Your definition fits more into ethnicity and not race. I am not looking at anthropoligical definitions as those are used strictly for purposes of studies. When analysing races, you look intently at colour. You speak more of the black race and not of the igbo or hausa race. People within the same ethnic group but practice a level of discrimination could be tribalistic and extreme cases, distinctions are drawn even within the same tribe by way of castes.

simply put, a race is a genetically-differentiated population, and several factors precipitates this (over several centuries in the past) such as tribe/language (people of different tribes dont inter-marry), geography (population living on mountains are genetically different from populations living in valleys), occupations (fishing, farming, cattle-rearing), culture (e.g. diet patterns over centuries) . . . . that is why it used to be easy differentiate yoruba, hausa/fulani, gwari/nupe , igbo just by looking even when they are not wearing anything which is peculiar to their tribe. for instance it is a general notion that fulani are slim and lanky, igbos have fair complexion, nupe/gwaris have some dentition, yorubas are stouts . . note that this is no longer as easy as it used to be because of modernization, inter-marriages, changing diet patterns, makeup etc.

lawrence99: Just wondering what place in the world you guys think has the worst racism? Where is the deep-felt patriotism/tribalism/nationalism/racism or whatever you wanna call it strongest? Where could you get attacked, kidnapped, killed just because you're not black?

I'm a white guy and having travelled in over 100 countries and 25 countries in Africa, I think it's Nigeria! Sure in French Africa, the police will want a bribe if you're english speaking and for sure if you're white. And boy will they be wicked!! But the local people there are nice and will want to be friends with you. In South Africa, they've got huge tensions for sure. But at least most people are trying to be a rainbow nation. And in provincial Western Europe and Eastern Europe, it's bad for black people. There'll be some idiots there who want trouble but most people would look away and in England most would stop it. Australia's bad definitely but a lot of people no longer believe in white Australia and even if they'd laugh, they wouldn't let anyone get hurt.

But in Nigeria, it was unbelievable!!! I've been attacked several times on my travels but only in Nigeria did I experience being attacked whilst a street full of onlookers who all laughed. In Nigeria, it's funny for a white to be attacked. If he's bleeding, it's better. Why was I in their country anyway. After all, there's only 2 million Nigerians in the 'country' where I was born. Nigerians are far too backward to get along with other tribal Nigerians so a white is just an animal to them. Every Nigerian I met wanted something out of me. If I ask for my change in a bar, they shake their heads, close their eyes and sometimes scream in anger. What a stupid white! When they see me with my Nigerian girlfriend, they shout out loud and tell her in to eat all my money. Yeah! Ha ha! If I'm friends with a Nigerian and at the end I haven't given them anything, they get angry and make threats. Sometimes, they'll see you somewhere and just look at you and shake their heads in disgust. You're white, what are you doing in my country? Sometimes, they kidnap you if you're a foreigner. When I visited my girlfriend's family home, someone outside said: what the Bleep are you doing in my country? Most Nigerians utterly hate whites. And they think there's good reason to! They're white and were born on white land. Nigeria's the most racist place in the world in my opinion. It's pure happy, smiling racism. How can Nigerians talk about racism?

I was in Ghana a few years ago and was visiting one of the slave castles in Cape Coast.. While on the tour, I heard a white man whisper to his his fellow group "No wonder we were able to take them as slaves" and they all burst out laughing heartily!!

Just the other day in Port-Harcourt, a whiteman was driving with a Mobile police escort sitted in front and was being an arsehole.. Driving so rough as he would never do in his own country.. Anyways, his cup ran over when he tried to bully me.. Unfortunately for him, I was in a bad mood and driving my run around vehicle.. Long story short is that I intentionally ran into him.. Trust his low Life Nigerian Mopol to try and cause a scene.. I simply sat in my vehicle and radioed for a van of Mobile police men.. When he saw my own police, the arrogance in him disappeared..

When I was in Canada, Myself and a white guy applied and interviewed for the job of a sales person at a furniture shop.. Mind you, I was a graduate and the whiteboy wasnt.. Whiteboy gets the job with pay and sales commision.. I also get the job but would only be paid based on myu sales..

At the Canadian U.S Border, My parents were arrested for entering the U.S illegally.. All explanations fell on deaf ears until a Black border police came and listened to them. Then he lifted their passports and saw that they had U.S H1 visas into the U.S and that the illegal crossing thing was a silly mistake that could have been easily resolved.. Meanwhile, the useless white immigrations man had already entered it into the system.. So now whenever my Parents have to be in the U.S again, they would have to explain why they entered the U.S illegally when the had the highest type of Visa shy of a permanent resident..

The most racist countries in the world include BRITAIN, the entire former Soviet Union and South Africa.

First of all, (apart from what you think you understand RACISM to mean), have you ever checked the definition of RACE in the dictionary?
Maybe you need to do so, or better ask someone who studies SOCIOLOGY or Anthropology for the definition of RACE.
It would be helpful for you to know that Human races are defined beyond skin colours otherwise, the Latvians would not be accusing the Russians of RACISM
