewed the suspension of the event as part of the feud between him and the emir as the council must have viewed the attempted probe with the seriousness it deserved, knowing that the same enquiry of the finances of the Kano Native Authority (NA), then under the emir, was used in 1963 by the Northern Regional government to depose the 11th emir of Kano, Alhaji (Sir) Muhammadu Sanusi. Profoundly disturbed by the cancellation of the durbar, Kwankwaso was said to have been so ashamed by the turn of events that he could not bear to be in Kano and be the first governor to sit at home and watch a drab Sallah and therefore opted to fly out of town reportedly to Germany where he spent the Sallah holiday. And now 247ureports.com has gathered authoritatively that the emir has politely asked Kwankwaso to remove his picture placed by the side of the governor's on the billboard erected at the Lodge Road/Alu Avenue roundabout in Nassarawa GRA, which is a publicity gimmick by the governor aimed at giving the false impression that all is well between him and the emir. The highly respected Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero, our source further revealed, wanted his picture removed because as a father to all Kano people irrespective of their political leanings his picture should not have been used on a political billboard to campaign for any of the political parties, "as this has never happened before," the source added. However, just before filing in this report our correspondent went to the spot and confirmed that the picture of the emir was yet to be removed from the billboard even though the request was said to have been sent to the government about two weeks ago. All attempts by our correspondent to get the response of the government's spokesmen in order to get their side of the story proved abortive as neither the Commissioner for Information nor the Director of Press picked calls to their cell phones. *And even though we still need independence from our corrupt leaders,we will celebrate. *Even though our nation is 52 today but still has the mental age of a 30 year old,we will celebrate. *Even though our right to pick the kind of leaders we want through casting our votes and making them count has always been denied us,we will celebrate. *Even though it is glaring that the people who should,do not care about us. And even as the gap between the rich and poor keeps widening, with little or nothing done to bridge this gap. Even as majority of us wallow in poverty while a very small percentage live in affluence,we are known for suffering and smiling;we have been dubbed the happiest people on earth with zero tolerance for suicide. So,why wont we celebrate? *Even though people in the corridors of power do next to nothing to put us through,we strive on our own, through our hard work, perseverance and "e go beta" attitude. Yes,we will celebrate! *As topsy-turvy as our nation seems and always seemingly being on the brink of collapsing but not doing so,there are still those of us that,if we had to do it all over again, we will still be Nigerian. If that isn't enough reason to celebrate,I wonder what is. *With over 200 languages and cultures,we still manage to live amicably albeit the occasional crises here and there. And even though sometimes our different modes of worship makes us disagree, these same differences are what brings us closer. And this is why we must celebrate: our unity in diversity, our resilience, hardwork and togetherness as a people. Happy Independence fellow Nigerian! |

We Nigerians and our leaders are behaving as if we never had a First Lady. If successive Nigerian leaders have been breaking the law by running their wives' offices with public funds that were not provided for in the Constitution, then the affairs of their wives cannot be treated as the private affairs of the presidents; they have become public property. So, why would President Jonathan be pretending that the fate and welfare of Dame Patience Jonathan is his private affair and that the nation is not entitled to know her state and whereabouts? For the very last time, President Jonathan, where is our First Lady? |

The Brazilian National Bishops Confederation (CNBB) has criticised Placar magazine for bearing a photograph of Neymar being crucified in the same way as Jesus Christ. Placar, which has become one of the most successful sports publications in Brazil since its inception in 1970, were using the picture as a metaphor to highlight the criticism the star had been coming under for supposedly diving too often. In a letter, signed by CNBB president Cardinal Raymundo Damasceno Assis and general secretary Dom Leonardo Ulrich Steiner and posted on the organisation's website, the publication came under fire for "showing disdain towards people's feelings". "The Brazilian National Bishops Confederation states that it feels severely outraged with the [photo] montage that is is the cover of a sports magazine, where the image of Jesus Christ is seen with the face of a football player," read the statement. "We acknowledge freedom of speech as a fundamental principle of our state and [see it as necessary for] democratic co-existence, however, there are known limits for such. "To ridiculise faith and show disdain towards peoples' religious feelings by using the disrespectful use of the image of Jesus suggests manipulation and use of editorial resources as a means for commercial ends. "The magazine has shown itself as being insensitive to the recent context of deplorable violence caused by the inadequate use of religious images and, with that, has made a bad contribution towards a consolidation of respectful co-existence between different beliefs. "This [photo] montage uses the image of Jesus in an explicit manner, even if the magazine director denied this evident fact. "This is a clear lack of respect that offends the most sacred image for Christians and updates, in a hazardous manner, the well-known resource of gaining attention by provocation." An online petition has now been launched against Placar's use of the image of Neymar as Jesus Christ, which has gained over 7,000 signatures since its manifestation. www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2557/news/2012/09/28/3410825/bishops-severely-outraged-by-neymar-representation-of-jesus

