There is no hard and fast rules about it. Global warming is regional cyclic event. We are at the transgressive stage, when ice caps at poles melts, this results to global sea level rise that will certainly flood the coastal regions like Lagos, Cotonou, Niger delta, even the tributaries to the seas will not be left out. After a maximum sea level rise. The sea will regress back to the ocean, this happens when the ice are formed back at the Poles . This is simplified enough for the non- Geoscientists to understand.

Antivirus92: dude e be like say you no dey understand english. They say anambra go experience flooding long ago and it's now happening. But them say lagos go wipe away!! Note the difference:anambra-experience flooding, lagos-wipe away!

what makes Lagos different from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers that will make it wipe away and leaves these other three?

Remember Myanmar! A word is enough for the wise.

Climate change will affect most coastal cities. Certainly it isn't as if Lagos is unique in this.

Lagos will probably be better off than New Orleans at least, much of which is already below sea level.

kpozite: Climate change is real, but the unfortunate thing is that no one can stop it. The Climate changes from time to time it was climate change millions of years ago that whipped away and ended the age of the dinosaurs and series of climate changes has occured since then without interference by anyone, it was the stable climate for a couple of thousand years that enabled the evolution of man and other species as it is today so this now may be the coming of the end of the days of man because if the climate changes so much and it becomes unbearable for man, we will all die off and give way for other species that will adapt better to the new environment so enjoy the time you have now or repent if you believe in God.
So the submergence of Lagos is big and unfortunate but not the only one to Occur. I just hope for once that science is wrong here.

At the boldened.

If this your assertion is to be taken on the face value and in an academic discussion, it may mean that there is no heaven afterall.

It may mean that some specie will just give way to some specie as a result of some occurances and life goes on in a cylce like that.

Then, may be some million years to come, man will emerge again.

Just saying o. Just an academic exercise, you know

donigspain: Taaa, say what you know man. Earthquakes had happened, can happen and will happen in Africa. Don't ever think earthquake occurrence is peculiar to the Pacific Ring of Fire.
My good nl brother I will only reply this post to educate u. Earthquakes happens when 2 tectonic plates rub against each other.
Africa is on a single tectonic plate unlike califonia and the gate way to asia. (Ring of fire) thank you. #noinsultsonforum#

Its no joke. A julius Berger top shot told me the Lekk-ajah peninsula will integrate with the Altantic ocean in 50 years.

Remember this when next you go real estate shopping in Lekki.

Rubbish talk. People just create reports and publish them nowadays. i mean a whole Lagos vanish. really? really?

What is Lagos that can't go under in seconds?
Have you not heard of Atlantis that went under in history due to natural calamities?
Grow up and be seriously mindful of your environment.
