You’re living in the age of the Internet. Your religion will be mocked, and the mockery will find its way to you. Get over it. If you don’t, what’s happening this week will happen again and again. A couple of idiots with a video camera and an Internet connection will trigger riots across the globe. They’ll bait you into killing one another. Stop it. Stop following their script. Today, fury, violence, and bloodshed are consuming the Muslim world. Why? Because a bank fraud artist in California offered people $75 a day to come to his house and act out scenes that ostensibly had nothing to do with Islam. Then he replaced the audio, putting words in the actors’ mouths, and stitched together the scenes to make an absurdly bad movie ridiculing the Prophet Mohammed. He put out flyers to promote the movie. Nobody—literally nobody—came to watch it. He posted a 14-minute video excerpt of the movie on YouTube, but hardly anyone noticed. Then, a week ago, an anti-Muslim activist in Virginia reposted the video with an Arabic translation and sent the link to activists and journalists in Egypt. An Egyptian TV show aired part of the video. An Egyptian politician denounced it. Clerics sounded the alarm. Through Facebook and Twitter, protesters were mobilized to descend on the U.S. embassy in Cairo. The uprising spread. The U.S. ambassador to Libya has been killed, and violence has engulfed other countries. When the protests broke out, the guy who made the movie claimed to be an Israeli Jew funded by other Jews. That turned out be a lie. Now he says he’s a Coptic Christian, even though Coptic Christian leaders in Egypt and the United States despise the movie and want nothing to do with him. Another guy who helped make the movie claims to be a Buddhist. The movie was made in the United States, yet Sudanese mobs have attacked British and German embassies. Some Egyptians targeted the Dutch embassy, mistakenly thinking the Netherlands was behind the movie. Everyone’s looking for a group to blame and attack. The men behind the movie said it would expose Islam as a violent religion. Now they’re pointing to the riots as proof. Muslims are “pre-programmed” to rage and kill, says the movie’s promoter. “Islam is a cancer,” says the director. According to the distributor, “The violence that it caused in Egypt is further evidence of how violent the religion and people are and it is evidence that everything in the film is factual.” Congratulations, rioters. You followed the script perfectly. You did the propagandists’ work for them. And the provocations won’t end here. Laws and censors won’t protect you from them. Liberal democracies allow freedom of expression. Our leaders and people condemn garbage like this video, but we don’t censor it. Even if we did, the diffusion of media technology makes suppression impossible. The director of this movie was forbidden, under his bank-fraud probation rules, from using computers or the Internet without approval. That didn’t stop him. Nor did it stop the Arabic-language distributor from reposting the video and disseminating it abroad. Online propaganda is speech. But it’s also part of the global rise of lethal empowerment. It’s easier than ever to kill people. In Muslim countries, mass murderers favor bombs. In the United States, they prefer guns. In Japan, they’ve tried sarin nerve gas. The Oklahoma City bomber used fertilizer. The Sept. 11 hijackers used box cutters and passenger planes. Then came the letters filled with anthrax. Derision is that much harder to control. The spread of digital technology and Internet bandwidth makes it possible to reach every corner of the globe almost instantly with homemade video defaming any faith tradition. It can become an incendiary weapon. But it has a weakness: It depends on you. You’re the detonator. If you don’t cooperate, the bomb doesn’t explode. This isn’t just a Muslim problem, though that’s been the pattern lately. On YouTube, you can find videos insulting every religion on the planet: Jews, Christians, Hindus, Catholics, Mormons, Buddhists, and more. Some clips are ironic. Others are simply disgusting. Many were posted to bait one group into fighting another. The baiters are indiscriminate. The promoter of the Mohammed movie founded a group that also protests at Mormon temples. The hatred and bloodshed will go on until you stop taking the bait. Mockery of your prophet on a computer with an Internet address somewhere in the world can no longer be your master. Nor can the puppet clerics who tell you to respond with violence. Lay down your stones and your anger. Go home and pray. God is too great to be troubled by the insults of fools. Follow Him. |
Reports making the round in the Spanish media circle after former coach of Barcelona Pep Guardiola missed the elite UEFA Coaches forum and coincidentally or not Manchester United's manager Sir Alex Ferguson was also missing from the forum only for both men to be sighted together in New York probably in talks over the former Barca manager's possibility of taking over the torch from Sir Alex at the end of 2012. An issue that has generated so much debate amongst fans of the Red Devils' and pundits alike for the better part of the last decade, and it seems as though the question of who will be the next Manchester United manager may finally be answered. Of course, we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves too much here. Yes, the fact that these two managers skipped the Forum to have private talks on a completely different continent is somewhat intriguing, but after all, these two men are friends away