Education / 10 Practical Tips To Help You Plan Like A Boss by zykita(f): 8:05am On Mar 12, 2021
Here's something you need
So I realized after some time that if I counting down to live anyhow, two things might happen.
I either ignore my academics totally
Or give too much time to academics and forget about myself and making money.
That's why I tried to find a balance.
Although it was not easy, I still found planning a great help to becoming more emotionally grounded. And that's why I'm telling you about it.
I wrote this article while thinking about everyone like me. Juggling, business, volunteer work, school, family and relationships together. It's crazy but this article can help you make the most of your time.
So you don't end up feeling lost and tired all the time.
You need to learn to plan like a boss.

Health / Five Reasons Why You Feel Stressed All The Time. by zykita(f): 10:15pm On Jan 30, 2021
Five reasons why you feel stressed all the time.

I have come to know that stress comes with being an adult. I'm not saying children don't get stressed. All I'm saying is growing up is really stressful. Because the more you grow, the more things you have to worry about.

There's bills, relationship, school, work... The list is endless. If you grew up in an healthy family, you would probably have had most of your worries taken care of by your parents. Growing up means having to worry about yourself.

Besides the fact that the society mounts pressure on you, you also mount pressure on yourself. It could be social pressure or pressure from relationships and friendships. When it feels like there's too much going on, you practically feel stressed all the time.

The weird thing about feeling stressed is that it doesn't just go away by sleeping or resting. If you don't take your time to fix it, it only gets worse. And then it comes with other bags of problems.

When you feel stressed, you would be less productive. I have noticed with myself that feeling unproductive makes me even more stressed. It's like a vicious cycle. I even feel stressed about feeling stressed.

Towards the last four months of year 2020, I finally got tired of feeling stressed. And I decided to do something about it. But first I needed to know why.

I spent my time going through different materials about mental health, stress and anxieties. I'm glad I did because as soon as I was able to identify where the stress came from, I was able to find solutions.

If you find yourself feeling stressed a lot, then it could be because of any of the following reasons.

Reasons why you feel stressed

Before I mention any of these reasons, I must mention that I'm not a professional in this field. All of these are my opinions and are from my personal experience.

Also, if by any chance you cannot relate to any of the points mentioned make sure to look within yourself for the reasons why you feel stressed.

Because in the long run, stress not only damages your brain, it affects every other parts of your body. It even creates strains in your relationships.

Enough said let's get to the point.

1) You bite more than you chew:

Sometimes, we make plans unconsciously. For instance when someone advertises a pair of shoes on Instagram, you tell yourself you would buy it. And then you daydream about wearing the shoes.

It's harmless right? No. Your brain actually retains that information. And unless you make a decision about it, it would continue to be on your mind.

Think of your mind as an alarm clock or reminder, for every plan you make, it keeps ringing.

Everytime you....

Business / How To Stay Motivated With Little Or No Support From People by zykita(f): 10:46am On Jan 27, 2021
I remember when I first told people I wanted to start a blog. A lot my friends were genuinely happy for me and urged me to do it. They even promised to support me. They reposted my links and checked out my works.

But after a few months, only a few people were still actively checking out my posts and sharing my links. At that point, I felt like giving up on blogging. I mean what's the point of having a blog no one visits.

Even one of my Facebook friends went through this. When she announced she was getting her book published, a lot of people including me congratulated her and showed interest in buying the book. But when the book finally came out, only a few people bought it. I didn't buy the book. In my defense uhm I was broke. Let's just say I only remember about her book when I don't have money to spare.

A lot of us have been there. Having a lot of people promising to support us at the start of a business only to find out that we are on our own. It sucks but life is like that, unpredictable.

So what do we do in times like this? How do you not give up, when you can't find customers to patronize you or readers who are genuinely interested your work. How do you not lose interest?

In this article, I would be sharing some of tips that helped me find motivation within myself to get up and blog when only a few people were rooting for me.( They were below 10)

5 Ways to stay motivated

Trust me, they are really simple steps yet they can make a big difference in your life

1) Create a blue print for your goals

When I first started my blog, I didn't really have clearly defined goals. I just wanted to write, get people to share my posts and make money. When this didn't happen, I felt utterly devastated. (I was already depressed, this just made it worse)

Kita interviews Nigerian youths on living, thriving and doing what they do in Nigeria

I recently started interviewing Nigerian youths, students mostly. I'm doing this because our stories are under reported plus it's more of a survey.

