The lagos state waterworks at ikoyi just love to waste state resources;otherwise why do workers there acknowledge complaints about leaking pipes all over ikoyi yet refuse to do a thing about it?
Way back in 99,there was a leaking pipe on cameron road,in the middle of the road, right in front of the BHC house.
I went to complain then, yes they acknowledged but did nothing about it many years after.not long ago the road was repaired and the water no longer leaks.
Last year during the fuel scarcity whilst queueing for fuel at the NNPC station on kingsway road,I and a friend decided to go make yet another complaint about wasting waters in ikoyi.one of many I have been making.
On getting there,we decided to make the pumping section our first port of call,we complained and was subsequently directed to the station manager's office;here is were the drama started, the manager was in an inner office talking on his mobile, the secretary asked us to wait.
We waited for ten minutes and decided to remind the manager ourselves cos his secretary was reluctant to do so.
The man politely asked us to give a few,we obliged and another fifteen minutes passed, now we were no longer pleased cos the nutty guy was actually chatting to a gf while official duty were pending on working hours!
We decided we had enough, became visibly angry and left!
Nobody tried to stop us.to apologise, that's one of the ways they run government affairs in lagos, they have nothing to gain directly so they won't do a thing.

The areas where some of the leaking occurs are;bourdillon, opposite the BHC house, just after thompson road juction.it is directly from the mains,a valve must have gotten damaged.water gushes free here, bigtime any time they pump water.
They installed a new valve at mcdonald road by bourdillon but did nothing about about fixing a valve leaking well over ten yrs, what a shame.
Another leaking point is the rumens canal on rumens road.
Webb road, close to kingsway road is yet another crazy leaking point.there are two points leaking on this road so far.
The canal on ruxton road is a place where water is allowed to waste by the ikoyi water board.
Its disheartening to know that these waterworks staffs know cos people go to complain yet do nothing, they seem too happy not working but collecting salaries at the end of the month.
Some good hearted individuals have had terrible experiences with those thieving waterboard officials;they try to fix the pipes in their locality and those crooks who one is believed to not know anything will show up and accuse one of stealing water.
They don't stop there;they will proceed to pelt one with "mad fines".
Do you have any experience?let's share.