from the pitch. Who's to say that they hadn't had this friendly catch-up planned for a while and didn't want to postpone it any further, despite it clashing with UEFA's annual event. What is really driving the rumours is the fact that Guardiola-along with Jose Mourinho-has been one of the breakaway favourites to take on the United job for a long time now. When the former Barca man stepped down and announced that he would be taking a year off from football, those suspicions were only heightened. It has been spoken about in whispers this summer that the current Premier League season may be the final one for the great Sir Alex Ferguson in being charge of Manchester United. This, coinciding with Guardiola's year-long break, now followed by a "coincidental" meeting in America, will only continue to fuel the rumours of the Spaniard's possible arrival at Old Trafford next summer. Nothing is confirmed yet by any means, but perhaps United's future post-Fergie is slowly starting to reveal itself. http://m.naij.com/news/7977.html |

Dear wife: I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever. I've been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it. These last 2 weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didn't even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me anymore; you don't want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either you're cheating on me or you don't love me anymore; whatever the case, I'm gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. don't try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life! Dear Ex-Husband Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping Too bad that doesn't work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was 'You look just like a girl!' Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can't say something nice, I didn't comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, & I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed $50 from me that morning. After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million dollars, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone.. Everything happens for a reason, I guess. I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won't get a dime from me. So take care. Signed, Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell & Free! P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that's not a problem. |

Police arrested three Nigerian students and a 23-year-old local woman, believed to be members of an African Scam syndicate, for allegedly cheating a 56-year-old a secretary of RM233,227. The three Nigerians detained were identified as Fred Ajiri, 27, a college student as well as language centre students Akegwure Okpure Israel, 27 and Charles Obia, 28. The three were arrested on Tuesday at about 3.13am at 1-09-05 Puteri Palma Condominium at the IOI Resort in Putrajaya. State Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief, Supt Soh Hock Sing said the local woman was arrested earlier in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 23, at about 11.55am. He said the scam was initiated through Facebook on May 5, when the victim, who is from the Portuguese Settlement here befriended a man who introduced himself as Dr Michael Clinton from Switzerland. "In their on-line conversation, the man said that he was currently attached with the United Nations in Kabul, Afghanistan. "Dr Michael told the victim that he was planning to open a clinic in Malaysia and asked if the victim would help him keep some money, amounting to US380,000 (RM1.2 million) which he would be sending to her. "Dr Michael also told the victim that he would be coming to Malaysia sometime in the end of May ," he said. Soh said that the victim had on May 29, received an e-mail from Mrs Dorothy Scott which stated that she had received the money on behalf of from Dr Michael. On May 30, the victim received another e-mail stating that the money had arrived safely in Kuching, Sarawak. "The victim was then told to pay RM54,500 as the Anti Money Laundering fee as it was being brought into the country in cash. The victim then made a transfer of the sum demanded to an AmBank Account belonging to Elfina Azyze at the RHB Bank branch in Melaka Raya. "The victim was then asked to bank in an additional RM6,500 as a payment for the IMF Seal and the money was to be transferred into the same AmBank account and the victim did as told. "On July 1, the victim received a call from an agent handling the funds from overseas and was told the the Malaysian Government had requested for a tax payment of seven per cent of the USD380,000 as the money was brought from overseas and that the amount had exceeded the sum allowed to be brought into the country. "For this, the victim had to pay RM77.227.96. The victim then transferred the amount to the same AmBank account," he said. Soh said that the victim had on July 4, received a call from the same agent who now said that the money brought in was not USD380,000 but USD560,000 (RM1.75 million) and that the victim had to pay an additional RM85,000 as tax before the money could be released to her. "The victim transferred the sum requested to the same AmBank account on July 6. "On July 8, the victim received a call from the agent, who identified himself as Derek Moyo, and she was requested to come to the Cititel Hotel in Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur to collect the money but she had to bring RM10,000 as service fee to the agent," he said. Soh said that on July 9, the victim met Derek and a local man in a room at the