I am in kebbi and a friend just called to report multiple explosions in sokoto. Can anyone confirm this!

SOKOTO, Nigeria (AP) — Two explosions have struck police stations in northwest Nigeria.

An Associated Press journalist in Sokoto, the major city of Nigeria's northwest, says he saw smoke rising over the stations after the blast Monday morning. Police and security agents have blocked off roads to the sites.

The cause of the blasts was not immediately known. A Sokoto state police spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment

Boko Haram Suicide Bombers Hit Two Police Formations In Sokoto

Suicide bombers of the Islamist militant sect Boko Haram today attacked two police stations in Sokoto metropolis today.

At first a suicide bomber driving a bomb rigged car attacked the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in the city at Marina killing a police officer and injuring several others.

Another bomber also bombed Unguwar Rogo Police station in the metropolis. The number of casualties in the second attack is unknown as at the time of publishing this report.

Confirm, my office in sokoto just call and said they have closed for the day due to the bomb blast, the whole city is tense up.
