Our "Galant" Mopol have become glorified maiguard and bodyguards for anyone who can pay a fee to the D.P.O. I have seen trigger happy Mopols escorting spoilt kids to kindergarten, escorting new money teenagers to bars and threatening to "waste" law abiding citizens (including women with kids in the car) who dare have a minor traffic accident with their "Ogas". Mopols should be withdrawn from escorting civilians unless under VERY exceptional circumstances.

Am sure the police is acting under the influence of alcohol if not haba shoot a soilder in front of the barrack buut am sure by now he would have gone to heaven and come back

ignis: I have always been wondering why military men don't shoot anyhow but these bloody civilian police can't even have control of their bullets. Everyday we hear that a policeman shoot somebody over nothing... And this policemen can't exercise their guns on criminals and terrorists... I hope he receive the beating of his life and serve as a scape goat to other bullet thirsty policemen.

the military which i was a part of accounts for bullets but the police do not and their training doesn't include having their guns on safety hence the accidental discharge (dat should be changed) which is why no military personnel wants to go on any task force with the police cos there are cases of accidental discharges especially when you hit a pot-hole. i have commanded a few task force myself and like my colleagues i can tell you i fear the police very well when alone especially on highways, most of them are drunk and trigger happy so avoid them at all cost.

Nawa ooh police d vex wan gain respect from us by force,policeman should give testimony for GOD of sending senior officers to his rescue,because if waz junior officers would just say carry on,advice to any police in dat area pls don't wear ur uniform for ur life sake.a word is enough for d wise.

People need to reflect deep on this. This incidence clearly shows the level of I.Q of men bearing arms in the country.
The policeman has inability to assess situation properly and think further than the present and need to give in to his primitive urge.
Any reasonable person would have thought a million times before shooting a soldier in front of the barracks.
We take it for granted that every policeman is sane. Some of them may have latent insanity or serious family stress and hence psychiatry evaluation should be routinely carried out to officers showing signs of stress.

The policeman was thoroughly beaten before he was rescued by other Army personnel, who took him to the Medical Resettlement Centre (MRS) in Bonny Cantonment for treatment.

This rescuing part really cracked me up.

Our policemen lack proper training & discipline; that is why they shoot people,even fellow policemen, indiscriminately. And d problem is compounded by d fact that there's nobody to correct d situation because the officers ar themselves unreliable. If u report an erring policeman to an officer, he feels unconcerned about it. Sometime ago I saw two policemen in uniform around 10 am heavily drunk and staggering down a busy street: nobody will bother to report them because their "brodas" may instead of taking disciplinary action on them fabricate an offence against u!!! Soldiers are a bit better. But SSS men are disciplined.

hmmm, good to know, never knew the military also had such reservations about the police o. I think it s more of an attitudinal thing. Everyone knows the military are more disciplined than the police.
