The Nigerian Police force are certainly not the most reliable police force, but that doesn't mean that the story is false. It might be true, it might be false.

1) Human rights activists have always condemned the police for parading suspects in front of journalists. It's an infringement on their rights. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty, but parading suspects before the journalists exposes them to a media trial in which they are pronounced guilty before the court has convicted them. The present inspector general of police has banned the practice.


2) It is currently possible to trace mobile phones. All the gsm networks can do it (just get the cell tower that received the broadcast). Cars fitted with car trackers are often recovered this way and call log evidence was central to the justice salami case.

3) The hotel should inform the police before depositing the body in the mortuary (not sure if the story says the did that or not), however, because of the terrible nature of the NPF, citizens and organisations would do anything to avoid dealing with them (come today, come tomorrow), including paying a bribe.

Why do you think they had 6 victims making her the 7th? Simply because killing a robbery victim who was a friend on facebook will remove the unwanted scandal that would follow when she starts a campaign on the social network. And it appeared the formula had worked in 6 previous cases.

Very true...what further comfirms the incredulity of the story is the fact that for them to have confessed to have killed in this manner for 6 times shows they must be well experienced in the game. So how would such people pick a call of the made to the victims phone they are in possession of? Any logical and analytical minded person would see very clearly the dumbness of the story.

My take is actual thing that happened didnt go this way. How can a beautiful girl as this that owns her own business be so gullible enough to go on an invite to meet strangers she never met before on facebook? If she were a student or some lesser classed person it would sound real. Also a person of her class to me would not fall for a student that easily even if the invite was feigned as a business meeting.

The logic in the whole story are quite not matching or making sense to me. Although we are all aware of the sexual pervasiveness on facebook but my take is this story was made up in an attempt to cover the real truth and on the other hand to further discredit facebook in Nigeria.

We've seen a lot of suspect shown to the public at the end proven innocent.

I get pissed-off when crime reporters mention the station, names and ranks and of police officers who carry-out arrest of criminals; only for criminals and their sponsors to carry-out revenge attack on such policemen in future. If the story of an arrest can reported with the suspects names withheld, concealing the names of the security agents who carry-out the arrest won't taking anything from same report.
