Some bankers actually earn around N50k. It all depends on your qualification(OND, HND or BSC), and the mode of your employment (Core staff or Contract staff).

That is one of the worst jobs anybody should do in Nigeria. Man or woman. The stress level is too high on a continuous basis.

I don't understand why anybody would take on a job of N50k and agree to bring in deposits of up to N10 billion.
I don't know if it's an exaggeration or not, but something doesn't sound right about that story.

If this lady in question had a comfortable and caring husband, she should have trashed the job b4 it came to this.

The pay is almost thesame among all banks. They appear flashy but live under heavy stress and remorse.

Reference: I'm so sorry but this is a case of fear/greed induced suicide. I don't know of any other industry in which occupational health and safety is not considered important by operators. Even professional commercial sex workers know their limits and take issues of health seriously.

Hypertension induced circulatory shutdown is not electrocution. She had time to evaluate her situation and consider her position and probably with help from her husband and colleagues make informed decisions, but no.

Nothing more to say about banks and their management. Since their practices are widely accepted, defended and hailed even on this forum.

They are helpless. What can a banker do when he/she has been denied his/her annual leave for 5 years running Either resign or die on the job. That is how bad it is....

A huge number of female bankers have either lost their jobs due to non-compliance or kept the jobs by embracing what has now been tagged ‘corporate prostitution.’ While some of them have died of heart-attack. Access Bank, we hear, has even gone a step further by buying official cars for some of the ladies who go about in skimpy revealing dresses to seduce high net-worth ‘customers’ to make deposits. This ‘trade’ has been so mastered by some ladies that they don’t have to fix a date or a venue for the exploitation, as they have ‘ready-made package’ for randy depositors who wish to explore the spontaneity aspect of the business.

Aig Imoukhuede led bank has literally turned the female bankers to prostitutes and they make no pretence about it. Those who could not stand the heat are always advised to get of the system and look for jobs elsewhere.

Sadly, however, one of the female marketers, Solabomi Olugbemi of Retail Business Unit at Simbiat Abiola branch of Access Bank, died early this morning. She had being on admission for over two weeks. Her Friends and co-workers who visited her said she confided in them that she had being under a lot of stress because of Deposit Mobilization mandate (OJC) Operation. Just because the Divisional Director gave them an ear-pulling warning early this year to raise cheap funds for the bank on N1 trillion in 6months. Solabomi lost her life because of bad accounts she inherited from a product called Auto-online (Car Loan) coupled with the incident of one of her customers withdrawing 200million naira from his account which threw her balance sheet to negative.

We also gathered from an insider in the bank that Solabomi collapsed on the last day of OJC target deadline because she was unable to maintain a huge demand deposit balance. She was immediately rushed to Jolade hospital in Gbagada, Lagos but she was later taken to Military hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos where she was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Young and jovial Solabomi (29 years old) who was married with 3 little children and a lovely husband died early this morning. Sources also confirmed that over 60% of access Bank staff are highly hypertensive and run the risk of heart attacks in their young age.

So funny I m hearing things I v not heard before now about access bank. I am not here to defend access bank but I think I will like to cheap in something. Let me ask if the poster of the info really work with access bank or. He is talking based on they say? I worked with access bank for 5years and I never hear that bank give individual target. The target is for the branch and if the branch didn't meet up with the target, it might not augur well. On the OJC matters, OJC is by no of account you were able to get, there is a target for no of account and not by deposi and this are for all professional staffs be it marketer or operations. Now, if the bank now decided to make OJC by deposit, does that mean, the bank is encouraging prostitute or the staff demselves wished to engage in prostitute? If you can't meet up with the target, why not leave the bank quietly and look for another job? Working in the bank is not by force and no one force u to apply for the job but u did. Let us stop pointing the accuser finger on another person when we know that, we r d cause of our predicament.
Moreso, target matter is not only with access bank, all other banks do d same. I work as a contract staff, and I never regrets working with access bank. Any of the marketers that can't continue with d bank, should quit.

I agree that the bank has it's extreme's (like keeping staff in the office till late at night to ridiculous early morning meetings) but this story aboit Solabomi is just a like. She died from a medical condition not from targets and all...
People should at least respect the dead...even if you are emotional about the institution.

Prolly not meant in the context we are referring to here, but, since it was Access Bank, it kind of read tactless