Cititel Hotel and she was given a metal safe box in which the money sent to her by Dr Michael was being kept. "When the box was opened the suspect said she was some US dollars before Derek took out a white bottle from the metal box and some A4 papers which was said contained instructions on how to wash the money. "Derek then used the liquid to wash four pieces of USD100 bills. Derek then told the victim that the liquid was insufficient to wash all the money and that the money had to be brought to the lab at the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to be washed. "Derek told the victim that he needed more cash for this process," he said. However, the victim said that she did not bring the cash and could only transfer the money to the AmBank account after she had returned to Malacca. However, the victim suspected something was wrong and made a report at the Banda Hilir police station upon Aug 16. Soh said that all four suspects who had been arrested have been remanded till Aug 31 pending the investigations which are carried out Under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. http://www.ipaidabribenaija.com/latest-news/read.php?id=8498

With all the Nollywood hype on juju, money rituals, power rituals, witches and wizards, and prayers that cure all problems, one would have thought that Nigeria would be topping the medals’ list at the just concluded Olympics in London. The Americas, Asia, Europe and other parts of the world would have stayed by the sidelines kowtowing with trembling and trepidation as Nigeria pockets medal after medal. But regrettably, it seems the potency of the juju from these named climes dwarfs ours. Or, perhaps the citizens of these continents pray better and harder than we do. Or, put more resignedly: Maybe God loves these nations more than Nigeria. Less than three weeks ago – precisely on July 25 – the media reported the arrest of two men from Nasarawa State, near the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with the fresh head of a seven-year-old boy. The victim was identified as Samu Danjuma, the child of their neighbours. According to the confession they made to the police before the media when they were paraded by officials of the State Security Services, they had lured the boy with a loaf of bread, drowned him, and beheaded him for sale to a man who had promised them N250,000.00. On July 27, two men were arrested in Lagos with the decomposing, mutilated body of their 39-year-old brother, Akinbuyi Ajayi, in their family house in Festac Town. Some body parts such as the head, hands, private part and a part of the two legs had been removed from the corpse. The decomposing corpse was discovered after the two were caught by the police allegedly selling some human parts. That led to a search of their house, a duplex which their parents had left behind for them. Just like these two unfortunate people murdered by men without consciousness, many have been killed in like manner. Many have disappeared and have never been found till today. The reason for this wicked act is that many have been made to believe that using some human parts such as head, heart, eyes, lungs, and genitals for rituals makes one rich and powerful. It is also believed that elections are won easily when charms are prepared with such human parts. There is also the belief that such human parts can be used to prepare charms that will make someone invincible, with such a person’s body impenetrable by bullets, arrows and machete cuts. It is futile arguing whether these claims are true or false, for mystical issues are never empirical and open. But one question nobody has been able to answer is: If human sacrifice or the occult gives such stupendous and inexplicable wealth and power, why are the top ten richest men in the world not all Nigerian men of the occult, since the money that comes through the occult flows in like a river while the money that comes in through businesses and investments comes in countable proportions? This belief that money and power can be obtained through human sacrifice and the occult has been accentuated and promoted by many of the films produced by the Nigerian home video industry. It is a fact that the 1992 home video, Living in Bondage, which was the first Nigerian home video that kick- started what is today known as Nollywood, focused primarily on the making of money through the occult. A young man, who saw himself living from hand to mouth as an employee, was convinced to sacrifice his wife to the occult to become rich. He budged and suddenly became a multi-millionaire. At the end of the film, a pastor delivered him from the grip of the occult. Interestingly, many people believe that such rituals can indeed give them wealth and power, and so they seek occult powers and human sacrifice as the solution to their financial problems. While the film producers and directors are producing films that promote the quick-fix life, many religious leaders intensify that same way of life by making their members and those who watch them on TV or listen to them on the radio to believe that one can go to bed a pauper and wake up with duplexes and exotic cars just by ‘praying’ and ‘sowing a seed’. That same quick-fix mentality runs through all our life as a nation. It is the driving force behind drug- trafficking, advance fee fraud, armed robbery, bribery and corruption and embezzlement of public funds. Many compatriots have been made to believe that all they need to succeed in life is a supernatural occurrence, which will happen like a bang. So, on all fronts, our nation has been