Hello Bro. You're on the right track. I think a little sharpening will help your ads.
I'm not crazy about the text aspect ratios; everything looks squeezed horizontally.
I also think you need to be more creative about your words. Look at other ads for inspiration!
okk will do that!

Yes, but the small text areas are not very legible. You need to make them bigger or use fonts that are clearer and prettier.

Don't forget that there will be 3 winners, at least. And that you still have 22 hours to improve your entry.

I like the fact that you've included copy-writing as part of your offering. I think your text is attractive, too.
However, visually, I think the ad can be made more attractive. The fonts and colors are ok but not fantastic!

Well, the good news is that your images look very Nigerian to me. People are more likely to be interested in adverts with pictures they can relate to. The bad news is that you did not follow the rules. You're supposed to advertise your web/banner ad design service, and not random things. Advertise yourself as a person who can design great banner adverts for the web. The winners will be featured on our commercial ad slots.

Excellent copy and images. You really know how to pass a message across! But I feel you're still missing some finishing touches.

Seun: Dear Web Banner Advert Designers,

Our decision to use the 154 by 95 pixel format for direct ads on Nairaland was made for many good reasons, but it presents advertisers with a unique challenge which is also a unique opportunity for good graphic designers with a good understanding of marketing. The challenge of designing effective ads at that size.

To make things easier for our advertisers, I've decided to launch a web advert design contest. The rules are as follows:
1) Post your name or the name of your company, and a link to your website and portfolio.
2) Upload up to four original web adverts (154 by 95 pixel .png files), advertising your web advert design service.

Our small panel of judges will select the 3 best adverts (at least) and award the winners with free advertising worth ₦30,000 each.

Deadline: Friday, September 21, 2012 at 4:00pm. Please drop a reply if you intend to participate.

Thanks a million.

Nice contest here...
But my little opinion is, anyone can design. What makes it effective is the question. Analyzing the target audience, the message... etc...
I dont have any design to upload though cos i was just referred here by a friend and the contest closes in hours...

I blog on www.gbolubunmi.com and you can find some creative must reads there.

I was going to look for the question in order to answer it, but since you've unsubscribed, I guess I don't need to do that.

Re: Web Banner Design Contest (154x95 Pixel Format) by Nobody: 3:12am On Sep 21, 2012
Been going through the numerous designs since 2am, and I have the following to say:

1. Only three guys so far know what Seun wants, and only few also stuck to the rules. SMH that Nigerians can't follow rules.
2. The ad size to me is too small to win people
3. Seun you need to extend your closing date in order to get the best designers cos so far, I see only few good designs that can win patronage fast- most are traditional, which makes them boring & old-fashioned.

I know there are better designers here on nl, but I think some of the instructions maybe stopping them from participating- like, limiting the ads to only web ad designers, why not open the flood gate?

From what I have seen so far, I can do far more better than most who have subscribed for the contest even though I myself aren't a professional designer.

Good luck guys but pls be more creative! Nice one Seun.
