Ikenna351: For Peugeot owners in Abuja, I have a good news for you guys.

Not long ago, a good friend of mine in Bida, a lecturer actually, asked me to come down to Bida and educate a small community of Peugeot owners in Bida DIY tips, preventative maintenance, etc, to help them understand their Lions better and keep them on the road as long as it takes without dramas they face each time they visit auto mechanics and electricians. My friend was willing to organize the meet, if I could say yes. Of course, I said yes, but have not fixed the date. Probably, will travel to Bida for it when I start my annual leave.

It got me thinking that we could actually start off such meet in Abuja. Seeked opinion from some Peugeot owners in Abuja and they all liked the idea.

Friends of mine have promised to secure a place in town for it. I have picked Saturday morning for it, I mean, every Saturday morning, 9-11 am or so. We are still working on it. As soon as the venue/hall is secured, will let you guys know. We may even start the meet next week Saturday.

We are going to educate ourselves what and how it takes to keep our Lions in good shape, with powerpoint presentations and demonstration. Also, some basic troubleshooting tips on Peugeot cars and how not to introduce nightmares for ourselves in our Lions. How to know when what is faulty without use of diagnostic tool, especially when stranded on a journey. Its going to be interactive.

I have spoken with a Peugeot Automatic transmission Specialist who operates in Markudi, Abuja and environs. He is willing to come and educate us on how to maintain Peugeot Auto transmission and what ATF available in Nigeria to use for these transmissions like AL4, ZF trans & AM6. With time we will invite other specialists in Peugeots to come and educate and share their knowledge with us. GAZZUZZ take note. Hope you won't turn down our invitation? cheesy We need to tap that knowledge of yours in Peugeot a little. Lol!

By the way, at the end of every meet, there will be a free scan for everyone interested for FREE, with PP2000. So, you can always use every Saturday to check the health of your Lion.

Anyway, will give you guys feedback by Sunday, as soon as we conclude on the venue with my friends that want to secure it for us. If it works out, then it will start next Saturday, by the Grace of God.

Ikenna

As for securing the venue, its positive so far. From the look of things, it will likely start next week Saturday. We will know by Sunday, next 2 days.

Keep you guys posted.

Longtime.

I don't do BBM, rather, WhatsApp. Save my phone number (08052811236) and send me a message via the WhatsApp, for us to discuss about the PP2000.

By the way, how far with your Lion?

Wow.Great jobs Ikenna is doing here. I am a lion owner and didnt know this forum exists on NL.

Now to my question...My Lion is 307 which suddenly developed sole electrical issues. It shows 'battery charging or electrical supply faulty' and after like 10mins drive the car stopped and wouldn't start again. My electrician replaced the alternator.A few days later the same problem happened and LASTMA had to tow at their regular fee(you know what I mean). My electrician suggested we change the alternator belt which we did.The car worked nornally for about 5 days and right now the problem has resurfaced and car wont even start.

My battery was brought brand new in January so I am not really suspecting the battery though I am not completely ruling the battery out.

I'd like to have all the necessary assistance from fellow lion owners on this forum on what to do on this issue.

Thanks in advance

I hope the Alternator spins in the right direction, incase the electrician didn't put the auxiliary belt on the Alternator pulley to spin the other way round.

The simplest thing the electrician ought to have done when you replace the Alternator is to check the voltage with Digital Multimeter. If its below 13v while engine is running at idle, I would reject the Alternator.

Someone once had a similar issue in 406. He was getting the same warning on Multifunction display. Eventually, the cause was fuel pump. I am not suggesting you replace your FP, but saying your car needs to be scanned to be sure what we are dealing with.

Ikenna351:

A lady? Hmm! A pre-facelift 206 with 1.4 L engine will be ok for her, since she is after fuel economy and not some 007 car. Get her a 206 with TU3J4 (16v) engine. At least, the 16v will give better fuel economy than the TU3JP 8v engine, which is also a 1.4 L engine. Difference is that one is 16v while the other is 8v. But whichever you find will be ok.

She should stay away from 206 GTI. They all have EW10, 2.0 L engine , which 307, 406, 407 & 408 have too. Its not a thristy engine, but will consume more than the TU3J4. 206 GTI is meant for guys who want to catch fun, not minding the fuel economy.

Though, we have 206 with 1.6 Litre engines (TU5JP -8v & TU5JP4 -16v). The 1.6 J4 engine wont be that bad either for a lady, if you find one.

As for 206 with 1.0 L & 1.1 L engine, i wouldnt go there, especially the 1.1 L engine (60hp). She wont enjoy the car if it has A/C. Will be too slugish to pull the car with A/C on. I doubt if 206 with 1.1 L engine will have A/C sef. But i think the 1.0 L engine is turbocharged (not sure).

So, TU3J4 or TU3JP is ok for a lady, in my own opinion.

