The republicans'national convention was an oppurtunity for romney to sell himself to the American people. I observed his proposed policies if voted in as president and i cannot but wonder if barack obama is the lesser evil to go with. Take for instance his foreign policies, he made it clear that his administration wouldn't engage in talks with iran but instead would take millitary actions agains the islamic regime because he beleives that would halt iran's nuclear program. This I beleive could trigger a conflict not short of being called a thermonuclear holocaust! He also talked about being hostile towards russia and rebuked president obama for extending an olive branch to the former soviet state. Now don't get me wrong i really like romney and some of his policies but i'll like us nairalanders to discuss on this. Romney VS Obama.

Romney do not have any solution. His position and utterance is only determined by who ever he is speaking to. Lies upon lies. In his speech at the convention - he could not even say this is what I will do or this policy (when he say I will repeal healthcare law, he will never say what it will be replaced with).

Bill Maher puts it perfectly.

Romney is a birther candidate(tlkin of birth place ),a panderer nd a chauvanist. He has no plan dan dat of his party whose main goal is 2 see obama not gettin a 2nd term. Evn dou i dnt like obama 4 suportin same sex mariage, i stil prefer him 2 romney.

As a wannabe Republican, I was dismayed with Romney's speech at the convention.

There were some rhetorical crumbs to women, immigrants, Cubans and ulra right-wing

evangelicals, it left me scratching my head. The biggie was, a criticism of how

President Obama had almost no business experience when he took office. How many

years of experience does Paul Ryan, the man who would be VP have? Zilch.None?

The event was almost purely based on sentiments. I beleive the democrats would have a lot to say this week during their convention. I dont see the reason for inviting those two elderly couple whose's son died of cancer because their testimony had nothing to do with what the american people wants from their 'president-to-be. Clint eastwood also proved to be a clown. He insulted the institution of the presidency in a lot of ways when he was having a conversation with the 'imaginary' obama. He portrayed obama as an insultive and delusional fellow. President obama is not insultive, he infact chooses his words very carefully like no other. And as for romney.. Hmm.. He didnt say anything tangible in his speech. His speech was more about personal values and not a better roadpath for the american economy. He simply has no solutions. I wonder how he will stand a debate with the formidable obama. God help him. *although i'm not an obama fan but i think he's got no serious competitor and that would make the whole thing less interesting*

1) Obama is the darling of the Main Stream Media (MSM).

2) Mitt Romney's speech will never appeal to the MSM no matter how brilliant it is.

3) Obama's flaws will always be covered/played down by the MSM.

4) The next November election is not going to be about speeches and debates performance, but on America's own version of GARRI ON THE TABLE.

Here is where the problem lies...Forget anyone supporting Obama, the question is: What specific policy did Romney state during his speech that is better than the options Obama is presenting.

Saying you oppose this and that is not enough. Romney had his opportunity to present his plans, but he did not - all he does is lie (see below)

This election is a joke, and the republican party knows it too (Why else would all the speech givers talk more about themselves than the so called "nominee"? )

Mitt Romney won't win this election. undecided

That was very true. Almost all the speakers (except his wife were either saying something about themselves or attacking Obama - but not "endosing" or "approving" or saying why Romney was a better candidate.

Poll: Mitt Romney speech has low impact
Americans scored Mitt Romney’s GOP convention speech the lowest since Bob Dole’s acceptance speech in 1996, according to a Gallup Poll released Monday.

Following the Republican National Convention in Tampa, 40 percent of voters said that they were more likely to support Mitt Romney for president, compared with 38 percent who were less likely — a net impact of +2.

This is lowest net impact for a convention going back to 1984. By comparison, the 2008 GOP convention featuring Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was +5, and that year’s Democratic convention nominating Barack Obama was +14.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech received the lowest marks since Bob Dole’s in 1996: 38 percent of respondents said that Romney’s speech was “excellent” or “good.”

That figure is lower than McCain’s in 2008 (47 percent), Obama’s in that same year (58 percent), Bush’s in 2004 (49 percent) and Kerry’s that same year (52 percent).