reduced to a nation of men and women who are eager to reap from where they did not sow; a nation that does not work but wants to eat; a nation that believes more in good luck than in hard work; a nation that believes that its duties and responsibilities will be carried out by supernatural forces one bright sunny morning and all its challenges will be a thing of the past. And so, whether we prepare well for such sporting events as the Africa Nations Cup, World Cup, the Olympics or not, we hope and pray that we will excel somehow. Whether or not the health system, the education system, the agriculture and productivity sectors are nose-diving, we believe that something will happen to turn around our fortunes as a nation. We have jettisoned the biblical injunction that he who does not work should not eat, as well as that which says that faith without work is dead. Seeing our desperation to make quick money and achieve quick feats, some conmen in the name of medicine men or religious leaders simply feed on our weakness by making us believe that some rituals or prayers can catapult us overnight from penury to wealth and power. Our movie makers assume they are teaching a lesson by making these movies that show people involving in human sacrifice, becoming stupendously rich, suffering later and being saved by pastors at the end. On the contrary, many who watch these home videos get a different message: that the occult men who got retributive justice in the home videos were not smart enough to abide by all the tenets of the occult. They, therefore, believe that when they make their own money through the occult, they will be smart enough to avoid all the loopholes. These occult-based home videos teach no lessons in effect: all they do is show the youths that there is a quick way to make money and obtain power. In addition, the home video makers are inadvertently portraying Nigeria as a land where all rich men and women are members of the occult and people who have made their money through human sacrifice. I have heard some West African nationals dismiss the wealth of Nigerian men and women as “blood money”, a term which in Nollywood means money acquired through human sacrifice and occult powers. The time has come for Nigeria to directly or indirectly intervene in the type of films released to the public as well as the type of message some of our religious leaders preach. That may keep us and our children safer, and make our youths appreciate the beauty in working and earning a living. The 2012 London Olympics has shown that medals, like success, go to nations that rely on hard work and long term preparations than on good luck. |

alienvirus:@alienvirus,am loving Ų man! Ų are making my day! Thumb ups τ̲̅ȍ Ų bro.... Please there is difference between ISLAM and MUSLIM..... Islam is PERFECT, MUSLIM aren't! Don't judge Islam with what some Muslim do! If we are talking about terrorism here, When america takes 1million in Iraq for oil: Not terrorism When Serbs rape Muslims in Kosovo/Bosnia: Not terrorism When Russians kill 200000 Chechens in Bombings: Not terrorism When Jews kick out Palestinians and take away their homes: Not terrorism When American drones kill entire families in Afghanistan/Parkistan: Not terrorism When Israel kills 10000 Lebanese civilians due τ̲̅ȍ two missing soldiers: Not terrorism When Muslims retaliate and show how you treat us: TERRORISM! Terrorism it seems like the word "Terrorism" is only reserved for Muslims. When you point α finger at α person, doesn't mean you are perfect! |
We Muslims have no hesitation in acknowledging that in the Bible, there are three different kinds of witnessing recognizable without any need of specialized training. These are: 1. You will be able to recognize in the Bible what may be described as "The Word of God." 2. You will also be able to discern what can be described as the "Words of a Prophet of God." 3. And you will most readily observe that the bulk of the Bible is the records of eye witnessess or ear witnesses, or people writing from hearsay. As such they are the "Words of a Historian" You do not have to hunt for examples of these different types of evidences in the Bible. The following quotations will make the position crystal clear: The FIRST Type: (a) I will raise them up a prophet . . . and I will put my words in ... and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:18) (b) I even, I am the Lord, and beside me there is no saviour." (Isaiah 43:11) (c) "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the end of the earth: for I am God, and there is non else." (Isaiah 45:22) Note the first person pronoun singular (highlighted in green) in the above references, and without any difficulty you will agree that the statements seem to have the sound of being GOD'S WORD. The SECOND Type: (a) "Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachtani? . . ." (Matthew 27:46) (b) "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord:" (Mark 12:29) (c) "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God." (Mark 10:18). Even a child will be able to affirm that: Jesus "cried" Jesus "answered" and Jesus "said" are the words of the one to whom they are attributed, i.e. the WORDS OF A PROPHET OF GOD. The THIRD Type: "And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he, (JESUS) came, if haply he (JESUS) might find anything thereon: and when he (JESUS) came to it, (Jesus) found nothing but leaves . . ." (Mark 11:13) The bulk of the Bible is a witnessing of this THIRD kind. These are the words of a third person. Note the underlined pronouns. They are