Please, I dont think you would want her to call tomorrow and tell you got her a nightmare when auto trans start dealing with her. From the reviews, auto trans in 206 isnt encouraging, just like the 406. I would suggest she settle for manual trans. I don talk my own.

Meanwhile, we have house members that drive 206, i think they are in a better position to tell you all need to know about 206. I have heard about the boot refusing to open sometimes. They can explain better. Hey! Aqva, your input is needed in this matter please.

But if she can afford it, let her go for the facelifted, 206+ (2009+ model). The car looks beautiful. I meqn, very beautiful. The pre-facelift 206 is not even close to her beauty. You cant even tell the diference between the 206+ and 207.

Ikenna.

Funny, i'm just seeing this post since last yr. I'm sure the mention function wasn't available then. Assuming the lady is still interested in the 206, then i would say it's the most problem free car i ever drove. Now, i bought mine brand new but then, the car is now 11yrs old and it's still kicking and problem free. The only problem with most 206 i see seems to be the A/C. Mine has a leakage that can't be traced and i happen to see a lot of 206 with their glasses wound down most of the time.
The parts are reasonably priced and hardly spoil. I have never changed a part twice apart from regular stuff like brake pads, tyroid and ball joint. I would recommend it for anybody. I have driven Nissan, Mercedes and Camry, yet my 206 is my all time favourite.

In case you are interested, in Abuja:

1. Brand new EW10 engine ECU cost N80,000.

2. Brand new BSI unit for 406 cost N50,000.

Also, for the past few weeks, TOTAL Quartz 7000 engine (15W-50) Oil has been scarce in Abuja. Not available in all TOTAL station in town that i checked. But the 1 litre can is avaialble. If you can afford to buy 5 cans the 1 litre Quatrz 7000, then you have no problem. But it will cost more than the 4 litre can. Remember, your EW & ES9 engine takes 5 litres of oil. But the way things are going, the 1 litre can of Quartz 7000 will soon finish in town.

Please, dont fail to the temptation of mixing Quatrz 5000 (20W-50) with Quartz 7000. Because they will tell you at the total stations to buy 4 litre Quartz 5000 and 1 litre Quartz 7000. If you do that, say bye-bye to your engine oil seals. That is, if that would be the only damage to the engine. Mineral & Semi-mineral oil is not meant to be mixed in an engine.

Or you simply buy Quartz 9000 (5W-40) also recommended for those engines, which is fully synthetic. Only that its pricey. 8k for a 5 litre can.

I have no science background. So I don't have engineer attached to my name.

Rebuilding a failed engine is a better option. You can't compare it to a used one: Tokunbo or Nigerian used. Rebuilt one will serve like new one.

On the other hand, 70k can only rebuild an EW10 engine with sub standard parts. Genuine or OEM EW10 piston kit cost about 80k. Not to mention the engine gasket kit. We don't even know the state of the cylinder head, intake & exhaust valves, camshafts, con rods, crankshafts, engine block, injection system sensors/components, etc. Do you know how much each cost, if you are to replace any when engine is opened?

Used or Tokunbo engine is a cheaper option, in summary.

Thanks a lot, quite appreciated, meanwhile piston and cylinder head and the block are all good, all he needs is metal and main bearings and some other parts, anyway thanks once again I'll ask him to do it then try another engine by end of this year

We had a heavy rainfall about an hour ago in Abuja. Well, after the rain, I got into my SV D9 and headed home. I got to infront Ministry of Defence, Area 10. There was this pool of water and every car would slow down and would craw through it. When it got to my turn to pass, one animal seating behind a Toyota truck couldn't wait and pushed his nose into the flood with speed. Hell was let loose. Every vehicle stopped immediately. Pedestrians took to their heels. The animal was just splashing water all over the place. Luckily for me, my windows were up, as usual, while my SV D9 was covered with water. It was as if a tanker of water just open his tank full with water on top of my Lion.

But the scenario turned into an interesting movie when all of a sudden, even before the water got to my windscreen, my wipers came to life and quickly started wiping at high speed. While that was happening, my Lion was stationary and almost all the pedestrians who took to their heels and were cursing the Toyota truck guy, were now gazing at my Lion. It was as if the car developed a terrible serious electrical fault, the way the wipers came on and the speed it was going. Then all of a sudden the wipers stopped wiping the windscreen, all by itself as it started. I put my gear back to 1 and slowly started moving. I couldn't believe how the whole attention turned to my Lion. I looked at a stationary Honda Accord. The drivers window was open and the Driver's mouth was open, as he gazed at my Lion like a zombie. Lol! I just knew at that moment that someone or some persons just got converted to Lions family. Lol!

Funny thing is, I actually forgot I left the wiper to Auto wiper (rain sensor). Its not that only Peugeots have that gadget. But the way mine behaved and for a 2000 production for that matter, they were probably thinking " How did I end up with this thing I am sitting in, instead of that?" Lol!

The Peugeot Owners Meet arrangement is still on.
