This is just a clear proof that Nigeria is a talkative country. We talk too much and do less. much words, less action. That is why we are this way. Millions of words and No action. Billions of words in campaign manifestos and lofty promises, yet nothing...we brag on how to tackle boko haram yet nothing to show. Obama said just few words about osama bin laden, the rest was action 1 Like |

Instead of technology reducing us to distant neighbours who communicate only by text messages as it is in the UK, we still value the excitment we get from each other's voice. Stop this and we will be as depressed as the UK. 5 Likes |

To me the figures does come as a surprise, in the last three month my cumulative telephone bill was in d neighborhood of 20K-28k. Now that's just me, am sure when that is spread across the average recharge card users like me, you would have an idea of how bogus our telephone expenses are. Kindly note that most users have two or more phones and all needs to be recharged. |

I've been pondering on this maself. I miss Nitel of the good old days. This is just ma thought and not a fact. The amount an average primarY skul pupil spends in a month to buy airtime might be half if not upto wat nitel bills in a month, the total amount a sec skul student spends in a month to recharge might be upto twice of wat nitel bills in a month if not above it. A uni student, ofcourse will be higher. Finally coming to dads and mums and other young boys, young ladies and young men especially those that are into business. The amount they spend in a month is incomparable to wat nitel bills 4 a month. Those days, i dont think nitel bills upto 3k in a month despite the fact you'll make calls witout any interruption (one minute remaining-very annoying), but ma dad gives me 3k to buy mtn airtime 1.5k, 2 at once o in the morning alone plus other subsequent ones dat follows as the day goes by-750, 400- i don think he goes below dat. The worst fact is dat 4 example, Mtn is owned by S.A, all this money is being used to boost their own economy, imagine where 9ja makes this kind of revenue through communication sector(nitel) under good governance, you know d kind projects it would have covered? I weep how 9ja relegates their indigenous technology for foreign ones- toothpicks(am pretty sure our forefather didn't know wat toothpick is but they ate bigger animals like elephants). If only 9ja'll bring back networks like nitel where one pays only at month ends at minimal cost, this would have been an advantage to us, afterall that's how other countries operate- USA, etc! 1 Like |