not the Words of God or of His prophet, but the WORDS OF A HISTORIAN. For the Muslim it is quite easy to distinguish the above types of evidence, because he also has them in his own faith. But of the followers of the different religions, he is the most fortunate in this that his various records are contained in separate Books! ONE: The first kind — THE WORD OF GOD — is found in a Book called The Holy Qur’an. TWO: The second kind — THE WORDS OF THE PROPHET OF GOD, (Muhummed, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) are recorded in the Books of Tradition called The Hadith. THREE: Evidence of the third kind abounds in different volume of Islamic history, written by some of high integrity and learning, and others of lesser trustworthiness, but the Muslim advisedly keeps his Books in separate volumes! The Muslim keeps the above three types of evidence Jealously apart, in their proper gradations of authority. He never equates them. On the other hand, the "Holy Bible" contains a motley type of literature, which composes the embarrassing kind, the sordid, and the obscene — all under the same cover — A Christian is forced to concede equal spiritual import and authority to all, and is thus unfortunate in this regard. |
Am beginning to have this strong feelings that she is feared even by the legislature. Were they not the ones raising eye brow saying that the budget implemented is not above 51% (may be wrong in the percentage) now she has appeared before them not even breaking α sweat telling them what it is! Probably it is her eye sockets that scared them. And it is because of this that the house of rep are threatening to impeach the president eh? Well, And the winner is....... Okonjo |

A Nigerian senator earns more in Salary than Barack Obama of the US and David Cameron of the UK. I'll leave you to tell how much Nigerian president goes home with at the end of each month. An Indian lawmaker must work for at least 49 years to earn the annual salary of a Nigerian senator. In the United States, while the minimum wage is $1,257 (N191, 667), a US lawmaker earns $15,080 (N2.3m) per month. In the United Kingdom, a lawmaker earns $8,686(N1.3m) monthly while the gross national minimum wage is $1,883 (N283, 333) per month. Also, Nigerian lawmakers earn higher than their counterparts in Sweden. With a monthly pay of $7,707 (N1.2m), a lawmaker in Sweden will need to work for over 12 years to equal what a Nigerian senator earn per annum. The president of the United States takes home an anual salary of $400,000 (N64.156,0m), including a $50,000 expense allowance making the president the highest paid public servant in the US. In addition to the regular and legitimate salaries and allowances of over N17 million ($113,333) and N14.99 million ($99,933) which senators and reps were collecting yearly and the irregular allowance of estacodes, duty tours etc, they were also collecting over N192m ($1.28m) and N140m ($0.93m) respectively in illicit quarterly allocation which is not provided for by RMAFC. Effectively, a Nigerian senator was taking home at least $1.40m ($1.28m quarterly allocations + $0.113m regular salaries and allowances) as against the $0.174m an American senator takes home hence a Nigeria senator earns at least 8 times as much as an American senator and more than 3 times the American president. Whereas a Senator in the U.S earns N21, 146,000, the same as a member of the House of Representatives; a UK Member of Parliament earn £64,766 (N14, 896,180) In other words, a Federal Legislator in Nigeria is paid more than double what a Member of British Parliament earns per annum. Senate President David Mark alone takes N250 million quarterly or N83.33 million per month. Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu gets N150 million per quarter or N50 million a month. Mark and Ekweremadu earns in 4 months, six times what the UK Prime Minister earns in a year. David Cameron goes home with £190,000 per anum (N43, 700,000) In a newspaper news article entitled ‘An Assembly for looting’ written by Musikilu Mojeed with Elor Nkereuwem, the authors rightly claimed that each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives were getting N35 million in cash money in quarterly allocation while each of the 109 Senators pockets N48 million each. These allocations have however been slashed by 20% to N27 million ($180,000) and N38 million ($253,333) respectively due to the 20% reduction requested by the late president. Please tell me, how do we expect this banana republican hell fire to become a country tomorrow. Do you still ask why Nigerian politics is a do or die affair? An Abuja High Court will today rule on whether to suspend a motion that temporarily halts work on a prime plot in Abuja to which both the First Lady Patience Jonathan and former First Lady Turai Yar'adua are staking a claim. The land in disputed -Plot No. 1347 Cadastral Zone, AOO Central Business District, Abuja, FCT measures 1.84 hectares. It was allocated to Mrs. Yar'Adua's Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) in February 2010. On March 19, 2010 the WAYEF paid the sum of N166m to the FCTA as right of occupancy fees. Again, on July 29, 2011 the WAYEF paid another sum of N76.9m as settlement fees for building plans. However, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Bala Mohammed in November 2011 revoked WAYEF's title right to the land and reallocated same to Mrs. Jonathan-led African First Ladies' Peace Mission. Mr Mohammed said he revoked the allocation in overriding public interest with Mrs Jonathan saying she wants to