FOR two years, Osakpolor Igbinosa, the Oriowon, Edo State born Material Security Officer attached to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, NSPMC, with its head office in Victoria Island, Lagos, had basked in the euphoria of stealing printed naira notes from his company without being caught. With the proceeds of his criminality, Osakpolor had bought a Pathfinder Jeep and built a state of the art bungalow at his home town and lived above his income to the consternation of his colleagues. As a security officer he carried out his nefarious deal without a tincture of suspicion. He searched other staff while closing for the day’s job; but right under his sucks and pants were a few naira notes masterly tucked in. Lucrative business But like the age-long aphorism which says ‘every day for the thief, one day for the owner,’ the 43 year-old secondary school graduate and father of four is presently telling the police the story of his life as his hitherto ‘lucrative business’ has spelt his doom. Though Osakpolor had as usual succeeded in meandering through the highly secured NSPMC gate with his loot, the long arm of the law caught up with him while attempting to exchange some of the stolen naira notes for the US Dollars somewhere in the suburbs of Ikorodu, Lagos. Betraying emotions while narrating how he was beaten to his act, Igbinosa who was clad in a pair of jeans trousers, a stripe long sleeve shirt and leather sandal to match said: “I know my game is up, all I need now is mercy of God because of my wife and four children. “I want to correct one impression that I belong to a syndicate who specialize in printing fake naira notes. I am not. I am a staff of NSPMC, a material security officer; anybody can go and find out. My staff number is MSC/4503. Others said I printed the notes by myself, that is a lie. What happened is that I normally steal some of the notes that have no security numbers on them from my company and outside, I would exchange them for the genuine old ones. “I have been doing it; most Nigerians are not conscious of the numbers. When they see crispy notes, they will readily jump on them. So, that is what I have been doing since 2010. In 2010, I stole for two weeks consecutively and made big money; I can’t tell you the amount now. And I have been spending the money without anybody knowing. With it, I bought my Pathfinder jeep and built my house. “In 2011, I did not steal much because there was a new security head who was not friendly at all. But this year, 2012, he was redeployed to another section and that gave me the leverage to start again. I have been doing it since this year and I felt it was time I traveled outside the country. The ones that the police recovered from me were the last ones I wanted to dispose of before the Mallam at the place I normally do my exchange discovered. I do not know how they got me this time around but I think it was God that wanted to expose me. “What I want you people to do for me is to beg the police to have mercy on me not for my sake but for the sake of my wife and four children. They did not know how I got the money with which they fed. Let them leave me so that I can repent, serve God and live a good life.” But the Police through its public relations officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said no matter how pathetic and convincing his tale of criminality may sound, the law will have to take its full course. She said “On September 19, 2012 at about 4.00pm. Business of exchange She said: “One Abdulraham Abdullahi of Benson Plaza Ikorodu alerted police men attached to Shagamu road that one Osakpolor Igbinosa of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company located on Victoria Island with staff number MSC./4503 transacted a business of exchange of nine hundred naira for three thousand US Dollars. During the transaction, the said nine hundred thousand naira was discovered to be fake because the notes do not have security/minting numbers. The suspect was promptly arrested by the Police and during interrogation, he confessed being a security man attached to the NSPMC and that he stole the nine hundred thousand counterfeit money from the office. He further stated that he had been stealing the counterfeit money since 2010 and bought a Nissan Pathfinder Jeep with registration number KRD 480AE from the illegal business. He even attempted to bribe the police who came to effect his arrest with the sum of N300, 000 but the offer was turned down.” The Police image maker further stated that a total of N320,000 genuine money was recovered from him adding that he would soon be charged to court under the relevant section of the law. www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/games-up-for-nigerian-printing-minting-staff-for-stealing-printed-naira-notes/

boobfan: I know about the guy, he acted that way because of the normal brainwashing and financial enticements the islamic religion promises anyone before conversion.I lived almost all my life in Akim Asene Oda Ghana and can tell you that we have high populations of muslims that are like the hausas in the Northern region. A typical example is ASARI DOKUBO from Niger-Delta in Nigeria, who after brainwash was converted to Islam and was behind the Terrorist attacks in Niger-Delta because of his Islamic study and association with Mohammed Yusuf the slain Boko Haram Leader. Christians can never fight or kill anyone because Jesus is mocked but the fanatic nature of Islam and belief that they can fight for Allah's cause and get rewarded with sex with 72 virgins in Al juana breeds violence in the society today.Take it or leave it!U r funny...
