Dear Nairalanders,
Please i need a professional advise to help me solve my Kia Optima 2004 model gear problem. The car when taking off, starts from high gear, difficult to climb hilly roads and bumps, diffult to enter reverse. My mechanic initial complained of solenoid, fibres, transmission oil etc, after several trial to fix the car, in summary we ended up changing the whole gear box. My greatest disappointment is that the problem still persist. PLEASE ADVISE ME ACCORDINGLY.

You've either bought a used tranny with the same fault as yours, it wasn't replaced, or the fault lies with the TCU.

Was the drivetrain scanned for fault codes?

If your car has a separate TCU, check it. If not, then the brainbox could be bad.

Maybe your problem was not transmission, but not all cylinders not working(no power)

Once a mechanic starts messing around without knowing what he is doing, might end up causing more ,do a full electronic diagnosis