build the secretariat of the First Ladies Peace Mission on the land. On November 23, 2011, Mrs. Yar'Adua's WAYEF sued the FCT minister, challenging the revocation. On March 5, 2012 , Justice Peter Affen of the Abuja High Court granted an injunction restraining the Minister or any other person from affecting the title or interest of WAYEF over the plot of land pending the determination of the case. But in spite of the ongoing litigation and petitions to the police by Mrs. Yar'dua, Mrs Jonathan is now set to effectively take possession of the land. To that effect, Mrs Jonathan has approached the court, through the Federal Ministry of Justice, asking it to discharge the restraining order on the land or make an order of stay of execution of the interlocutory injunction it earlier granted Mrs. Yar'Adua's NGO. In an affidavit in support of the motion, Mrs Jonathan, through Ballah Ali, a litigation officer in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, informed the court that she would be hosting African first ladies from July 24 to 27 and that a foundation laying ceremony would be performed on the land during the period. "The image of Nigeria may be adversely affected in the community of Nations if this injunction is not vacated and the foundation ceremony is truncated," the affidavit said. http://m.naij.com/news/3612.html |

A senior security official in Abuja today told SaharaReporters that the militant Islamist sect Boko Haram was likely behind the car explosion in Okene, Kogi State. The same source disclosed that the sect has developed a sophisticated leadership structure that includes several departments headed by highly trained personnel and charged with specific assignments. The security source stated that the organization, which is waging a violent fight against the Nigerian state, has developed a layered organizational structure. "The Shura Council serves as the highest decision making body," said the source. In addition, the sect has recruited numerous members trained as specialists in suicide bombings. Other sub-groups include those specialized in stealing/disposing expensive cars at gun point for use in terrorist work; those who gather intelligence and carry out research for possible targets and modes of operation; those trained as ground troops to repel security agents and other counter actions against the sect in armed duels. The source disclosed that Boko Haram maintains a department in charge of bomb making as well as the fixing of explosives for suicide bombers and bomb planters. A different cell specializes in planting bombs at targeted sights. In addition, there is a department that handles the welfare of members as well as suicide bombers' surviving wives and children. The sect's public enlightenment department takes charge of outside communication, including all email, "youtube" and other video coverage. A team is charged with recruitment and training of new members. Finally, the medical committee oversees the healthcare needs of members and their families. His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, the Emir Anka, who also doubles as the Emir of Zamfara State has condemned members of the Boko Haram sect, describing them as anti-Islam. He also dispelled rumours of an impending religious war and urged the Federal Government not to relent in its effort to root out the sect. Speaking in an exclusive interview with newsmen on Saturday in his palace in Anka, he said, whoever is fomenting trouble in the North is doing so at his or her own risk and not for the region or Islam. "That is why Muslim and Christian leaders are against them. We are all calling for peace. There is no part of the world where religious war has succeeded. God in his own wisdom decided to make us people of different religions. There is no way that we can be people of one religion. Let us stay as we are. If the Boko Haram people were fighting for Islam, you would have seen some Emirs coming out to condone or approve of what they are doing. But no eminent malam supports them. The Christian leaders did not condone the reprisal attacks that happened recently in the North. That is to say that I don't foresee any religious war in the country," he said. Ahmad insisted that Boko Haram people are not fighting religious war and everybody knows that. "Unfortunately, people refuse to condemn them point blank. I condemn them on several occasions that they are not fighting for Islam. If they have problems with the government, they should come and seek the counsel of the elders who will present their issues to the government. And there would be dialogue, man-to-man. "You can't hide and say that you are fighting a cause when nobody knows you. Why should everybody be afraid of Boko Haram? The one who kills must be killed, just wait. And they will not die a good death, and they will not succeed here and the life after, because they are not doing it for Islam. People should come out and expose them," he added. He also disabused the minds of people that Boko Haram is fighting a jihad. Ahmad stressed that the time of jihad has ended with Prophet Mohammed. "Prophet Mohammed did not provoke any war. He only fought a war of self-defence. People should remember that at a time, members of the Boko Haram sect were killing traditional rulers and the police. They were attacking banks to get money to carry out their operations. Can you imagine! How can somebody who is fighting in the name of Islam be robbing people? That is the irony and the contradiction of Boko Haram." http://www.ipaidabribenaija.com/latest-news/read.php?id=5806 |
