Ikenna351: Ok. For those of us in Abuja, where do you think will be big enough to contain everyone?

Honestly, I initially planned to organise only Peugeot day or French car day, but i decided to bring it to the notice of other brand car owners and lovers. It seems everyone is interested. But, like someone has noted, a space that will be big enough to take Japanese cars is where the problem is. For American and Euro cars, that wont be an issue. But for Asian cars, thats something else.

So guys, what do we do? Do you want us to it by brands (e.g. Peugeot day, VW & Audi day, etc), by countries ( French car day, German car day, Japanese car day, etc) or simply Nairaland car day (all brands)?

The same is applicable to Lagos, Enugu & PH. If we can sort it out with any of the cities, the rest will take the same pattern.

So?

NL car day is beta

Its better to take off from Lagos. It must nt be too perfect at inception. This will be great cos man, we drive cars in this country, I have never seen people as car crazy as Nigerians, not anywhere throughout my stay in Europe. I tell you something; fora for so may things in Nigerian auto industries will be created and so on.

First thing first, I wld suggest we get ppl to volunteer their time, most probably we in Lagos
* To help look for a place, preferably around beaches, because of the view, as it concerns pictures
* Allow all brands of cars, arranged accordingly as cars come, part of the job of the volunteers
* Get a good position/spot where d food and drinks wld be served, maybe with light music

My suggestion, my bad!

It simply means I am game. I can bet u if this idea sail thru, u wld not believe where it will get to, even d car dealers might want to come and display their cars in the subsequent meeetings

To be updated on this event, you will have to be visiting Car Talk section frequently, since the thread wont remain on the homepage/frontpage that long.

For those of us in Abuja, we need to think of a wide space in town that can take many cars.

A friend has suggested the beach between Jabi and Gwarimpa. What do you think? Is it wide enough? Do you have a better place in mind in the city that will be free?

We need a free space, because no cash will be involved. Unless someone wants to volunteer to pay for a space for the event. But its better if we can get a free one.

Please we need to join hands and make this event a reality. We need everyone contributions (not financial contributions).

The time is ticking.

Ikenna what happened with the Nairaland car day, no one is talking about it again. I was imagining how it is going to look like, it will be wonderful and much fun to bring Nairalander together with such occasion. It is still possible.
Check these out though not properly organised as I expected.

Burnout! This is one thing i love about powerful RWD. So much potentials and fun to pull.

But, its not how i was planning it to be. We need a quiet place for quiet gathering to enjoy ourselves, not pulling stunts. Something like the Ausrtalian French Car Festival 2012. Find the link below:

http://smg.photobucket.com/user/zykyra/library/French%20Car%20Festival%202012%20Perth%20Australia#/user/zykyra/library/French%20Car%20Festival%202012%20Perth%20Australia?sort=4&page=1&_suid=136776845293002642757608450293

All we need is get an open/big field, line up our cars according to brands, open our bonnets and let the world feed their eyes! An item 7 would be organised as well (or everyone comes with his/her item 7/edibles), while discussion is going on, as we go round our cars. It will be fun, if we can pull this, just like one in the above link.

But then, its obvious that no field in Abuja can take Jap cars, no matter how big the field would be. It may have to be limited to brand(s).

wanted to say, but we do not have exotic cars in Nigeria....it will be no different from the lagos traffic scene,or a market place...to make it unique, we could refine the occassion to specific brands...e.g, Nairaland mercedes car day, Toyota car day, Audi car day e.t.c., but then how many Audi users do we have, or Jaguar users...

I really find this car French car or Peugeot day interesting. We can all work it out, if we are interested. All we need is a venue, an open space. Then, either we get a sponsor or sponsors or we donate.i.e. Mr. A pledges to bring a create of can Guinness stout to the venue that day, Mr. B pledges to bring a create of can Malt, while Mr. C pledges 20 pieces of take-away plates/containers of rice, bottle waters, etc. We choose a day in November or December for the event.

We can choose to display cars like these:

1. Japanese cars
2. Korean cars
3. German cars
4. American cars
5. French cars
6. Others (comprises of other regions)

Or, we can choose to do it according to regions or brands, like US and Australia has been doing.

Its just a suggestion. But its a all about fun, coming together to talk about cars, display our Cars, feed our eyes, take pictures, eat and drink, depart and wait for another year for the get together.

We can still choose to remain faceless (not disclose our usernames here) when we gather.

Like i said, its just a suggestion. And please, no one is asking anyone to donate any money to anyone. You will come with whatever you want to share with others on that day.

Should it be strictly for car owners only? Should it be strictly for Naiaraland members only? Any other idea on how best to do this?

We can choose to organise it in these 4 cities: Abuja, Lagos, Enugu & Port-Harcourt.

So guys, can we do this?

Ikenna.

Nice picture you got there, I love classics. But sometimes I wonder if these vehicle have never had a dent or crash (I believe they must have) but the way they look clean and new makes me wonder if we have panel beater in this country that can restore vehicle body to it's factory state. If you know any, please let us know.
Truthly if we must have this it needs to be organised because the number of japenese car on nairaland is alarming.