So far I have interviewed two people
The first being with Adebayo Ifetoba. A Nigerian student who studies in Benin republic.
I asked him different questions about living and studying in Benin republic and how easy it is cope.

https://kitavibez.com/on-studying-in-benin-republic-an-interview-with-adebayo-ifetoba/

I really enjoyed doing the interview so much that I decided to do a second interview.

This time around, I interviewed Aisha Adebimpe Bankole. She's a young entrepreneur who currently runs different businesses.

I personally learnt a lot while talking to her. She discussed her business mistakes, victories and plans.

https://kitavibez.com/i-interviewed-aisha-adebimpe-bankole-on-being-a-young-entrepreneur/

All in all, it's been a fun process for me.
My plan is to interview as many Nigerian youths as possible in different fields. That is why I decided to create this thread on nairaland where I can leave links to every new interview.

The next interview I would be publishing is about a Nigerian Basketballer. He is a very interesting person and I'm sure the interview would be super fun to read.

I can't wait to share.

If you see this post, please leave encouraging words for me.

I know we all procrastinate, but I would really appreciate it if you visit my blog and subscribe.

Business / 5 Books Every Nigerian Business Owner Must Read At Least Once by zykita(f): 9:26am On Jan 14, 2021
5 books every Nigerian business owner must read at least once

The truth is that you can only give what you have. Unless you have in-depth knowledge about a subject or topic it would be almost impossible to discuss or teach people about it correctly. This simply means that a poor teacher cannot teach you how to be rich.

We live in a world where so many people claim to have knowledge on how to teach you to make millions of dollars while they themselves are struggling.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that sees tonnes of ads claiming to know how to turn me into a millionaire in one week or in one day. Well, if they knew they probably wouldn't be so Keen to share.

Anyways, the books I would be reviewing today are enlightening books filled with knowledge on business and financial intelligence.

They cover all the different topics associated with starting a business, managing it, marketing and getting investors.

I have read all of the books I would be reviewing today and in so many ways, they have change the way I think.

From experience, the average Nigerian doesn't like reading. But the only place you can find in depth knowledge and learn from other people's mistakes is through books.

That is why I try to encourage people to read books as much as possible. The books I would be reviewing and recommending are all written by well known rich people who have shared their experiences through writing.

Let's get straight to the reviews

1) Small business, big money

This book was written by Akin Alabi the CEO of the popular bet 9ja company. The reason why this book is number one on my reading list is because it is relatable.

On studying in Benin republic- An interview with Adebayo Ifetoba.

I wanted to kick off this category a long time ago but I didn't feel like I was ready to commit to it but now I am.

My plan is to interview as many Nigerian youths as possible. Both students and working class youths in different fields.

The reason I'm doing this is because a lot of our stories don't get told. I hope to share as many people's stories as I can.

Today's interview

I interviewed one of my closest friends in secondary school who is currently studying in a neighboring country.

Let's just say I was a bit curious about studying in Benin republic. So I asked if he was interested in answering some questions about studying over there and he agreed.

I really enjoyed the interview and I bet you would too.

1)Thank you for being part of this interview. Please tell us a bit about yourself? What school do you study in and what do you do?
My name is Adebayo Ifetoba
I’m 19 years
A 400lvl student of computer engineering technology at Houdegbe North American university, benin republic.

Travel / All The Beautiful Things We Ignore- A Visit To Iloko Dam by zykita(f): 12:41am On Jan 11, 2021
All the beautiful things we ignore

Iloko-Ijesha somewhere in Osun state, Nigeria.

While we chase the big picture, we sometimes forget about all the beautiful things right in front of us.

I have always said I live in a town where nothing ever happens because technically, everything is the same every day. There are barely parties or restaurants or anything most people would find exciting.(I'm not even a party person)

That has been my excuse for not going out in the past one year. I spent most of time working or just sleeping.
But this year, I told myself I would be going out more. It's one of my big goals. ( I have started forking up my new year resolutions. It took just seven days to restore back )

When I said I would be going out more, I meant I would be going to big places. Places of interest where a lot of people visit. For me going out meant well going to beautiful places far away from home.

Which is why I pushed that goal aside for later when I'm rich enough. You know, when I have enough money to travel to different countries.

I have always wanted to go to the dam here in Iloko-Ijesha but I always forget or postponed going there. Plus I didn't think it was such a big deal. I thought it was nothing exciting. So I always found a reason not to go.

Yesterday, I eventually dragged myself out of the house and I did it, I went outside.

I actually stayed indoors for a whole week straight. I won't call myself an introvert because I like to talk a lot. I'm only lazy when it comes to going out. I'm a lazyvert.

But I got dressed and told myself "Kita you are going outside today even if it's going to kill you."

