Nigerian Students Should Focus On STEM (Science, Technology & Math)

I am of the belief that Nigerians are just as intellectually gifted as their Chinese and Indian counterparts, but Nigerians need more students interested in such fields. When I see Nigerian students at American universities studying in such fields, they seem to excel in such fields.

It is much easier for Nigerians who have studied in such fields to get a visa into the United States. They are able to get the H-1B visa, which targets highly skilled immigrants. The beauty of the H-1B visa is the visa affords its holder the ability to have “dual intent;” that is, the holder of the H-1B can intend to reside in the U.S. permanently by applying for lawful permanent residence, despite the otherwise temporary nature of the visa.