I killed her and I don't feel guilty
Hey
I know everyone is looking for me and you probably hate me too. I just want you to know that I don't feel any remorse. I don't feel guilty for killing her. As a matter of fact, I wish I killed her in a better say. Slower. I wish I could make her feel every pain she made me feel.
Go ahead, call me murderer but she murdered me first. She took the part that made me human. I gave her every last of my being and what did I get in return, betrayal.
You know, I was like God to her. Maybe even nicer. Do you know who was there when her parents kicked her out with a baby in her womb? That's right me. I was there with her. I took care of her even though the baby wasn't mine. I made her comfortable. Gave her a roof over her head.
When she lost the baby after her birth. Or when she killed the baby. It's kind of our little secret.

Family / You Don't Need This 5 Things In 2021 by zykita(f): 6:38pm On Jan 04, 2021
Happy new year guys! I'm so excited to start this journey with you guys. 2020 was a weird year but there I'm sure we all learnt lessons. You should totally read my review of year 2020 if you haven't done that already.

Since we have only just began 2021, I figured it would be nice for me to share some of the things no one needs this year. Some of them are so easy to forget and they can easily make anyone depressed or unhappy.

P.s if you haven't already subscribed to my blog, please do so. One of my big goals this year is to get 100 subscribers this month. Your subscription means a lot to my goals.

I got the inspiration to write this post while journalling ( Journaling is one of the habits I'm trying to form this year.) I was writing a list of things I really don't want this year. Most especially people or things that can affect my mental health. I'm going big on paying attention to my mental health this year. We all should.

There are a large number of things that we need besides money. We need peace most especially. And you can't get peace without considering your mental health.

I didn't know the first thing about mental health and how it affects me until late last year. The beginning of the year had been so rough and overwhelming. Everything felt so tough and dull especially after the Corona virus hit hard.

Learning about different ways in which people and my daily activities affects both my mental and physical health really worked wonders for me. I went from being sad to feeling at peace.

Within the last year, there were things I learnt to do away with even though they weren't easy. I'm glad I did. I'm glad I embraced better habits too.
I had to write the things I didn't want in my journal so I don't forget. It would be selfish of me to keep the information to myself. Which is why I'm reminding those of you that know this things to not forget to avoid them. And for those of you that don't, well you do not need this things in your life.

1) Drama and Toxic friends:

The fastest way to impede your growth is to surround yourself with toxic people. The thing with toxic people is that they drain you of your energy.

When you are drained or when you feel negative because of your friends, your brain would continue to think negatively. In fact you might have a hard time focusing on important things like work or school

Education / Proactive Vs Reactive Student, What Kind Of Student Are You? by zykita(f): 1:11pm On Jul 04, 2020
Proactive vs reactive student, what kind of student are you?

Proactivity is actually one of the most important skills any Nigerian student can learn. I mean it is needed in every field in the world. Weather you are into sports academics, business, fashion or whatever proactivity is pretty much a big deal. So what then is proactivity.

Proactivity is taking responsibility for your life and the choices that you make. It is being responsible for every that happens to you and how you react to events that have happened or about to happen.

People are divided into two (proactive and reactive people.)based on how they think or react to events. In this article, we would be talking about how being proactive or reactive affects you as a student.

The reactive student

Many of us students fall into this category. If you do any of the things listed below then you are a reactive student.

1)You are controlled by the environment:
Reactive people usually let the environment control how they think or what they do. When the weather is bad you might feel bad or moody i.e you let the weather control the way they think.

Romance / 13 Signs You Are Dealing With A Toxic Person by zykita(f): 12:20pm On Jun 23, 2020
13 signs you are dealing with a toxic person.

Toxic people are human like poisons, they can be slow with killing their victims and sometimes it can be very fast. This killing I talk about is not necessarily using a knife to stab a person or actually putting poison in their victim's food. This killing can sometimes be physical but it mostly starts with emotional torture. It's more like destroying a person's emotion or feeling of self.

The worst part is that toxic people are everywhere. They can be parents, friends, relationship partners, neighbors, class mates and even work partners. The only way to totally escape the baggage that comes with toxic people is to be able to identify them and take precaution.

Chances are that you have met one or two toxic people in your life time. I have also had my own fair share with toxic people and I safely landed in the hands of depression. In fact, it made me suicidal. Which is part of what most victims of toxic people experience. It is for this reason that it is very important to know the things they do or the warning signs so as not to fall prey to them and also to quickly keep them at arm's length. Let's talk about these signs.

13 signs you are dealing with a toxic person.

1) Blame game:
Toxic people never take responsibility for their actions. No matter how bad the situation toxic people put you in, they will never apologize. They will always find a way to make you guilty for all their offenses.

They would even blame you for whatever goes wrong in their lives. Say their work is not going well or something is wrong with their academics or family life, they will try to blame you for it. They even blame you for the problems they obviously caused in the relationship.

Education / How To Pass JAMB With A Very High Score by zykita(f): 8:04am On Jun 13, 2020
How to pass JAMB with a very high score – 10 easy steps

For any Student looking to get admitted into a Nigerian tertiary institution, JAMB(UTME) is an obstacle that cannot be avoided. Most students aim to score has high as 300 in JAMB(UTME) but end up scoring lower because of different reasons. As a result, several students are scared of JAMB (UTME).
But I assure you that there is really no reason to fear. With the incredible tips offered in this article, you can easily score has high as 300 or more without much effort. Let’s get started.
10 steps on how to pass JAMB UTME.
1)Choose a correct subject combination:
No matter what class you are in right now, you really should have your subject combination figured out. Before you can prepare for JAMB, you must know what subjects you would be writing for the exam.
It differs for different courses and universities. Here is link to subject combination for different Universities.
English is very much compulsory
P.s UTME is the exam. It means unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. JAMB is the name of the body conducting the exam, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
2) Write out your target score:
•Aim high: It’s very good to aim very high. I can remember aiming for 300 and I ended up scoring 279. I only prepared for one month for my second JAMB after Unilorin broke my heart.( I don’t want to sulk about that story) Aiming high really works wonders because it challenges you to do more.
•Subject vs scores: You will need to make a list of your subject combination and the scores you want.
English: 70
Biology: 80
Physics:82
Chemistry: 75
•Write out the Total: Doing this gives you not only a mental picture of what you want but a physical one also. I have found that writing out my aims, gives me the extra push to make them happen.
The total for the template above is 307. That’s high right? But it’s not impossible for anyone who believes.
3) Put your current self to test:
•Where you are now vs where you want to be: You will need to compare where you are currently to where you want to be. By that I mean you will need to know what your capability is when it comes to solving JAMB(UTME) questions. This helps you to know the areas where you

Ajifowobaje Adesewa

"The wind howls but the mountain remains still." It's what my cousin told me. It has helped me this far and I'm sure it would help me years from now.
The winds of time has blown on me, I have fallen yet I'm unscathed. Life has been fair every once in a while throwing me rays of hope here and there or pouring down heavy waters on me and then giving me a warm blanket.
I have a story. A story of what was, what is and not what is to come, for we know not what the future holds. A story of how I fell and rose. Tales of how I learnt the harsh truth of the world and lived my own truth. A story of me and how I sojourned and conquered .
I fell pregnant at seventeen. It was one of the saddest moments of my life. I was pregnant for my best friend. Yes, my best friend. We were friends from childhood. His mum often said we sucked the same breast. Why won't she? We were practically siblings from different mothers. We grew up in the same compound, played with the same sand, climbed the same trees and even ate the same food.
We were so close, we were inseparable. Whatever brought us together made sure to add a glue that couldn't be broken. Little wonder how we started kissing under the moonlight when our parents were out hustling, bustling and jostling on the streets of Lagos but they were just friendly kisses. Friendly kisses that made a baby ten years later.
My dad was mad, his mum was furious.

Education / 5 Reasons Why Your Alone Time Is Important. by zykita(f): 7:41am On Jun 13, 2020
5 reasons why your alone time is important.
An average female student's day goes like this; she wakes up early in the morning, She attends lectures in a lecture theater full of people making noise, she meets up with friends after classes and then she goes home.
Her boyfriend comes over and they spend time together, he leaves and her talkative roommate returns to the room, they talk about the day's events, she goes online on social media, she gets tired ,she sleeps off and continues the routine all over again.
In all of that she doesn't get the chance to be alone without having to worry about an event she's missing out on. That's the kind of life a lot of Nigerian students live today. Sometimes, I like to think the world is rigged and we are forced to always interact with people (not that it is bad or anything.) But it can get really tiring.
Then again, there's the crazy stereotype that alone means lonely and it spells boredom. The truth is that you can actually be in the midst of people or even be in a relationship and still be bored and lonely.
Alone time should never be perceived as boring because there are so many benefits of spending time alone. This world already does a good job in making sure we are always around people,we might as well just enjoy and maximize the little time we spend alone. Again, alone does not mean lonely

5 reasons why you need your alone time.
1)Self discovery: The only way you can truly know more about your friends is by spending time with them. It is after spending time with them that you can decide whose personalities you like and who you would like to cut off.
